- From US$73.78 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 252 reviewsThe staff are really lovely. You can order a massage at the front desk and the masseuse comes to your room. As of Feb 2025, 400b for a Thai massage and 600b for an oil massage. You can take a tuktuk to the market for 80b roundtrip or it's a 25min walk. It's a 10min walk the other direction to the mangrove forest. There are laundry services for 35b per piece of clothing and they'll do it within the day if you send it in the morning. It's mostly Thai tourists there, everyone really nice and respectful. There's a fire show on the beach at the weekends too. It's good value for money considering the high quality of the location and beautiful swimming pool. There's also a cafe next to reception with really nice quality iced coffee and drinks. A real luxury cafe.Guest review byYasamanUnited Kingdom

It's just a big capital.
It's just a big capital. A bit dirty, chaotic, too many people. You can go to the Grand Palace, enjoy a ride on the river, and perhaps go to a party. I enjoyed very much the ZOO. There are much better places in Thailand.Guest review byJanCzech Republic - 8.0
A big city, the air is much better than in Bangkok.
A big city, the air is much better than in Bangkok. Renting a scooter is good way to get around the city. Officially an international drivers license for motorcycle is required. But I have been there many times and was luckily not stopped by the police. I am vegan, and fortunately there are many vegan restaurants. Unfortunately I don't particularly like Thai food, but :) fortunately there are markets everywhere and plenty of tropical fruits. Also many good vegetables, if you want to cook your own food. Chiang Mai is full of markets where you can get anything from food to cloth, to massage. My wife enjoyed massage she got in one of the temples. Ah, yea, the temples are really impressive, even amazing. And there are so unbelievably many of them. They are everywhere, on main streets, and on side streets. They have big court yards, many temples are open for visitors. Great places to rest or meditate. Their peaceful quite atmosphere, is a big contrast to the rest of the city. In the morning you can see the monks waling around the markets begging for food or perhaps money too. People give them even touch their feet, and then the monks put a holy face on and recite some nonsense. Having received the monks blessings people go away in the same way is if they just bought some cucumbers, or a news paper. Just a normal thing to do, part of the daily routine. One remarkable thing about Thailand is that it is *CLEAN*. Streets are clean, restaurants are clean, toilets are clean. The hygienic standards easily match the cleanest of European countries. This is a huge contrast to India, Pakistan, Nepal which disgustingly filthy. (I have to say that even though I love India). Unlike India/Pakistan/Nepal street food and restaurants in Thailand are safe. The pictures are not from Chiang Mai but from a smaller places some 2 or 3 hours away from Chiang Mai.Guest review byVivartoDenmark - 10.0

There are lots of stalls for bargain hunters, heaps of food options and of course a variety of nightlife spots to keep you entertained. Choose your timing, if you want to avoid crowds then don't go in the evening. You can book all your tours at one of the many outlets. And you'll find the best exchange rates at the currency exchange booths. Be prepared for people to be constantly trying to get your attention for goods and services. I'd recommend doing at least one island tour, go to Old Phuket Town and treat the elephants to a delightful scrub.Guest review byLisaAustralia - 8.0

Staying at Sunshine Hotel on Soi 8 is a good location (close to the beach & bars / walking street). The price for the room with breakfast included was the best thing because it allowed me to stay for 29 nights. The options of eating street food or at restaurants close by is also an advantage. I would recommend staying at the hotel to friends & will come back again in the future. The staff are all friendly, in particular Earth.Guest review bySantoAustralia - 6.0

If you want the beach and trips from the beach to the islands do not recommend you go this time of the year. As three single travellers there were very few bars, lots of restaurants that sold alcohol but no bars you could sit at and have a chat only found four and three of those were a good 30min walk from the centre. Ao Nang seems to have changed a lot over the years and has lost a lot of it's character as it is now catering more for families, which is not a all bad if that is what you are looking for but comparing it with Hua Hin, or Koh Samui, it just doesn't.Guest review byDennisAustralia - 10.0

I love it here . Has everything and anything. For me I like the beach , the restaurants, the markets and am happy to do that all day at one of the beach front bungalows. But there is plenty of night life if you want it . A lively place, lovely locals, easy to go other places on the island with taxis . The beach is beautiful. Warm water . Food and drinks along the beach .lots to see and do in the town. So many restaurants to choose from . Capybara cafe is so funny had a great time there . The night markets are greatGuest review bydeniseNew Zealand - 10.0

It's a place that is full of go go bars and sex shows so be prepared to be approached on numerous occasions when you walk anywhere. This wasn't a place that I would choose to stay, but it could be what others are looking for. It was a short stop for us as we were island hopping so it was the perfect location for a night.Guest review byLissaUnited Kingdom
