The Heerlyckheid is a beautiful boutique hotel in Bredevoort, near Winterswijk. The facilies and the ambience is amazing. As guest you can enjoy diner at the restaurant, however, we had other plans so no experience. De hotel is situated on the main square of the city, and on the square there is also a local brewery, De Borgman, with a large terrace whereas you can enjoy local beers with friends and family. We really enjoyed our stay, and the breakfast was good quality, fresh and a lot of options.

    We loved staying in this property, which had extensive grounds. They contacted us in advance and offered us a choice of rooms. The rooms are located in either the main building or in separate buildings. We had a lovely, historic room with a small sitting area. While there were other bedrooms in the building there was no noise transfer. breakfast was exceptional, with a large buffet, offering many choices in the beautiful main dining room. We appreciated being able to dine on site the previous evening.

    We visited the hotel for the first time and the experience was wonderful. Very kind staff, very nice lobby, rooms, dining room, everything. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, big, the curtains were blackout, bathroom also spacious and the room was clean. Breakfast was tasty, delicious and well prepared, a large variety of food, freshly squeezed oranges, everyone will love it! Hope to see you again, the place is very nice, the staff is really friendly and kind. I am recommending this hotel.

We booked a room with breakfast & dinner there wasn't much info about this half board arrangement such as if it was a three course meal & if it was a set menu. We didn't have to worry we were looked after by friendly staff and the food was amazing!!! You had a choice of the menu and it was a three course meal.

    Nice clean town, plenty of places to eat and drink. The bridge museum is small but interesting. There wasn't much else to do that appealed to us, but we walked to Oosterbeek to see the annual celebrations. I beleive there is a zoo and a few other things but we didn't look for them.

The Old Church in the center of the town is a must-visit. Its beautiful architecture and serene ambiance made for a worthwhile experience.     The property is very near the lake, so if you’re into fishing, Keet is your man - he has a wealth of knowledge about fishing in the area and is willing to freely share it with you. You are also within and easy bicycle ride to town so shopping is nearby. Ingrid has some lovely homemade jams for sale too - good on warm toast!!

    The young staff at the hotel were excellent. There was a large free hotel car park. The dinner was good with ample portions depending on choice of food. At the time Lunteren was suffering from extensive road works making navigation difficult.

    The historic centre was well worth visiting and taking time to explore the city. There are plenty of coffee houses to enjoy although in the evening, a number of establishments were closed through staffing shortages. There were sufficient to enable a different restaurant each night. I thought that the price was expensive but normal for the Netherlands. Not a cheap location.

    With many holiday parks in Beekbergen, the area felt quite developed, with few places where we could walk in the forest. Beekbergen is well placed for travelling further afield, with easy access to the A50 motorway. For a more rural and unspoilt location in Gelerderland, try the Achterhoek.
