Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesSmall rooms Horrible pillows - huge and brick like ( hurts your neck) Bed was not very comfortable Soundproofing wasn't great -- people were coming and going all night it seemed Felt dangerous later at night walking along Greenwich or even Spring Street alone as it is super desolate and quiet at night and some bums are living on curbs or in open warehouse/ shed areas right around the hotel. A bit creepy as a woman walking alone.
Cozy feeling Kind staff Easy walking distance to SoHo and West Village

United KingdomI can't say anything to be honest only small thing blind wouldn't go all the way down so if you need full blacked out room to sleep that would be the only thing. Otherwise nothing I didn't like. Book the hotel !!!
Great location in a quiet area. You can walk to a lot of locations within a hour like Maddison square, summit one, Times Square to name a few. Subway station was a 5 min walk. Hotel room was big for New York. It was clean. Housekeeping came everyday they were super friendly in fact all the staff were so so friendly. If I saw them in the elevator or in passing they always acknowledged me. Maria checked me in she was so lovely & recommended a few places to go. Concierge guys were so lovely as well. seeing as they are the first to greet you they really were just so friendly. There was a rooftop that actually never visited but seemed popular place. I just need to say again how amazing the location was. Away from all the busyness & fuss. It was less than 10 min walk from Hudson River which was so lovely to walk through. Overall felt so safe as a solo traveler.

United StatesThe building could have been better soundproofed. We can hear a lot of street noise in the night. Also our TV wasn't working. Luckily Oscar at the front desk was resilient in helping us getting it fixed even though it was late at night and maintenance wasn't available. Shout out to Oscar!
Hotel was clean and in a great location. The rooms were big and hotel staff was friendly. Great option if you are looking to stay downtown in NYC.

United StatesOur AC unit was broken and we ended up moving rooms at midnight when their "fix" didn't work. The staff was eager to make sure we were comfortable and happy. Along with coffee provided at the restaurant anytime you wanted it, they should also offer complimentary tea.
The location was perfect, SoHo and two blocks from the Hudson River Park. Very close to the subway. Easy walking distance to great restaurants and things to see. The room was comfortable for two people - small space, but nicely appointed and quiet neighborhood. The staff was exceptionally friendly and efficient. The rooftop bar was awesome.

United StatesNo sitting area in the room other than a desk and chair. We sat downstairs in the lobby/cafe or up in the bar on the roof.
The rooms are attractive and stylish with very clean bathrooms and we had a nice view of the water. The hotel is located near the edge of the city and it was very quiet at night. The roof has a nice bar with views of the water and city. The street cafe offered coffee and food and was convenient. Great area of NYC to stay. Easy access to the subway a few blocks away. Also a great yoga studio nearby! Rooms are small but comfortable.

JapanThe lift took a while to come and sometimes it wobbled a lot (can be a bit scary at times) and I found it hard to turn the Shower Know (a bit heavy) with the shower slide door not able to be closed (so the water went everywhere). But those are pretty minor for me, I'd definitely comeback.
Had very pleasant stay in Hugo Hotel. Warm staff, clean and comfortable hotel room. The room size is bigger than I've expected.

CanadaWhile not an issue, the proximity to the UPS facility caused some minor noise in particular on Sunday evening (12am - 3am) which seemed to be a high activity time. It did not bother me, felt like normal city noise, but bothered my boyfriend who is very sensitive to noise. I also think the window had not been closed properly as we opened and reshut it and that seemed to help. So that’s a tip if you find the noise is getting through or wind is howling.
Great location, 5-10 min walk to subway stops & walking distance to West Village & Tribecca. Room was clean, well appointed, comfortable bed, good water pressure and hot shower. Nice to have a bathroom door that closes properly (not a slider). Had a partial water view from 9th floor. Deluxe room is a decent size and easily fit two people with carry-ons. Isis at the front desk is excellent and provides professional service, a true hotelier. The staff was very friendly overall, professional and well trained. Free hot or ice coffee at Felix was a great bonus too.

United KingdomAir Con in room wasn't great, desperately needed upgrading (noisy & ineffective). If desk was smaller would have been more room for luggage and to move about, but room size not terrible for price and fact you're in Manhatten.
Location excellent, close to Soho and West Village, great if like us you wanted to avoid mid town chaos and be walking distance to downtown (all be it a good walk). Rooftop bar excellent, especially if you stick to happy hour. Staff friendly.
