FAQs about hotels in Hawaii
The American Dream
Hawaii is everything you’ve seen in films and more. The USA’s 50th and most exotic state comprises over 19 volcanic islands with diverse landscapes, amazing beaches and rainforest greenery. It’s an exclusive destination, so of all Hawaii hotels, 5 star properties make up a decent proportion.
Home to Pearl Harbour, the capital Honolulu on O’ahu island has many hotels by Waikiki beach, immortalised in song and famous for excellent nightlife and surfing, as anyone familiar with Hawaii-5-0 will know. Northern O’ahu has some of the best winter surfing around.
The nearest island is laidback Molokai and to its south is unspoilt Lanai. East is the island home to most Hawaii hotels – Maui. Hiking to the green peaks of its rugged interior gives a completely different viewpoint. Of course, the beaches are still the main attraction and there is a long line of hotels on the beach on Booking.com, from green Lahaina all the way to beautiful Kapalua. Other fantastic beaches are found at Kihei and neighbouring Wailea.
South-west is Hawai’I (Big Island), dominated by Mauna Loa – one of the world’s largest volcanoes. In its foothills are the joint resorts of Kailua and Kona, while the northern Kohala coast provides spectacular scenery. In the east Hilo curves around a bay and is home to the island’s airport.

I think the biggest thing was the cost - the prices of food and general goods have tripled since our last visit most people we spoke to said the same - I would say the visitor numbers were down possibly due to this - tours and experiences were expensive - the locals also said the same how they are struggling to live day to day. The plastic used in Hawaii was excessive - there was nothing environmental about the place at all I did see some wildlife with lost legs and one bird had fishing twine and a bead wrapped around its leg - the poor thing was shivering but unfortunately I couldn't help it.Guest review byJenniferNew Zealand - 8.0

The area is beautiful; however, the tragedy of the loss of the Old Town Lahaina casts a pall over the area. If you have memories of before the fire, it is very, very sad to see the remains of buildings and know that over 100 people lost their lives. The sentiment of Lahaina Strong is wonderful and uplifting but as you speak with residents, the current, somber message is that we will never regain what has been lost and there is no definitive plan or timeline for rebuilding. You are asked to not take photos and to respect the area. There is a bypass road that has been built.Guest review byGeorgeUnited States - 8.0

We got in late and although it was a short drive from the airport, it was a bit hard to find. We stayed one night and then travelled to Hilo. After our friend’s wedding we returned for another night before departing from Kona Airport.Guest review byKarleneUnited States - 8.0
Kapaa seems to be an old town.
Kapaa seems to be an old town. It is not like Poipu or Hanalei but good small town. We had great meal at Fish Bar Deli, local foods (spam musubi and chicken karate) to take out at Wailua Drive In, and big bowl of pho at Pho Kapaa. These places were busy with local people and we enjoyed their meals as well as services.Guest review byRyokoUnited States - 10.0
I LOVE Hilo!!! It still holds "The Essence of Hawaii."
I LOVE Hilo!!! It still holds "The Essence of Hawaii." It is not overrun with tall modern buildings, and "Tacky Tourist Attractions." It maintains an Old Hawaii Charm. You're not overwhelmed with street performers and aggressive sales people trying to pull you into their cosmetics stores. Yet there are still some homeless people there which is not good. However, I feel very safe in Hilo. There are nearby beautiful gardens and great beaches! Hilo is surrounded by so much natural beauty. There are some great restaurants there as well. I really like all of them, and I make sure to have at least one dinner at Hilo Bay Cafe. I also always make sure to visit the Imiloa Astronomy Center by UH Hilo. It is an excellent place to learn about the history & culture of Hawaii. And their planetarium has amazing presentations!Guest review byGayleUnited States - 10.0

This property is right in between the Marriott and the grand Wailea with beach front access. This property has beach service where they have towels and lounge chairs for the property. The property is absolutely beautiful. I found the pools to be a little too shallow for swimming. This property is located right next to a lot of restaurants and shopping. We would definitely come back.Guest review byAShleyUnited States - 8.0

What a cute little town that made it easy for us when we needed to leave Maui to head to the airport at the tail end of our trip. We liked this location if you decide to do Road to Hana or the summit of Haleakala. This made it so much easier to get on the road early.Guest review byHanhUnited States - 10.0
The view from the property was OK.
The view from the property was OK. There was a cruise ship docked across the way and several garage type businesses across the street. No real ocean view. The plants are beautiful and it's fun to see the chickens and roosters running around every where you go.Guest review byJanet - 10.0
Princeville is a quiet residential neighborhood.
Princeville is a quiet residential neighborhood. Hanalei is a village about 15 minutes, with some nice restaurant and boutiques. Bigger town, Kappa is 35 minutes. However, Princeville has a grocery store with all your needs. I really enjoyed Princeville and will stay again there. Kauai is a low-key beautiful island with Waimea Canyon n much more to offer.Guest review byarceliaUnited States - 10.0

The house is full of mold 3 of the 4 visitor got sick while we were there, and I'm still sick four days later. All of our clothes and suitcases smell like mildew. We had to wash all of our clothes when we got home (even the one's that we didn't wear). Had to put our suitcases outside to air them out when we returned, but it didn't help much. I believe we deserve a full refund! We would also like compensation for our ruined suitcases. Please call me.Guest review byReeves
