- From £112.65 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 436 reviewsI don't understand why so many people are complaining about this hotel. It is as close to the ferry terminal as you can get. , The rooms are clean and tidy. The pool has a nice view on Faial, and is beeing cleaned every morning (and they are probably the only ones having a pool in Pico anyway...) You can walk in less than 5 minutes to all the different tour operators (Diving, Hiking, Whalewatching, Rentalcars....) and restaurants. It is maybe a bit dated, but I felt like they were doing their best at being welcomig. They even organise a mini breakfast buffet from 04 a.m - 7 a.m for people leaving early on hikes or diving tours...! Keep in mind that every Airbnb in the area is more expensive , without offering you room service, breakfast or a pool area. If you come to Pico for its great nature activities, and want an easy hotel, thats your place to go!!Guest review byYannLuxembourg
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 165 reviewsHonestly, we loved absolutely everything. The location was absolutely stunning, the view from the bedroom was breathtaking, the bed was very comfortable, the kitchen facilities fantastic and it was just perfect sitting outside on the picnic tables for breakfast and dinner overlooking the ocean. The pool area was gorgeous, nice and quiet and we loved the loungers again, overlooking the ocean and natural swimming pools. This has been by far the best accommodation that we have stayed at in the Azores, and the staff were lovely as well.Guest review byAlexanderUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 42 reviewsThe house is beautiful and so is the garden. We appreciated the nice little touches and wonderful surprise when we arrived. The house was practical and extremely good value. We liked the location being close to one of the piscinas naturais and we were able to swim daily and also walk to the town. It was possible to get to the other main town in the bus. Overall, highly recommend for anyone wanting to relax and take advantage of nature away from the more touristy parts of the island (Magdalena).Guest review bySeanCanada
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 66 reviewsYou are in your own private cottage with a bedroom, bathroom, dining room, full kitchen and washer machine. Outside you have a beautiful patio with amazing views overlooking the ocean and a wood fire bbq grill. They have multiple cottages, some by the waterfront and some in the hills so make sure to book the one that fits your wishes. The host/receptionist is very friendly, super responsive through calls and Whatsapp. She was very timely, professional and super honest. 10/10Guest review byNicolaSwitzerland

- From £142.98 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 346 reviewsLovely bungalows tucked away in nature, just outside Madalena—perfectly located. The bungalows were spot on: clean, cozy, beautifully decorated, and well-equipped. The team at Alma do Pico was incredibly friendly and gave us lots of great tips. Breakfast was delivered to our door each morning, always fresh and made with care.Guest review byAnaPortugal
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 152 reviewsStaying at Lajes de Pico for some days was perfect. The hosts are very helpful with questions about the island and activities and make sure your stay is excellent. They helped me with finding a guide for the climb at mount pico and booked the whale spotting for me. Also a huge plus was the view over the mountain.Guest review byRobinNetherlands

Madalena is an awesome place to spend time in.
Madalena is an awesome place to spend time in. You can book acitivities with agencies near the port. There are a couple of really good restaurants. Pico wine is amazing! During my stay in Pico (may) the weather was extremely changing and it was very hard to plan activities such a hiking Mt. Pico that depends on the weather. The temperature could feel like 30c while it was sunny and felt like 10c when cloudy and rainy. The same goes for the wind. Averall worth the experience tho. :)Guest review byMartinCanada - 8.0

São Roque is very spread out, so a car is needed if you stay outside the heart of the village. Most restaurants were closed, so dining out was tricky (end of March). It is worth staying in a self catering place when going off season. The minimarket by the fire-station is well stocked. Safe swimming spot at the Naval Club. Close to hiking trails.Guest review byOdilePortugal - 10.0
Lajes do Pico is a small and very cute town.
Lajes do Pico is a small and very cute town. It is clean and well maintained and has a few nice restaurants. We liked walking along the shore, eating at Ritinha restaurant, and eating Pastel de Nata at the Pastellaria.Guest review byLiviuCanada - 10.0
Quiet place.
Quiet place. Only one restaurant open starting 7pm, 2 small shops and 1 bar. No no tourist attractions. Perfect if you looking place for silence and rest and you are ready to drive to see something interesting or to go to restaurant. Recommended is to have car -- buses are not real option.Guest review byWojciechPoland - 10.0

The accommodation is few km's from Madelena and, to be flexible, you need a car to get there. Nice to walk over the lava boulders, enjoy the view at Failal and Sao Jorge. Go to the Terra Alto, nice quiet landscape.Guest review byG.J.Netherlands - 8.0

Madelena is a small town but with a few good restaurants and bathing places. It is right under Pico mountain. Access to Pico is very proximate There is an interesting coastal walk heading out of the town and great examples of the lava stone enclosures where the vines are grown. In the town there is a lovely wine bar serving wine tastings with a regional cheese platter.Guest review byGinaIreland - 10.0
Highly recommended
Highly recommended If you can secure the separate apartment in this delightful complex of clever conversions then you'll get a better view than from the ground floor apartment we had ( which was still very good ) - worth asking the host about which properties are available for your stay and ascertaining the viewsGuest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Here you can experience the wilder remoter part of Pico Island. I walked along the marked trails about 10km to the Miradouro de Alto de Cedros, finding some woodland trails on the steep hillside. If I'd had another day I'd have taken the bus to Piedade and walked back along the coast. Praia itself was quiet, with walks to the beach, a handy local shop and passing buses.Guest review byCaroline SwainUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Really good location if you don't have a car.
Really good location if you don't have a car. Really close to the airport and ferry terminal with plenty restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance. If you're planning on climbing Pico, then having a bit of spare time is a good idea, as the weather may mean you have to change the date. It took me three attempts to get a good day!Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The ocean is crystal clear.
The ocean is crystal clear. The mountain is absolutely spectacular. Everything is green and the flowers are beautiful. The subtropical temperature is perfect. People are very nice, and many speak English. It is very reasonably price to eat out. Things are very slow paced, which is great for those seeking piece and quiet on vacation.Guest review byMarlene
