Everything! From the excellent and detailed wine tasting, the views of the property, the infinity swimming pool with sunset view, the dinner and breakfast service, the painting with wine in their little garden, it was all beyond perfect. Highly recommend Ventozelo hotel and quinta for the best Duoro experience!! Perfect for couples and small groups. We couldn't hike as we were tired but this property has multiple mapped hikes which one can do as an activity.

Never have had a more luxurious stay and experience in the hotel. The infinity pools with a view straight on Douro River and valley are just breathtaking. I recently had my wedding ceremony at this hotel and it is THE BEST. Such a wonderful, gorgeous location on the Douro river. Nice outdoor bar/restaurant and pool lounge area. Easy to grab a boat ride or arrange visits to quintas in the area. Staff work around the clock to make the place comfortable and accomodating. The food is great. Can't recommend it enough!

Great space to chill and relax: pool, bar area, restaurant with great local food and wine. Super friendly staff. The breakfast was absolutely amazing, we have been travelling in Portugal for a bit and this was by far the best we had. There were lots of healthy options, including vegetables (which we really appreciate), but of course the typical pancakes, breads and such were available too.

I rarely give 10s in my life. But I have to say everything, specially the staff was exceptional. I felt like I should send an email congratulating the HR director for its team. It was a rainy January weekend where we felt at home and pampered in the most kind and attentive way. Food, activities and facilities were also an absolute best.

Our stay couldn’t have been more perfect. Our hosts were so kind and caring we felt like they had become our friends. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The breakfast offerings were delicious and we had home cooked four course dinners both evenings that were very satisfying. Our hosts arranged a winery tour for us that we greatly enjoyed.

We had great conact with the host Ana before arrival to arange check-in. She did everything to let us feel comfortable. Great room and bathroom, very well equiped and styled with good taste.     One of the most special places we have ever stayed - the location is just stunning, the rooms are immaculately clean and beautifully designed, and Cedelia and Deri and their team are the most generous hosts. They were particularly kind in helping my husband who injured himself before we arrived. We also enjoyed the wine made in house (we particularly liked the rosé) and delicious meals from Deri (we tried most of the tapas menu including cod fritters, cheese board, salad, burger, fries and pizza and all were very tasty). Thank you again for this special stay.

    Both the place and service level was that of a 5-star luxury resort. Very beautiful and modern property, with spacious common areas. They have a gorgeous pool surrounded by nature, and they are building a spa and indoor pool. We notice that even the little things like coffee machine and pots were from a good brand. They did not spare any expense to make their guests feel comfortable. The service from Anna was impeccable, she was welcoming and helpful with suggestions.

    This is such a nice hotel in a beautiful location close to Pinhao (walking distance). The view over Douro river is breathtaking and the different facilities so nicely renovated. The breakfast one of the best I have ever had and the dinner restaurant served super good food - no need to eat in the village. Stay at the hotel and enjoy the facility, the view and the great food. Of course the wines are excellent and also - to our surprise - the beer.

    The staff surprised us with cake and a bottle of wine on our arrival (it was my husband's bday). Beautiful hotel, spectacular views, great food, friendly staff, a chef's garden, vineyard and relaxing pools and spa. We enjoyed our time relaxing. What a wonderful treat after walking the camino portugese. The sommelier, Ferminio, was so friendly and kind. We will recommend to friends and family.

    The area is beautiful with friendly people and very good restaurants. Plenty of places to stay but highly recommend Casa da Azenha. They make you feel like family. The wineries in the area are full so make sure you make reservations. It's worth the trip

    Nice and modern hotel with a relaxing atmosphere. Nice restaurant with a view on the hill. We also enjoyed the indoor heated pool. The hotel is located in an area of cheap apartment buildings and the surroundings are not enjoyable. Seen from the outside, the hotel is also ugly, except from the outside swimming pool area.

    Quaint little town on the Doura Valley. It's built on a fairly steep hill, so bring your walking shoes! Good choice of restaurants (although check opening times). Lots of river based attractions (cruises) along with wine (port) tasting. If you don't like port or watery things avoid.

    Vila Real is a nice town with all factilities available, some nice and affordabled places to eat or have a drink. It is within 30 minutes of driving from the Douro valley. A great ride will bring you in the wineries over there. Be prepared that wine tasting in the Douro valley is overpriced.

    I am so thankful this small hotel was recommended to us.

    I am so thankful this small hotel was recommended to us. Our host,Felipe was by far the most gracious person we encountered during are time in Portugal. The hotel was warm with so many extra touches to make you feel at home, and our room had a fantastic view of the Douro River. There was an excellent breakfast each morning. The house cat,Mia was a kick. If you are in the Douro, I highly recommend you stay at Imaginario d'El-Rei.

    Breathtaking views. The area is stunning and so peaceful. We drove into some of the small villages and the locals were so friendly. We prefer to eat away from the tourist areas and we were not disappointed in this area. The food was fresh and tasty and very reasonable.

    The Quinta de Sao Luiz, where we were staying, made a reservation for us at a restaurant in Tabuaco. The drive to the restaurant was challenging due to the serpentine road and rainy weather. I don't think there was much to do in that small town, but we had an okay experience at the restaurant.

    Beautiful place by the Douro river. But it is a bit far from other attractions and villages. Also no supermarket or restaurants nearby. You have to take the train or car to get there. But if you want a special experience in the beautiful Douro valley, this is the place.

    The hotel is situated in a quiet spot which suited us perfectly as we wanted to chill. There’s nothing much to do in the area. If you’re looking for boat trips, wine tours etc it might be better to stay further up river in Pinhao or Porto.

    This is a great place to spend the best time in the Douro Valley and enjoy the surroundings with the best views, terrace vineyards and wineries. The outdoor pool attracts you even more, especially if you have a teenager who wants to spend time around the pool / beach.
