- From £74.33 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.5Good - What previous guests thought, 23 reviewsAmazing place! We even got a room upgrade: we booked the cottage and we were offered to go to Hemingways suite which was absolutely fantastic, with a private pool on the rooftop. The pools, both the private and the shared ones, were clean and nice. The staff is very kind and always available: they can recommend good and convenient options for visiting the marine national park. The lodge is on a beach with mangroves: don't expect to chill on the white sand of Diani, it's completely a different environment, with mangrove ecosystems and lot of conservation efforts. The food was also good. We ate abundantly at dinner and breakfast, and the staff was available to satisfy our requests and exigencies. The restaurant on the terrace, with sofa, and lot of books, makes it a perfect place to chill and relax. You can reach the KWS office (to take the boat for the marine park with a 15-minutes walk through Shimoni Village, which is small but super characteristic. We highly suggest to visit it for a very local experience. The Shimoni Slaves Caves are less than 10 minutes walking. Strongly recommended and thanks a lot for such nice hospitality.Guest review byValeItaly
- From £55.28 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 208 reviewsIt's a corner of style and elegance right on the ocean and in the middle of nowhere, nature and peace - but in 10 minutes by foot you reach the centre of msambweni. every corner is decorated with african artifacts, every host can find his private angolino direct on the sea or at the side of the pool, or in the shadow on sofas choosing between books at our disposal, or games to play in group or lying on hammocks under palm trees at 2 steps from the ocean. Breakfast is very good and plentyful and in the menù you can choose even vegetarian - excellent food, dry white wine, cocktails; you can even ask particular dishes in advance. Miss Stacey, the manager, sweet and kind and easy and friendly at same time, like the staff, precise and careful but never "pressing". When there is low tyde you can swim in the swimming pool kept perfect clean more times in a day. For me 100 per cent positive experience!Guest review byPaola PatriziaTanzania
- From £66.56 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.6Good - What previous guests thought, 174 reviewsThe hotel is ideal for a relaxation. Be ready to entertain yourself if you need. We played beach tennis, walked to the sand island, asked to show us the path to the African Pool, which is a must to visit and swim there. Otherwise, there a few people, cafe, ocean and sunrise in front. A, and a gang of Monkeys. The territory is quite big and green. Baobabs and some rare plants are signed to know. The food is tasty. You can buy octopus or fish from the fishermen and chef will cook it up to your taste. For a small fee. Better to visit supermarket before, as there is not any around.Guest review byDmitriyRussia
- From £328.37 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 12 reviewsThe rooms were renovated and upgraded, the food was amazing, now daily seafood at lunch time was added and sushi in the evenings. That is what we need at the beach. They have received the travel life certificate and use glass bottles in the rooms and don't replace towels if not needed. The staff as usual very welcoming and friendly.Guest review byYvonneUganda

Its a nice place with a beautiful beach with clear blue water. Water in the apartments are however salty, I assume its because of the beach surrounding the area. Food and activities are expensive around this area.Guest review byAyomideNigeria - 10.0
Perfect.
Perfect. I wrote a previous outstanding review but Booking.com only posted my two comments from “suggested improvements”, which were inconsequential but gave a negative impression. The property was lovely, steps from an amazing white sandy beach fringed with coconut palms. I loved lolling on the comfy cushions on the roof terrace in the evenings. Cecilia who looked after us was amazing and a great cook. Her fish curries were to die for. The bed was comfy and the mosquito nets a great asset. The community pool was well maintained with a fabulous on site masseuse, Habiba. Amazing relaxing vacation would highly recommend.Guest review byGeraldineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The island was great. People very friendly.
The island was great. People very friendly. The only negative part was when I went for a walk on the island, one woman asked me what I was doing there. When I replied just looking, she told me to look cost money and I should come to the office to pay, which was total BS!Guest review byFimaUnited States - 10.0

Ukunda is a great place to visit with family and also friends. The best place to watch the sunset on Kongo river and the beach is clean with white sand. We very much enjoyed each morning watching the monkeys jump around in the trees surrounding us Also amazing food at the estuary with very good price and friendly customer service. Overall : A beautiful 👌🏾 , friendly and peaceful place to be.Guest review byJoyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Mostly private resorts however not far from Diani and accessible from Mombasa. The Likoni Ferry (which is the only way from Mombasa Island to the south) can take some time to cross- we took almost three hours when we first arrived.Guest review byJoashIndia - 10.0

Ukunda itself is full of different kind of problems, but if we specifically talk about Diani, situation is different. Seaview access hotels are in general above average except, Flamboyant, Safari Beach and Seabreeze of which have many issues. Pricing 80$ to 500$ US. Then in Galu beach lies horrible trap places like this ghastly Coconut Village with incompetent teenagers left as managers. The second strip hotels are passable with pricing 35$ to 120$, but usually lack service ability and professional staff. The beach is very beautiful, but people around hotels hustling bring the experience down even bad.Guest review byMPENZIFinland - 8.0

You will need a mosquito repellet especially in the evenings. Fortunately, there was one in the house we could use when we first got there before we could purchase one! Thanks to the host! You need to pre-arrage your movement from Tiwi to wherever you want to go as there is no public transport nearby. The host however had contacts for a reliable driver that was very helpful!Guest review byTulifu PlaceKenya
