- From US$115.54 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 493 reviewsUnbelievably good value and such a beautiful house. We had the entire top floor which was furnished beautifully with a complete kitchen with everything you needed to eat like kings. The bedrooms are large and the beds comfortable and in the front room you’re lulled to sleep by the murmur of the river flowing over the rocks. We couldn’t believe that we got a whole house top that can accommodate 8 friends or family for less than the price of an indifferent average motel room. Did we mention the beautiful balcony that runs the width of the house? Take the love of your life for a stay there and have the most romantic evening ever by candlelight to the sound of rippling water and sweet nothings. The house has a Maytag laundry as well so we left there with our suitcases full of clean clothes. The folk running the house were just the best, super friendly with great information on the locality and also how to get up to the Giant Sequioas via the old Sierra Highway. The trees opposite the house on the river reverberate with birdsong, Black Phoebe’s, Cedar Waxwings, California Quail - so many beautiful species to see along with the Murder of Ravens! Sooo, do you think we liked it there?Guest review byLeszekIreland
- From US$196 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,602 reviewsEverything. Check in was fast and efficient. The place was beautifully decorated. A lot of love and care went into creating a warm and welcoming ambiance for the optimum guest experience and they succeeded!! You have everything you'll need for a pleasant stay. The beds and linens are high quality and comfortable; the Villa is convenient and in a perfect location, right off the 395, but surprisingly, you don't hear the traffic from the road. There is a plethora of yummy food choices only steps away from the Villa...literally in every direction. The grounds were clean, and beautifully manicured. Well positioned lighting provided good security at night...felt very safe! Thank you so much for your care and outstanding hospitality!! Can't wait to visit again!! ❤️Guest review bySpiritravelerUnited States
- From US$169.44 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 540 reviewsPerfect location right in the middle of town. With the comfy outdoor chairs you can either take in the early morning and watch the resident squirrel feeding from the tree box or have a relaxing drink in the evening before you go to bed. Huge rooms with very comfortable beds. Large fridge to keep your drinks cool. Modern bathroom. Solid traditional feel. In close proximity to local microbrewery with great beer and food. All the activities on Kern river in walking distance. Very quiet at night. Staff very helpful and friendly. A place you would always be happy to return to.Guest review byCarolaUnited Kingdom
- From US$167.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.3Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 1,825 reviewsThe room was great, had a microwave, coffee machine and a mini fridge. The bathroom was clean and provided with towels and shampoos. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. It was a bit cold but there was a heating system. We had a problem with opening the door but the very nice lady from the reception helped us despite the rain. We could also leave the key in a box on our way out.Guest review byZuzannaUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 5.6Passable - What previous guests thought, 524 reviewsI had my expectations super low after reading all the reviews but didn’t experience any of the negatives in the reviews. The furniture was so nice and room so spacious. Saved a ton of money and payed less than last time we came to see the big trees at a different place that was way smaller and not even close to as nice.Guest review byAndyUnited States

The swimming hole on the river across from the hotel was nice too. The room was spotless and comfortable. We will definitely recommend to friends.Guest review byEmilyUnited States
- From US$66.08 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.4Good - What previous guests thought, 868 reviewsUnique experience of staying in a tipi. Although it was a very hot day we slept well and outside pool was very refreshing after long journey. Yes, it's close to the road and therefore noisy, but was no problem for us. Restrooms were clean.Guest review byNataljaLatvia

This is my first review, but I feel compelled to warn other travelers. The place is completely overpriced with poorly maintained facilities. The room was dirty, with cobwebs everywhere. Worst of all was the noise: the air conditioning and the fridge were unbearable, and I had to turn the AC off just to get some rest. The staff was not welcoming at all. To make things even worse, we found a surprise “amenity fee” added to the bill, which had never been mentioned in the booking details and about which no one informed us. We tried to ask by email and phone why this fee was applied, but never received an answer. Not only that, but they even hung up on us without any explanation and then disconnected the line. Overall, it was a terrible experience for the whole family.Guest review bydiegoSpain - 10.0

There's a McDonald's which is always good for feeding children at a reasonable price. There's a good Mexican restaurant in town with a very friendly waitress. The motion picture museum is well done. The Alabama hills are very interesting along with Mt Whitney.Guest review byunclexeres - 10.0

I love being in Porterville, going by Murry Park, Zalud Park, the skatepark for the kids and Giovannies Pizzeria and Arcade, not to mention it has a good amount of shopping outlets for a fairly small town!! And even amid construction in streets, it is always easy to traverse around town!Guest review byLandrum - 8.0

Not much to do in Lindsay, but it is close to the Sierra Nevada Mountains (Sequoia). We had a pretty good pizza at Tony's Pizza in Lindsay. My grandmother lived 50 years in Lindsay; my father was raised there, and I spent much time visiting in my youth. It was fun driving around and seeing my old haunts and seeing so much change since 50's, 60's, and 70's. The City Hall in Lindsay has been kept in pristine condition, a welcome reminder of this city in its heyday.Guest review byNormanUnited States - 10.0

We loved taking the tram from the Giant Forest Museum.
We loved taking the tram from the Giant Forest Museum. It takes you all over. We hiked up Moro Rock for a beautiful view (avoid if scared of heights) and hiked to see Thorpe's Log. Then, we visited General Sherman (largest tree in the world). It was gorgeous weather when we went. The more hiking you do, the less people you'll see. So, we loved the hikes.Guest review byJoanna - 10.0

Very well-equipped house with very friendly host in a very quiet but remote region. Need to drive thru' very winding country roads but scenery along the way is great. Need to prepare food, as nearest grocery store and restaurant are at least one hour drive away.Guest review byNaoraiSingapore - 10.0

Booked to stay in Independence as we wanted to visit Manzanar on our way south. But we wished we had gone further south to Lone Pine and then doubled back north in the morning as there was much more choice of accommodation in Lone Pine. Manzanar is worth visiting as is the Film Museum in Lone Pine.Guest review bymandk88United Kingdom - 10.0

Before our stay at the home, we visited Sequoua National Park and enjoyed the General Sherman sequoia tree, council hike and Hospital Rock. From there we drove to the property past the vast reservoir and through charming tiny towns. The winding road provided majestic views of the Sierra Nevadas as we passed by cattle farms and braked for colorful roosters, grouse and deer.Guest review byJamesUnited States
