What we particularly appreciated about this lodge is the many activities which are offered to you: Rooibos farm tour, San art walk, small hikes to see the flora and fauna. But if you wish to do nothing, then the room and communal areas are perfect for that. Exceptional food.

The farm is quite remote and very peaceful situated near the Matzikamma Mountains the view of which is spectacular in the light of the setting sun. The nearby brilliant Gifberg pass leaves the flowerlands of Namaqualand (well worth a visit in flower time) to reveal a remarkable fynbos area where there is a lot of rooibos tea growing. Never seen any hotel anywhere in the world with 4-5 cooled bottles of first-class white. South Africa at its best. The place is a little quirky. We loved the experience of being on a working farm. We loved the citrus trees amongst the fynbos and obviously the waterfall. There are lots of birds on the property. We have visited Clanwilliam frequently and have always enjoyed our stay there. The healing waters of the spring. The rock pools are so great, relaxing ... your body and spirit are renewed after relaxing in the pool or rock pools. The absolute quietness are wonderful. Each property or house is designed so that you feel you are the only people around. Love the privacy and connecting with nature. The Klawer hotel is something to visit. We had a very interesting meal there. The town is quaint and a nice safe walk around it in the evening was a pleasant surprise. The Old Jail is a must see together with the nurseries. Lodge was very accommodating and people seem friendly and helpful. The Shell garage attendants were funny and made filling up an experience. I will never return as everything from the Maintenace round the pool, inside the chalet and outside was not done. Area in the reception was disgusting and open wires under the jacuzzi and outside the chalet after what seems to be a geyser that was replaced. No Wifi for 24 hours on arrival, no water for 3 hours, jacuzzi not working and tripping all the time, grass in the main pool area left very long during peak season TRULY A POOR EXPERIENCE AND I WIL NEVER GO BACKGuest review byArnold - 8.0

Small town but central for travellers. Wine tasting nearby. Clanwilliam, Biedouw Valley and flower route. Niewhwoudtville and nature reserves. Klawer Hotel is a older hotel, great for a stop over. Absolutely stunning views. Definitely recommend high clearance vehicle. Lots of gravel roads, some are not great. When it rains, the roads are dangerous. Lots of driving through very deep puddles and some bridges washed away. But A+ for adventure.Guest review byAnonymous
