How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewA Perfect Venue for a Magical Yoga and Wellness Retreat Villa Maricel was the ideal setting for my daughter’s recent yoga and wellness retreat – a truly unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the villa’s breathtaking views over the harbour and sea. The peaceful ambiance and stunning natural surroundings created a serene atmosphere that was absolutely perfect for yoga, exercise classes and relaxation. The villa itself is spacious, beautifully maintained, and very well equipped, offering a wonderful balance of luxury and comfort. Our guests felt right at home from day one. Its location is also a major plus—just a 10-minute walk from a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops, giving everyone the freedom to explore during their downtime. We found the layout of the villa particularly helpful for hosting a retreat. While the main bedrooms are of a high standard, it’s worth noting that the two rooms located beneath the swimming pool and another adjacent to the garage are a bit more basic by comparison—still very comfortable, but more modest. These rooms were ideal for accommodating our support staff and worked out perfectly. A huge thank-you to Jaume, the villa manager, who was an absolute delight—friendly, professional, and always ready to help with anything we needed. His support made the whole experience seamless. Villa Maricel exceeded our expectations and provided the perfect backdrop for a special and rejuvenating event. Highly recommended for retreats, group stays, or anyone looking for a beautiful, tranquil escape.

Verified reviewEverything was amazing. A lot of shared spaces, most of the rooms were amazing, the selection of kitchen appliances was extraordinary, having two dish washers and enough plates for several covers is a very nice touch. There are different spots for having dinner with a big group, nice pool and overall just a very nice place to stay. The oven did not work very well on the first night, but they immidiately repaired it on our second day - very good service!
The rooms in the pool house and on the ground floor were not AS nice as the other rooms. Still nothing wrong with them, but if sharing the price of the house with friends, the ones staying in those rooms should pay a little less :)

Verified reviewFantastic location near the beach and excellent restaurants. Wonderful pool. Great for multiple families with plenty of room. The manager Jaume was very attentive and solved any minor issues that came up quickly and was very helpful.
No air con but fans recently installed. Lacks some comfy outdoor seating. Some wear and tear on the pool and edging stones.

Verified reviewThe host Jaume was superb. He went above and beyond to help us with a medical emergency and generally helped make our stay enjoyable. The property is very comfortable and well equipped with a large swimming pool and spacious enough to accommodate an extended family. Its location high on the hillside affords beautiful views all round and it is but a short steep walk into the village itself and down to the local beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would highly recommend the property for family gatherings
It’s advertised as a 13 bedroom but one of the bedrooms is not as light and spacious as most of the others

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay at Villa Maricel and would like to share our experience. We especially want to highlight the exceptional hospitality of Jaume, the house administrator. He was always available whenever we needed him and made sure that we lacked nothing. Even when we encountered issues with the initial Wi-Fi connection, he promptly took action and replaced it, even doing so on a Saturday at midnight. After the repair, everything worked perfectly. Additionally, he generously offered to drive us to the supermarket, although we didn't take up the offer. The house itself was impressive. It was spacious, well-maintained, and had plenty of lounge chairs and a huge pool. The view from the villa was simply breathtaking – a perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. The location of the house was ideal, being in close proximity to both the beach and the supermarket. The proximity to Barcelona also allowed us to take a day trip to the city, which we greatly appreciated.
It's worth mentioning that Villa Maricel may not be the best choice for wild parties, but there are some clubs in Platja d'Aro that can provide entertainment. Regarding the age restriction for guests, we regret that it was somehow challenging in this case, as we didn't have a person under 25 years with us, and unfortunately, this was not mentioned during the booking process.

The moist smell was a bit strong in some rooms
