Long before regular check-in hours. The small hotel was locked. No staff there at noon. I dialed the hotel's phone number, and five minutes later the owner arrived by car to check me in, and I was pampered with good additional service. The hotel and the restaurant are well maintained. Very nice and clean room. Well equipped, including international TV channels. Super WiFi. Breakfast was a la carte, starting at 7 a.m., a choice of five dishes, good and tasty, and so was the coffee. In the courtyard shared with the hotel there is a pizzeria that also serves burgers (they were brilliant). Quiet area, very warm room, in our room there is also an electric heater, probably for times when there are problems with the heating system, which I found very nice to have, but we did not need to use it. Considering that I had the train back at a time when I couldn't serve breakfast, I was asked if they could still prepare my breakfast to take away to serve later on the train. Later that room was occupied and I changed to another house, which meant walking via garden to breakfast room. That room was a bit cheaper, but not the same view and direct access to breakfast place anymore. But still all in all very good. Best value is receptionist going really out of her way to get some information in town needed as well as trying to find the best way to travel further to Moldova. Very clean, cozy, warm and wonderful apartment. It was my best night, as I slept as a baby. The bed is so soft, that I did not want to get up. Only morning coffee made me to open the eyes. By the way, yes, you can make a fresh coffee, as there is a coffee machine. It 12 from 10. As the owner is so sweet and helps with all questions. Galati was special, two days was a bit short. - We took an early morning ferry over the Danube and back as foot passengers before breakfast. Fabulous sunrise, nice adventure. - Evening walk along the Faleza with beautiful impressing sculptures from the seventies. - Recommend restaurant Blue Acqua, good athmosphere and delicious fish dishes. The kitchen and bathroom were very dirty and very old. No restoration were made for ancient times. Especially the pots and pans and forks and knives were dirty. The toilet brush made me sick instantly (no exaggerating!). The sleeping room includes the refrigerator and the electrical heating system which both turn on and off every few minutes and are very loud. Beautiful city which maybe stayed a bit behind in current Romanian blooming. If you have interest for mid 19th architecture, you will have a nice trip. Eminescu parc is beautiful. People are nice and fervent there. A lot of foreign words, French, English, Italian can be seen on the boutiques. This city has a soul, but also something depressive. It's a nice dual character. The graveyards are as well of some interests. Bus lines are well working. Take care with taxi. Some drivers there are the last remaining cheaters into Romania those days.Guest review byAlexandre
