- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.9Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 102 reviewsOutstanding friendly staff, they make you feel like home, and they make an incredible good pizza (we had the chicken plum - highly recommend) The place is really magical, you stay at the Fjord and can discover it kayaking, hiking or biking. If you're lucky you can see bioluminescent plankton glowing in the sea at night, beautiful stars and glow worms. You can watch the sunrise from the hot tup. It's a place to enjoy! You should stay there at least 2 days. The only thing we didn't like was that we didn't stay longer ;) If there would be an 11. Star, they would have earned it! ... And there is a chimney burning all day ... We had breakfast in front of it :)Guest review byNicolaiGermany
- From US$173.90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 120 reviewsThis is exquisitely beautiful accommodation with all the creature comforts. The claw bath and salts was an absolute highlight along with the outdoor balcony with views along the street - enjoyed all the more with the complimentary wine and cheese on arrival. The rooms and beds are gloriously spacious and comfortable. I also hadn't appreciated that breakfast was included in our booking so this was a lovely bonus. Julienne and her team bent over backwards to ensure we enjoyed a wonderful stay. And this really was a wonderful stay. Thank you sincerely!!!Guest review bySarahAustralia
- From US$79.58 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,881 reviewsThis hotel was a delightful surprise, extremely well located, great views, nice short walk into town for coffee or meals. Our ground-level room had a beautiful glass door opening onto a lawn that was unexpected. Nice bed & comfort level all around. Location well situated for turning in rental car & catching the ferry. Honestly, that was the only reason we stayed at this hotel and Picton, but wished we had booked more days. Very very pleasant! Feel this hotel is a cut above all the other choices in the area!Guest review byJoeyUnited States
- From US$60.13 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,240 reviewsOur unit was very spacious with a good layout and very clean. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Location was perfect, just a short stroll along the marina to reach the town centre. Parking in front of the unit was very convenient. 2 nights were not enough to make use of all the amenities in the holiday park (e.g. pizza oven, games room, swimming pool).Guest review byMelanieGermany

While many will only see Picton as a quick stopover between the North and South Islands it is really worth spending a little more time there. It is a lovely little town with great scenery, wonderful access to Queen Charlotte Sound and good food, shopping and friendly people.Guest review byRichardAustralia - 8.0

We did the Queen Charlotte s walk and staying in the lodge was such a treat for us. They offer pack lunch to rake away for the people doing the track which is really helpfull and there is an outdoor spa available.Guest review byGaelleNew Zealand - 10.0

I loved the remoteness of where we stayed, yet the sense of being safe and looked after by the locals. The views and natural environment are sublime. The only permitted way to get here is currently by boat as the road has been damaged by a storm and is only allowed to be used by residents' and service vehicles. This makes it very safe to walk up the road to tracks into the wonderlands the area has to offer. The walks vary from fairly easy to somewhat taxing. Some of the tracks have a challenging gradient if you are not used to walking, and would be more difficult if they are wet. Having said that, we are 'senior citizens' with average fitness and we managed to summit the Onahau lookout (416 meters / 1368 feet) above sea level) and return in one piece.Guest review byTomNew Zealand - 10.0

Stunning views down the harbour and plenty of eateries and accommodation options. We ate at Cortado twice as we could take our Labrador inside & they had a fab dog menu! A beautiful drive across to Anakiwa. We’ll definately stay longer next time.Guest review byPatriciaNew Zealand - 10.0

No one told us that we should have caught the Ferry to Punga Cove from Picton. We drove for hours only to find out that the road was closed for maintenance. Very annoying and we had to wait for hours to drive through a very short window of time to get through. Apparently Booking.com was told by the property, but the Booking.com did not tell us. Disappointing!Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

The peaceful environment and the time to relax in beautiful surroundings. Lovely environment to just chill out and away from stress. Take a tour with Phil through the sounds on his boat. Sports massage with Julie is awesome too.Guest review byKarenNew Zealand - 10.0

Picton is a lovely place to spend a few days.. or explore further. Irish pub up the road was good for a drink. Mostly did our own cooking but nice cafes around the corner for lunch. Handy bus stop across the road. Went to Blenheim for a day ( check the timetable.. doesn’t go every day) Walked to Waikawa Bay and back. Edwin Fox museum worth going to as was the Mail Run cruise. We stayed for 3 nights… arriving from Wellington by ferry… and leaving by bus for Christchurch.Guest review byDianeNew Zealand - 10.0
An unspoilt location to enjoy a break.
An unspoilt location to enjoy a break. The Marlborough Sounds are unique and it takes a little effort to get there, but well worth it to enjoy the tranquillity and all it offers. Lovely clear water to swim or other water sports. Excellent outdoor cafe for evening meal or you can self cater. Portage hotel is close by also had good food.Guest review byTrishNew Zealand
