- From £66.12 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,858 reviewsI say this from the bottom of my heart that I could not recommend another hotel more than Sur Grand Hotel! We had 2 flat tires an hour out of sur at midnight. Hotel had 24 hour reception, Hussein picked up within a few rings and was so reassuring, chartered a taxi back for us and arranged for everything the next day to help us fix our tires even though it was a weekend. Owner of hotel even came down to send his regard and make sure we were ok. Truly wonderful experience of Omani hospitality! Other than that, room was impeccable, had a free upgrade with balcony view, breakfast was sumptuousGuest review bySherilynSingapore
- From £136.15 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 250 reviewsSpend a night in the desert is an experience that you must to do in your life, amazing! A guide bring us from the office to the camp with a 4WD passing through the desert, we was greeted with dates and tea, the room was really fascinating. Before the dinner we sit near the fire with the locals that offered us camel milk and a tipical bread. The buffet dinner was really good. In the early morning, at the sunrise, we do the camel walk in the dunes to see the sun sunrising, it was an unique experience.Guest review byMarcoItaly
- From £237.44 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,400 reviewsGreat camp, very comfortable Ameer tent. But most of all amazing staff. They get most of their staff from India trained in hotel schools, and they are exceptionally polite, helpful and accommodating. Special mention to Ruben, Anjali and Rudra for their attentive gestures, especially as my wife is pregnant.Guest review byAyushBelgium

Sur was a nice surprise.
Sur was a nice surprise. We were planning on going to the sea turtles reserve in Ras Al Jinz, but it was not the season, so we ended up in Sur instead. Thea beach is very nice as well as the souq. We had nice breakfast at Sahari Restaurant and hiked up to the tower next to it to see the views over the town. We visited the light house and the dhow factory.Guest review byTarjaFinland - 6.0
I’m uncomfortable with the turtle viewing situation.
I’m uncomfortable with the turtle viewing situation. After booking I read reviews of Ras Al Jinz and we decided to avoid. Then we were told to walk onto the beach near our guest house, with the warning that we could be turned away as beach access at night is forbidden. We saw several people in cars near the beach, headlights on, clearly looking for turtles. We turned away. The following morning, after sunrise, we went up to the beach. A turtle had clearly been there, I just hope the uninvited visitors didn’t interrupt her. I fear Ras Al Hadd isn’t entirely coping with the increased number of tourists and I don’t think it’s really worth a visit, tourists also need to be made much more aware of the consequences of their actions.Guest review byPaulaSwitzerland - 10.0
Loved the sunset drive on the dunes.
Loved the sunset drive on the dunes. Dune bashing was fun and you can tell your driver what version of this you want - soft to fast ! Staff were friendly and accommodating. Make sure you book your seat at outdoor dining to avoid not getting a seat if the camp is full. Also book activities as soon as so you get your preferred time. Food was great - huge selection in the buffet and the musical entertainment was a great surprise !Guest review byAliceUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The desert is very beautiful here.
The desert is very beautiful here. Despite the multitude of camps, it is not a problem to have a perfectly quiet and serene evening or morning walk among the dunes. If possible, aim for a moonless night to enjoy the full splendor of the night sky.Guest review byMarkoBulgaria - 8.0

There's a nice museum in the old town which is worth visiting, plus a few restaurants and cafes with a souk (market), though mornings only. Good for transiting/spend half a day (spend the night at SAJ Inn Farms), not necessrily as a destination in itself.Guest review byLeonieGermany - 10.0
Excellent location.
Excellent location. But I would suggest that you allocate a separate place away from the hotel rooms for the scrap items as otherwise it invites snakes and scorpions to the rooms. Also recommend a Table Fan at the food lobby.Guest review byHariharanIndia - 8.0

Small fishing town, nice beach and sea was lovely, decent waves for surfing. Good location for turtles and the scientific center. Basic coffee/tea shops and supermarket. Best get provisions from Sur.Guest review byAbdul RahmanOman - 10.0
We had an excellent stay at the camp.
We had an excellent stay at the camp. It's a small and private camp, with a great view on the sand dunes. The tents are fully equipped and comfortable. All the people working at the camp were super friendly and helpful. They made sure everything was according to our expectations and beyond. We did a dune bashing activity, where we also watched the sunrise and took beautiful pictures. I also definitely recommend the camel ride to watch the sunrise! The dinner and breakfast was super delicious, and we enjoyed watching the stars around the campfire at night.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
It a quiet port town. It a beautiful little white town.
It a quiet port town. It a beautiful little white town. However, compared to the world's famous tourist destinations, it will be a little inferior. But if you travel in Oman, it would be a good candidate.Guest review byMASARUJapan
