Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLocation is a little far from town, you need a car or rely on taxis. The room we booked was supposed to have an infinity pool, none of the rooms here have that facility, bit annoyed that we paid extra for this. The service at breakfast was not always very smooth, drinks were forgotten, wrong hot food supplied. Rooms have no shelves or drawers, this was very annoying. Tea and coffee facilities available in room, but no milk was supplied, you had to keep getting it from room service.
Staff, service and food and drink was good. .

IrelandIf we had to nit pick, the lunch / bar menu is quite poor. €30 for a club sandwich is expensive . An offering of pizza at a more economical value would go along way no doubt. We also wanted to look into the spa experience and use the turkish bath / ice bath but it was €100 per person. Expensive for what it was. Other than that - perfect.
I have to say we were absolutely delighted with our stay at Cala Ponte Hotel. From the moment arrived we were greeted by Antonio who brought our luggage into the reception... while we awaited to be checked in we were brough tot he bar and given a fresh juice. Ilia was the waitress and very friendly. Antonio parked my rental car and when we checked in brought us to our room via golf buggy, a really nice touch! Upon check in the room was very clean and tidy and had it all. It was so peaceful. Cristian brought us into Polignano most nights on the buggy and can collect up to 10:30 free of charge which was fantastic. It is about a 5 minute drive and it could be walked! The pool was refreshing and clean and the wait staff and lifeguard were very friendly. It was only opened this summer so some small improvements will happen here and there but overall. We would go back in a heartbeat.

FranceHowever, the spa experience fell short of the standards one would expect from a Marriott-affiliated property. The massage had the potential to be a relaxing interlude, but the lack of attentiveness and professionalism was disappointing: no prior questions were asked regarding allergies, sensitive areas or health conditions – which should be standard practice in any upscale spa. One of my friends received a treatment directly on an injured area, with no adjustment despite clear signs of discomfort. Moreover, the therapist’s attitude felt unprofessional: repeated sighs and robotic movements gave the unsettling impression that she simply wasn’t enjoying what she was doing. It’s a shame, as this type of oversight detracts from an otherwise enjoyable stay. A stronger alignment with international wellness standards would help elevate the spa to the level of excellence the rest of the staff already strives to deliver.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Cala Ponte Resort. The staff were kind and the surroundings well maintained. We especially appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and the peaceful setting.

United KingdomA cynical approach to making money. Nothing was complimentary and there was a charge for everything. For instance, only water was provided in the room for free on one night of four and when I asked how much a transfer would be to a local train station, we were quoted four times the amount that a local taxi company charged. They even charged 5 Euros for an espresso (whereas every other hotel at this level have provided a Nespresso machine in the room). This would be fine for a budget hotel but given this hotel is already quite highly priced it came across as money grabbing. The hotel is also a a good 30 minute walk from any decent restaurants etc so budget €20 euros for a return TukTuk for two most evenings.
Newly renovated, lovely rooms, great swimming pool, nice spa and well equipped gym. The restaurant was excellent (the chef was fantastic) although very expensive and some of the staff were very helpful.

United KingdomAs the hotel was approx a 20-30 minute walk from the town, a courtesy ride to/from Polignano would be a great idea
