It is a place that we had never visited before.

Make sure you find out which beaches are swimable before you...
Make sure you find out which beaches are swimable before you go, and if you go snorkling go with a guide. The currents can be strong - and some dangerous- so a guide will help avoid that and provide support. Public bathrooms have no toilet seats, sometimes there is no toilet paper, and sometimes the only way to flush is with water. The people are friendly and helpful and wonderful. Most do not speak English but you’ll make friends everywhere you go. The seafood is outrageously good. Eat as much seafood as you can. I didn’t go into town so I can’t speak to that.
