Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBreakfast was not a good experience. Seemed like there was a lack of staff, lots of tables waiting to be cleared which led to a queue to be seated. The couple of waiters/waitresses that were working were trying their best, there just wasn't enough of them. The situation was made worse by 3 Faulty Towers characters (no joke) walking around trying to entertain, perhaps more actual restaurant staff would have been a wiser idea. Breakfast ingredients were cheap. There was a lack of a lot of items which again seemed to stem from a lack of staff. We felt sorry for the staff working that morning as they were doing the best they could.
Front desk staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Restaurant staff at breakfast were undermanned but trying their best to help everyone.

United KingdomMost of the staff could barely manage a smile - some literally never smiled, even at front desk or at breakfast. Very surprising for an IHG hotel Exceptions are Sam and Jack at the bar/restaurant, they were fantastic Food kept running out at the buffer breakfast
Great leisure facilities - steam room, sauna, pool and jacuzzi Great location Great with kids - there are drawing facilities everywhere, kids eat for free

United KingdomPillows were a bit lumpy, and there was a staff access door right next to our room which banged loudly in the mornings when staff were in and out, maybe a slow door closer installed would help. The key got reset everyday so we always ended up having to go back downstairs to have it redone by reception to gain access to our room.
Perfect location for an event on the seafront, staff were all very friendly and helpful throughout. Parking is a big bonus and reasonably priced. Shower was nice and powerful, towels nice and big.

United KingdomThe room (twin) was tiny too much furniture in it , you don’t need to extra chair and table with the huge TV unit, the air con didn’t work they give you a small fan. Not enough breakfast staff on , people were being seated at dirty tables as clean up wasn’t efficient. They also hiked up the prices due to the bank hol and festival , not unexpected but the 3 days were near to £900 and not value for money.
Very well located for town, beach & specifically victorious festival.

United KingdomThe restaurant food and service was very disappointing. We had to order our drink, starter, main course and dessert altogether when the waiter came to take the order. As we didn’t know if we’d have room for a dessert we didn’t order one. We had to pay for all the above before it was cooked and we ate it. The starters were cleared away and the mains were bought straight out. They had obviously been cooked for a while and were sat in the kitchen waiting for us to finish our starters. We had Gluten free pasta which was cooked in a tomato sauce that looked and tasted as if it had come from a jar from Asda, we ordered extra toppings one had pulled pork and the other smoked bacon. If we hadn’t ordered them it would have been just pasta and sauce with two small shavings of Parmesan. We didn’t sleep well as the double mattress was dipped in the middle and we kept rolling together.
Air conditioning was on when we arrived, we were able to turn it off when it got too cold. Hotel was close to the maritime museum which is why we came to Portsmouth. Toiletries in bathroom were luxurious.

United KingdomThe air con was broken in all of the rooms which was one of the search criteria for me booking there, we were given a table top fan which really is not an acceptable alternative. The tea making area in the room was filthy. The leisure centre facilities were a bit grotty, noticeable debris and build up between the slats in the sauna...gross. something else that was not functional was the hot tub.... Breakfast was standard and a good selection but given we paid £250 per night for a below average room I was really disgusted that I then had to pay further £12 per night for the breakfast.... I honestly might complain directly to the company as I feel like there's multiple issues with what I was promised Vs what was delivered.
The bed was comfy and check in we were given free ice cream
