Arrived at hotel, completely locked. No previous informmation was given about the hotel not being manned. I booked it cause it was the only '5 star' hotel in that area, and when I got there it was no more than a glorified airbnb. I was locked outside for 30 minutes trying to get hold of staff, noone was working there, and I had to PAY 100 DOLLARS in order to get a code sent to open the door. It's 2 days later and I still have not been refunded that 100 dollars despite them saying it's on hold until you leave. The rooms were dirty and I have photo evidence, and there is NO way this is a 5 star, they are misrepresenting the ratings and I want my money back. They do not have ANY 5 star amenities and they're 3 star at best, and they are an AirBNB setup, not even a real hotel, there's no front of house staff, room service, nothing.

No staff, had to pay to get entracne on top of the booking fee, all of which was NOT mentioned before booking, so it's very decietful, Had I known, I wouldn't have booked. Staff was super rude and condescending on the phone. I had been driving for 5 hours and the lady on phone said "if you don't like the door policy I'll just cancel you're room and you can go somewhere else". Unreal rudeness. Photos show uncleaned bathroom surfaces, and the blankets were not washed, loads of white stuff on the main blanket so had to throw it off. At eye level of the bed was a nasty brioom haning full of dust and nastyness. Not really good for a 5 star hotel to put a dirty broom in the room? What is all that about?!?!?

Great location, easy access to the beach. Access to a clean deep pool 10ft6in (3.2m) which was nice. Nice view from balcony, safe provided in the room and a place to hang some clothes. Large mirror in the bedroom, quite spacious. A basic kitchenette was included in the room featuring a microwave, a sink, utensils and cutlery.

Mandatory valet parking is pain although it was free, you end up waiting around for 20/30 minutes cutting in to holiday time. (There was an online request your car service but this did not work as we discovered after waiting 45 minutes outside). The air conditioning was leaking and looked worn down, the water dripping on the tile floor is a real safety hazard and must be looked into. Those floors go like ice when they are wet. I nearly fell a few times.

The hostel is in a fantastic location beside the aquatic park cove and walking distance from lots of San Francisco's tourism big hitters. From the grounds you have excellent views of both Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. The building is part of the historic Fort Mason and the hostel makes great use of the architecture.

The staff were nice enough if a little disaffected, perhaps Californian relaxed. Rooms are a little old and without good AC or mosquito window frames so you trade off being hot all night with being bitten in your sleep because you're by the coast

Sound insolation is absent. We are heavy sleepers, but we were wide awake from 4am onwards due to heavy stomping in the room above us. Raised it, but by the point the staff was onsite, we had already checked out.
