Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe smell when walking into the building was quite off putting, it smelled like the beer pipes hadn’t been cleaned a very long time.
The room was clean and the location was amazing, great communication when they didn’t have hot water for the first night and told us in advance, gave us the option to cancel or have a discount.

United StatesI didn't like not being able to check-in until 4pm, but understand. The room was so tiny that there isn't much room to move, but that's what you get for the price in nYC.
Room was tiny, but clean and had all I needed. Location is right at Times Square, so good. No breakfast, just coffee.

United StatesVentilation is lacking/the fan in the bathroom does not work - seems like it's been that way for a while as there is mold on the windowsill between the inner and outer windows, condensation develops on the table top near the AC (unless the curtain is pulled open, but then the people across the street can see right in), and everything just felt wet (even the carpet!) Bathing suits didn't fully dry and neither did towels. It was not humid outside when we visited. An entire outlet didn't work which made it difficult to use two phones at the same time overnight due to needing medical devices plugged in on the side tables at night. An outlet port near the bed is taken by the AC, further restricting use.
Excellent location and a great price! Front desk staff is friendly. People will complain about the size, but it's New York what do you want?!

CanadaThe room was fine but note there is no natural light or air coming in at all. We were at the 4th floor and the window is very close to the neighboring building with no light coming in, and it won't open. This made waking up in the morning very hard and the room felt like a basement. The water pressure in the shower is not that great but I guess you could expect that at an old building. The air conditioner is the old type where it's a big unit inside the room, it was right next to the bed which can freeze you at night, but too hot to turn it off. Even when off, there's still air coming out of it. The unit's grills needs cleaning, too. There's a nice bar downstairs and you can have breakfast there at a discounted price, but the service and food there were terrible so I wouldn't recommend it at all. There's plenty of better and cheaper places around to eat.
This hotel is fairly what you would expect from it's rating. The room itself was comfortable and clean, fair shower, ok bed, small room but enough for a couple in my opinion. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and you can tell the hotel cares about it's guests. The location is very central and close to the subway so if you're looking to be at the center of times square you would love this location.

GermanyThe rooms were quite small, the box for the mattress was too big and tripped on it many times. I loved the Irish pub, the feel and what they offered. However, the food was mediocre and extremely expensive. For 3 adults and a child breakfast costed 87$ with the discount and this for me is unheard of. breakfast costing more than 15$ per person is extreme.
The location was perfect! Even in the loudness and business of times square, at night we heard nothing from outside at all!

IrelandVery small room. Like POD sized but more pricey You can hear music playing from bar downstairs late enough. Be ok if it was decent. Took $150 deposit for a room, which took a week to come back. Card details should be enough.

AustraliaOur room was on the 2nd floor so very dark and extremely small which wasn’t a huge deal but there was some kind of fan outside our window that was so ridiculously loud, we couldn’t sleep. Luckily I had ear plugs but my partner did not. We didn’t need to spend much time there so was ok but the noise and lack of sleep was not good. No one else mentioned this in their reviews so maybe just ask for a higher level room?
