We used the pool and liked that it was both indoor and outdoors. We also used the hot tub but once we got in we noticed that there was a 4 in tall layer of thick scum surrounding the edges of the hot tub. I think it had been there a while also because people ( presumably children) had scratched their names in the scum with fingernails. That disgusted me. It also made me question how clean everything else really was.

The beds, pillows, and blankets were very comfortable. I liked that there was also a refrigerator and microwave in our room.

Breakfast was lacking but I’ve had much worse, shower water only lukewarm. Workout area needs more free weights and an extra bench/better air circulation.

This hotel needs a remodel! The carpeting to entrance on side of hotel is not laying flat and is becoming unsafe. Lots of stains and tearing! Hotel room: No fan in bathroom, lots of moisture, ceiling showing damage due to this. Walls and trim worn and showing wear and tearNobs loose on drawers,they were there just couldn't pull on them as they were stripped. Staff always courteous and helpful! Breakfast equipment broken, no juice for one morning, pancake maker also down. For the value an ok place to stay.

My son and I were stopping overnight on our way to our lake. The hotel was a wonderful respite after a VERY long day of driving. Close to the interstate, but not too close. Good check in experience. Room was well furnished and clean.

We had to wait about 30 minutes for someone to check us in. Our bathroom floor tiles were coming off, and about half the grout was missing.

It was a cute place and the bed was comfortable.

There was a teenage volleyball team (actually multiple teams) at the hotel so that made it very loud. Otherwise, it was a great stay.

The location was good, we needed a reasonable hotel room just for the night. This place worked great.

About the only thing I could complain about would be the carpet. It completely went against the cabin theme and was very generic looking. This is very much nitpicking though just to satisfy answering this question. I will say on my King bed the fitted sheet didn't go down the sides far enough and slipped off very easy, they could use some deeper fitting sheets.

I Enjoyed the room and the whole Cabin based vibe of the place it was very neat. I feel like for the size of the place the hot tub could be bigger or maybe not so tucked in a corner it felted cramped with enough people I stopped going down. Room temperature was easy to control and the bed was okay.. not Marriott great but I slept good enough.

We didn't like that the carpet was coming up in the hallways and elevators, because it was easy to trip over. Also, the cleanness of certain areas and the walls in our room was a bit concerning. I also didn't appreciate the rudeness of one of the staff members when I asked for extra towels.

We like the cabin feel and the breakfast as well.

It is dated. Broken remote control. Not worth the amount we paid in comparison to other properties we have stayed in.

A few areas could be improved: The property feels a bit dated in places, and some furnishings showed wear. The pool area, while fun, was crowded even late at night with children going into the hot tub running around. Nothing major, but small touches could elevate the experience.

Stoney Creek has a fun, rustic vibe with solid amenities. We enjoyed the indoor pool area, and the room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly, and the location worked well for our trip. A few small issues, like cleanliness of pool area and maintenance of working elevators, kept it from being exceptional, but overall, it’s a good choice for a relaxed stay in Des Moines.
