The area is beautiful; however, the tragedy of the loss of the Old Town Lahaina casts a pall over the area. If you have memories of before the fire, it is very, very sad to see the remains of buildings and know that over 100 people lost their lives. The sentiment of Lahaina Strong is wonderful and uplifting but as you speak with residents, the current, somber message is that we will never regain what has been lost and there is no definitive plan or timeline for rebuilding. You are asked to not take photos and to respect the area. There is a bypass road that has been built.Guest review byGeorgeUnited States - 10.0

all the beaches around there are really pretty the food is very good. A lot of food all over that location a lot of things to do. I would’ve liked to travel to the different islands. It was hard to book a boat ride too expensive. I wish it was a little bit cheaper to do different events. I think everything is over price that’s what I didn’t like about this island. It’s very hard to plan outings with the big group of people we had 13 and we couldn’t afford to be doing all the different events with the group that big my other family stayed in a different resort but we wanted to stay all together, and it was very expensive to book.Guest review byMelizaUnited States - 10.0

The town happens to be located on the serene side of Maui. Waves 2-4 foot. Beginner surfing. Extremely clear waters to snorkel. Shops and food abound, golf and luxury nearby. For the vacation goer who likes people.Guest review bymikeUnited States - 10.0
Everything handy- restaurants, groceries, coffee place.
Everything handy- restaurants, groceries, coffee place. We liked the beaches nearby and we love Lahaina Front Street which is a short drive. Quiet at night and safe. A bit dark to walk around at night but that is Hawaii.Guest review byKimCanada - 10.0
Kapalua, the place itself, was beautiful.
Kapalua, the place itself, was beautiful. The resort was beautiful. The community center office’s staff needs more training. They were rude, not familiar with their work, seem to be not care about their customers. They care more about what are not their business and not their responsibility than helping their customers.Guest review byMichelle - 10.0
Lahaina is just recovering from the fire.
Lahaina is just recovering from the fire. So Honokowai & Kahana have become the new Lahaina. The ocean is so so beautiful. Some of the many resorts are awesome. The boardwalk (beach walkway) is a refreshing way to do additional exercise. I love Lahaina and hope it is restored ASAP. The maui bus is free for seniors and provides great views of destinations to visit. There are many places to eat & shop in Whalers Village & @ the area. Swimming, snorkeling, & walking are very enjoyable.Guest review byMarianneUnited States - 6.0

This hotel has a nice location and is surrounded by nice restaurants and stores in the village. It is a nice hotel with a small pool but no access to the beach. The room was good; nothing special or unique was there. The bathroom was dated. All rooms have a very small side ocean view and an extensive view of the back roof of the common facilities and Congress Center buildings. So, the view from the balconies is not pleasant. We did not have a food plan, but we purchased some food at the pool. We found it too expensive for the quality of the food served. We had a special discount being part of the conference, but even then, I found the room too expensive for the quality of the hotel, pool and beach,Guest review byAnaCanada - 10.0
Loved Kapalua and would stay there again.
Loved Kapalua and would stay there again. Quiet area at the Ridge and very relaxing and not touristy like Kaanapali and Lahaina. Great location to nice beaches north of Kapalua and plenty of snorkeling time. Highly recommend Slaughterhouse Beach and Napili Bay for turtles, snorkeling. The historic Honolua Store in Kapalua is a must see for sundries, souvenirs and sandwiches. Oh and don't forget the Dole whip machine near the deli. Great coffee shop on H-30 called Hawaiian Village Coffee.Guest review byKat WiseUnited States - 10.0
Check out Papi's Ohana...
Check out Papi's Ohana...Unbelievable cinnamon rools...but go early and prepare to wait in line. Beyond Papis Ohana was a 1Texaco Station with an ABC store. Inside they served hot meals. Prime Rib with two sides...$19.99! We had a family size chicken dinner for $20! The restaurant on property was very good...but very expensive, as all is in Hawaii. There is a grocery store across the street ( again, very expensive). There is also a small restaurant in that shopping center that is right up by the road...very good and cheap! Can't remember the name. We also loved going to Hula Grill at Whalers Village. We would sit at the high table in front of the bar and just people watch and ocean watch.Guest review bySusanUnited States - 8.0

A car is really needed as walking is difficult in areas with no sidewalks and busy, narrow roads. Not many restaurants. Some very nice parks and beaches. The food trucks have great food and across the street is a large grocery store with a good selection of takeaway food.Guest review byDavidUnited States
