We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

United StatesThe TV was not set up as to guide for channels, so I had trouble finding a channel to watch. The drain in the bathroom sink did not drain properly. There was no place in the shower to place my own bar of soap. It was very awkward to access the roll of toilet paper as it was located under the sink.

United StatesVery dirty carpets and doors and the hot water wasn’t working they were giving refunds but I bought through booking so I chose to keep my reservation as it was too late to get another hotel. Not soundproof so you can hear everything also housekeepers started vacuuming outside our door at 8 am.

United StatesOur room was newly "remodeled". Bathroom door didn't close unless you slamed it and pushed really hard. Shower door leaked water all over the floor. Floor in the shower was dirty (we personally had to clean before using). Bathroom floor didn't even look like it had been swept. And the outlet at the desk didn't work.

United StatesHotel was under renovation, which is fine if you then adjust the price for the smells and limited parking. Our room did not have a remote for the TV, and the front desk was not helpful. Staffer told me I'd have to talk to the manager and then hung up on me. The manager was more polite but unable to compensate us for the inconvenience. Booking.com gave us a $30 voucher, but the overall inconvenience of filing a complaint and being treated disrespectfully by staff was disappointing.

United StatesTwo things: The first room I was given was UNINHABITABLE. Second floor - it was literally disgusting. I am sure that would have been offline if it weren't for the eclipse. Thankfully, another room was available. I dropped a room before the booking deadline and was charged an additional $100 for the room I kept. I want to dispute that. That was NOT part of the booking contract. I emailed the manager but did not receive a reply.
The room we stayed in was quite nice. Very roomy and clean. The staff was very friendly even though it was PACKED for the eclipse.
