- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,164 reviewsMy stay at Aoraki Mount Cook Alpine Lodge was exceptional. The lodge is conveniently located along a scenic road that offers stunning views of Mount Cook, making the drive to the accommodation a memorable experience. It is also ideally situated for those who enjoy trekking, with easy access to various trails. One of the highlights of my stay was the night sky, which was breathtakingly clear due to the lack of light pollution, allowing for excellent stargazing. The lodge itself was warm, the water supply was reliable, and all amenities were convenient and well-maintained. Overall, I had a very comfortable stay with no significant issues to mention. I highly recommend Aoraki Mount Cook Alpine Lodge for anyone looking to explore the area and enjoy a cozy, nature-filled retreat.Guest review byHedySouth Korea

I have been Late Tekapo 3 times, it is more expensive than it was. My recommendation is, stargazing is the only reason to make you stay in Lake Tekapo. Otherwise you could find a better and less expensive accomodation nearby.Guest review byAnonymousAustralia - 8.0

My husband and I have been coming to Twizel for several years now. My husband comes for the fishing and I for the photography. We have stayed in all seasons. This time it was July middle of winter. Didn't catch any fish but I got some great photos. Had a lovely meal out at Poppies. Would recommend them. We were disappointed with our accommodation, but it didn't ruin our stay in Twizel.Guest review byUdenNew Zealand - 10.0

Mount Cook Village is a great location if you are planning to do some walks in the area. We did the Hooker Valley Track, Sealy Tarn Track, and the Tasman Glacier View after which we were exhausted and travelling to another location would have been a bit much. Staying at the village was the best decision. At night you can travel slightly out to get the most exceptional views of stars and in the morning you wake up to unbelievably beautiful views of mountains. If you are lucky you might just get some snow.Guest review byWaldoNew Zealand - 8.0
The bakehouse pies are worth queueing for.
The bakehouse pies are worth queueing for. There are a couple of nice shops - not much else there although you could visit the nearby hamlets which looked to have some interesting features. We tried to walk along the river but the path was quite overgrown.Guest review bySuzyAustralia - 10.0

We lived in Omarama approximately 30 years ago. It was lovely to see the progress in the town. There is plenty of places to eat out and all of them offer a good range of food, with friendly efficient staff.Guest review byHeatherNew Zealand - 8.0

Awesome landscape views and friendly info center staff, but some tourist sites such asTasman Glacier and White of the toilets had signs "Closed during Winter", which was so inconvenient for tourists.Guest review byDebSouMacao - 8.0
Lovely comfortable older-style motel not far out of Tekapo.
Lovely comfortable older-style motel not far out of Tekapo. Has been refurbished and had everything we needed. Shower was great & beds were very comfortable. Surprisingly quiet despite being near main road. Host was friendly & welcoming. Maybe a little small for more than 2 or 3 people or for more than a couple of nights. Travellers need to bring all food etc as no shops in settlement.Guest review byMarcellaNew Zealand - 10.0
My wife and I really cannot rave about this retreat enough.
My wife and I really cannot rave about this retreat enough. The villas are exceptionally appointed and spacious. The environment is picturesque, tranquil and peaceful. The food provided in the villas and the meals cooked by the chef are truly delicious and guests individual tastes are catered for. The staff are very welcoming and friendly whilst ensuring that privacy is a key component of the experience. The villas could not be cleaner or more tastefully presented. We doubt anyone could be disappointed in their stay at this retreat.Guest review bytonyNew Zealand - 10.0
Lake Tekapo is a beautiful place to visit.
Lake Tekapo is a beautiful place to visit. The water is bright blue, and you can still see snowy mountains all around in October. The Church of the Good Shepherd is small but very famous and great for photos. At night, the stars are amazing because the sky is so clear. You can also enjoy walking around the small town and take in the breathtaking views from the top of Mt John. It’s a quiet and relaxing place — perfect for a short trip.Guest review bySamAustralia - 10.0
Cute, small town with the most amazing scenery.
Cute, small town with the most amazing scenery. The town itself is very small, but offers so much with scenic walks, activities & the locals are super friendly. We had dinner at the Razza Bar - a small, old school bar with the best atmosphere & great food. The owner was really friendly and told us all about the lord of the rings filming and where we could find the area where the fight scene was filmed which was very cool. Beautiful place & we can’t wait to come backGuest review byStaceyNew Zealand
