Pahia is a lovely area, well worth a few days or more depending on what you want to do, definitely do one of the Bay of Islands 1/2 day boat trips. A brilliant selection of restaurants in town. A beautiful place.Guest review byJoAustralia - 10.0

Kaitaia is exactly how you find it - unpretentious, with all the stores you need to make your stay comfortable. Do support all the local businesses - get your nails done, purchase some books, dine out, visit the Saturday market!Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

I have been to Russell a couple of times before but only as day visits so to be honest Ive only stayed in the little township itself but loved that. This time I stayed a night to attend a function. The motel was the icing on the cake because where you stay can make or break a stay anywhere. The view of the harbour below with boats anchored..you couldn't beat. I want to come back..and my friend and I intend to. It's handiness was great. Great afternoon of shopping..something for everyone & delightful 'The Grazing table' cafe for home cooked sweets with delicious coffee. Would have liked to spend more time in the fabulous looking book store..great looking coffee table books on display but I ran out of time. There is something for everyone here. Russell town can easily be walked around in a short time without stopping..but who wants to do that. It's a lovely, interesting quaint place with a lovely harbour looking over to Paihia where you go to connect to main highway..eventually. A day passenger ferry runs regularly from Paihia & to. There are other areas to visit over the hill and the car ferry over from Opua is very quick and efficient. And least but not forgotten..the fantastic Duke of Marlborough hotel and accomodation with its elegance gracing the shoreline is a highlight. I had a lovely evening supportng the Recuse Helicopters fundraising event..it was spent under gorgeous chandelier lighting with all the simple but lovely table settings. Surely a grand gentleman which began in 1827 as 'Johnny Johnsons Grog Shop' by an ex convict come good!Guest review byYvonneNew Zealand - 4.0
This was a memory trip, so it was the first time.
This was a memory trip, so it was the first time. SORRY, I had to mention the incident, but wiser to leave it. Now you wanted a report, I only mentioned it in case something was wrong and could happen to somebody else. It has gone no further. You have done well in the decorating, and perhaps we will come again CaroleGuest review bycaroleNew Zealand - 10.0

Access to main area within walking distance, area for kids to play, plenty of cabins, you had your own area, next time would get one with all facilities and preferably the first one on the right as you enter.Guest review byPaul - 10.0

Taipa has the lovely resort and beach, but there is not much else. However, Taipa is part of a gorgeous stretch of coastline including Cable Bay, Coopers beach and Mangonui. Within a few kilometers you have all the amenities you need, plus local attractions and shopping. There is the Famous Mangonui Fish shop over the water, a couple more lovely cafes, places to buy local art and craft, a walkway and pa, a picaresque harbour and opportunities to get out on the water. Go!Guest review bybethNew Zealand - 10.0

Mangonui is gorgeous - fabulous walkway, unique art & gift shops, great eating - Breakfast at Jesse's was huge & delicious. It is also handy to all the East Coast beaches - the north is always a favourite trip down memory lane for us.Guest review byShirleyNew Zealand - 10.0

There was no faults I've stayed there a couple of times with my mum when she was alive and she was very fussy she use to say it was a flash motel so that says everything about the motel. No photos taken it was a all day Kupa Haka competition from schools from Whangarei to Kaitaia competingGuest review bysue - 10.0
Great beach and good location to explore the far North area.
Great beach and good location to explore the far North area. We took a bus tour up to Cape Reinga which was a real highlight and explored nearby Cape Karikari in our car. We ate our dinners at Mangonui, a 5 minute drive from Coopers BeachGuest review byAndrew
