The huge fine sand beach is very near, just to step stairs down from the street. The hotel JUPITER has also a large swimming pool. The breakfast at the large restaurant was fantastic with lots of fresh choice of healthy food and even with a glass of champagne to choose. The Xmas Party of 50 persons was in the evening including a buffet dinner with good food of many choices. The service of drinks was quick and polite. Really fun, lovely town. We loved the old town, it was filled with character. Lots of little shops and stalls and every type of cuisine you could possibly want! Faro is compact enough to see in 2 days. The old town is lovely and will be better when the derelict buildings are renovated . Restaurant is good. We liked O Castelo , the food was excellent, service first class and the Fado singers and players added to the lovely atmosphere . Avoid the little tourist train. It was very uncomfortable/ bumpy. Tavira is very pretty. The architecture of the older buildings is beautiful and every effort is made to keep the period properties as they should be. Aljezur is a great location to visit if you like nature, surfing, good food, a slower pace of life. I would recommend staying in Aljezur, getting a car to drive around to different beaches and villages where you can find good restaurants. Amazing place lots of restaurants and bars but it is all spaced out if you have good legs this is no problem. Of course you can hire a car and drive out at night but if you want to drink you need to walk as we didn't see 1 taxi on our 9 night stay. Find accommodation near to Mareta beach as that's about central. Very young area lots of fit surfing people day and night which is great. There are 3 beaches within walking distance Tonel is the one for surfing if you can do!! Mareta beach is the nicest of the 3. There are many more you can drive to. The fort is interesting. Been visiting Alvor for yrs. This trip was the third this year. Alvor not for the party animal. But some great nights to be had. Walking along boardwalk and other pathways a must. The people are delightful, always smiling. Plenty of taxis to be had. For people with mobility issues Alvor might prove a challenge due to streets being steep,uneven footpaths that are also narrow.
