- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 2,026 reviewsA fantastic place to stay in South West Mauritius. This is the best holiday we have ever had and a lot of that is due to our wonderful stay here. Staff took very good care of us from the moment we arrived and there were lots more facilities and activities to do than expected! Room was large and comfortable with a great view and the sea nearby. It was easy and simple to plan outtings, the hotel had their own taxi service with fixed prices who would come and get you in minutes after staff put the request in for you. The main restaurant was very good, they did buffet meals for breakfast and dinner and I also enjoyed some meals from the food truck. Staying here felt like a truly luxurious experience and we can't thank the staff enough for all they did for us. It was also fairly quiet and not crowded when we were here which added to the calm and private feel. The stretch of beach at this location did seem nicer than in the neighbouring locations and we got perfect views of the sunset from the beach. It was also nice to stroll through the garden areas, lovely aesthetics throughout the resort.Guest review byMaryamUnited Kingdom
- From £160.93 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.5Good - What previous guests thought, 781 reviewsWe had the most amazing stay at Outrigger! The property is so well equipped for families - 3 different pools, a fun slide for the kids, and a beautiful and relaxing beachfront. We loved that we could choose from the main buffet style restaurant or the lovely Edgewater restaurant for dinner, and enjoy delicious lunch at Le Bleu. There was also a wine bar which looked nice, but we didn’t end up going there. The main pool has a lovely semi separate shallow section where our son could splash around safely by our feet, which we loved. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. We were lucky enough to get an upgrade to a villa, which was so unexpected and so special. Such a stunning space!Guest review byLillianSouth Africa
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 811 reviewsThis was an amazing experience from start to finish. Everything we needed, Heritage Le Telfair had: gym, heated pools, amazing beach, delicious breakfast, impeccable and comfortable rooms, free boat rentals & glass bottom boat excursion, plenty of restaurants, kids facilities, friendly staff… I can go on & on. So thankful we stayed here and grateful for our “host” Melvin, who checked in on us, gave us information, and booked restaurants. We hope to come back one day, as this was an amazing experience.Guest review byElizabethDenmark

We travelled with the baby and they brought us everything we asked for for the baby: potty, high chair and a separate bed. Golf courses were great.Guest review byTeeleEstonia

The town offers a more authentically local atmosphere than beach resorts, although admittedly there is no beach on this part of the Mauritian coast, so the area attracts a different kind of traveller. It is a rather run-down place but has considerable charm. The waterfront is a lovely (if windy) area to stroll around and the town has some interesting historical attractions - also a few kilometres away, in Vieux Grand Port, the site of the first landing on the island (by the Dutch, in 1598). One matter to be aware of concerns going out for dinner in the town. There are plenty of restaurants in the central area, many of them very welcoming and with very good food, however: - the streets are very poorly lit after dark, resulting in considerable stretches where a torch/phone light is useful; - most streets have no pavements, or very uneven/poor quality pavements where they do exist, so you have to walk in the road - watch your step and beware traffic that rushes past, often very suddenly (however, the local drivers are good at swerving to avoid pedestrians)! - unnervingly, there are large numbers of dogs roaming around on the streets - this seems to be the case all over Mauritius, even in the capital, albeit to a lesser extent. By day they are very placid and tend to shy away from people, but after dark they are often uncomfortably territorial and can be aggressive.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Nothing was lacking
Nothing was lacking The 2nd floor villa with a balcony view to the garden and sea was private with a superb vista it had a very well stocked kitchen with excellent cooking facilities. Every attention to detail had been given with pottery and art it was aesthetically pleasing. provisions were easy to get and at short distance to obtain. what wasn’t evident from its description was its peace and privacy which for us gave the restorative and restful holiday we required.Guest review byAnnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We stayed for a day at the Shandri Beachcomber (bought a day pass) and the snorkeling from their beach was fantastic . Absolute amazing location but I wouldn't stay overnight there. Way too exensive for a dated resort and we weren't impressed by the quality of food and drink (it is an all inclusive resort) but you can't beat the location.Guest review byMariaAustralia - 10.0

Excellent location in an area that boasts greenery and nature at its best. Tamassa Bel Ombre is located next to two golf courses, a natural reserve and barely minutes away from other landmarks in Mauritius (south). Roads are safe - so it's easy to drive around but if you are after a complete relaxing holiday, venturing out of Tamassa is purely an extra then. The resort is fully equipped and offers a great opportunity for swimming, snorkeling, para-kiting in a well protected and clean bay.Guest review bySaidMalta - 8.0

Mahébourg has a beautiful waterfront. I prefer the modern part of the city versus the downtown area which has narrower streets. Historical Mahébourg Museum is worth visiting. Don’t forget the delicious Biscuits Manioc!Guest review byFrancoiseUnited States - 10.0

I came in with some reservation due to the wind that was considered to be a problem by other visitors. Some others were ranking the West coast over the East Coast (we were on the East Coast) but after visiting the entire island, we were very happy about our choice.Guest review byAlbrUnited States - 10.0

No ATM to draw cash.. most shops only deal with cash. Blue bay has a bus stop that takes 15 minutes to get to Mahebourg from where you can take a bus to any part off the Island. I stayed here with my 3 kids, the kids club looked great although we didn't use it. We stayed for 3 nights and that was enough for us to break the city routine of our everyday life. Krishna from the concierge organised a fun day out to Chamarelle where we saw the 7 sand earth, giant turtles and the magnificent waterfall. We ended the day at Curious Corner which the kids (and I loved).Guest review byMonaUnited Arab Emirates
