We enjoyed every minute at Residence. the room was arranged as our request and very clean. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. My smaller daughter had a severe stomach and was crying on the way back to the room and before we even get back to home, the doctor is already there waiting to see us! The doctor gave her some medicine and she was all fine in an hour and already back to the water. Great food, different themes everyday. We are already planning to come back next year.

What a lovely little adults-only hotel! Comfy bed, attentive staff, spectacular lunch every day at the little van round the side of the restaurant. The pool is in a perfect sheltered spot because it was exceptionally windy (that's the East in May for you) and the beach was not an option. Although just a 10/15 minute walk further around the coast and Trou d'eau Douce beach was much more calm. There is an awesome little shop with some really good options for mementoes or gifts. Staff of course were just wonderful - even the guy we thought of as 'grumpy barman' until we got to know him lol. The spa is gorgeous - do yourself a favour and get a treatment there (just avoid nail treatments, it's not their strong suit). Scrub and massages were to die for.

    The whole place is charming, very different to anything we had experienced before. The tents are huge and beds are comfortable but would have benefited from mattress protectors, The private bathroom beneath the tent is well thought out and equipped. A powerful fan is provided to keep the tent cool at night and the tent has sockets for charging phones etc. as well as lighting. We had the distinct feeling of being completely embedded in nature in a very relaxed setting. The traditional creole meals provided both at lunchtime and dinner are delicious, beautifully prepared and cooked. The bar is well stocked with soft drinks and beers, wine, spirits and local rum. The complimentary boat trip to the île aux cerfs and the provision of canoes for a trip up the river to the waterfalls were a lovely addition to our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

    Beautiful and well-kept structure, a tropical garden overlooking one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Spacious and clean rooms, excellent and always varied catering. All-inclusive service that really includes everything. We felt welcomed at home by all the staff, who always made every effort to make all our wishes come true. A special thanks goes to Mr Fawaaz who took care of our stay flawlessly with great professionalism and availability. Another thanks to all the reception staff and in particular to Karene and Taarish: we will never forget your looks and your smiles. Finally, a huge thanks to Sam, who cheered our evenings not only with his drinks but also with his words; a really good and kind person. We look forward to returning to you soon, we already miss you!     Tree Lodge provides a special experience - it is located in a very nice garden with a lot of flowers next to a swimming pool. Owners have been very kind and immediately responded to every wish we had. Breakfast was really delicious - fresh fruit, fruit juice, eggs or omelets, toast with butter and jam, etc. Really high quality. Lodge is located close to Belle mare, one of the nicest beaches in Mauritius. Ben (owner) is also an instructor in a Dive center (Dive passion) on Belle mare and it was a great experience to go with him for diving.

    we had the best holiday ever! Hotel is beautiful, picture perfect location, beach, pool area. stuff is extraordinary, always smiling and very helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean, minibar filled daily, including fresh water. Our cleaning lady Nirmala left always flowers on the bed, we found a nice touch. Restaurants are great, amazing quality and variety of foods and drinks. Especially 5* dessert varieties every dinner time in the Indigo! Definitely will go back on day!

    La Koquillishe is located between two excellent restaurants : La Case a Poisson and Tino's which have incredible food for reasonable prices. Not to be missed. Also, La Koquillishe has a taxi service which is extremely efficient and correctly priced. Ask for Patrick.

    Our stay at the Bubble Lodge Resort for 2 nights (Lake & sea view Bubble). Mukesh and Nevin where my favourite staff and made our stay extra special to us - we felt very much welcomed: they are outstanding naturally nice. Great employees, great service! We will love to come back some other time :)

    Grand Sable is more of a location you drive through rather than a place to stay. It’s a nice place to see and stop to take pictures as you drive through but not really a place to stay for any length of time except maybe one night. The name sounds like there should a beach here but there is not.

    No restaurants within walking distance. therefore have to bring all your food to villa. Public transport infrequent and no designated timetable for buses, own transport or expensive taxis required. Location was quiet and relaxing.

    A bit beaten town, lots of drunks and abandoned houses. There are some nice restaurants around (Chez Tino, Green Island Beach Restaurant) and places to visit (Île aux Cerfs, GRSE waterfall), but overall not to stay for too long.

    My wife and I were stopping over in Mauritius on route to...

    My wife and I were stopping over in Mauritius on route to Perth, Australia. We booked for three nights but could only stay for one night as Air Mauritius rescheduled our connecting flight for two days earlier, so we only had the one night. We only managed to do a short drive around the following morning and the local area was very quite with only a couple of large resorts nearby and one small supermarket. We did not get to visit the nearby large market in Central Flacq. The drive from the airport was aproximately 1 hour 15 minutes. We then had to drive back the following evening to the airport. Night driving in Mauritius was difficult and slow going so for a one night stay it is not worth it. This part of the island (East) is also very windy, although we found it a warm wind so it was not to bad, even by the pool. The complex is good for a quiet few days or week, but not suitable for those who like a lot going on nearby.

    Belle Mare is a quieter resort as most of the coastline are hotels and a golf course without much else. So if you are looking for a resort with facilities ie shops / bars & restaurants outside of your hotel there isn't much within walking distance there is hardly anything. If you have a car Flacq is a 15 min drive away with the Market and Supermarket. The beach is quiet and beautiful.
