- From £147.08 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,161 reviewsLocation is perfect, right where Tanujikoji Shopping Street and underground mall are located. Also near Mall, Odori Park and Sapporo TV tower. You can walk to anywhere from this location. Airport bus terminal is less than a 5-minute walk away, across Hotel Abest. Take note though that this is the 4th or 5th airport bus stop, lots of vacant seats but will have many stops before heading to the airport. If you are pressed for time, go to airport bus stop that goes direct to the airport - either in Odori or Susukino. There's free coffee, ramen and ice pops. Public bath was also interesting, but we were not able to try. Massage chair in the lounge was so good. Use of washing machine is free, while dryer is 100Y per 30 min cycle. A day's laundry for a family of 4 took 4 cycles (2 hours) to dry.Guest review byZarah KatrinaPhilippines
- From £119.43 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,338 reviewsThe location is good. It is about an 8-minute walk from Higashimuroran Station. You need to pay attention to prevent slipping on snowy days. The room is clean and tidy, and the service is thoughtful. When the front desk knew that we wanted to see the sunrise, he pointed out the unreasonable part of our itinerary and kindly told us where to go to watch it. Although it was relatively remote, we saw an amazing scenery. onsen is good, breakfast very nice. Most interesting places like Furano, Daisetsuzan and noboribetsu are not close to Sapporo even with self-drive trips. So don’t base your self in Sapporo as it is far from its own airport anyway. Stay in Sapporo if you want to explore its surrounding areas.Guest review byChangAustralia - 8.0

Hakodate per se is a quaint lite town, whose main attractions can be visited in one day. However, it can serve as a hub for exploring southern Hokkaido as it has all the necessary services. Food is certaiy a plus, particularly seafood, and prices are lower than elsewhere. Also, compared to larger towns on Honshu, it has a frontier-type of vibe.Guest review byArielSlovenia - 10.0

We loved Asahikawa, a very fun little city with a huge variety of bars and restaurants, easy access to local ski resorts, lots to see and do, and just a really fun, friendly vibe. Was a nice change after the hectic pace of Niseko. We will return next year and give ourselves a bit more time to have a really good look around (could do with 7 nights - our stay was 4 nights). Enjoyed the bonus of the winter festival being on during our stay, with spectacular ice sculptures the whole length of the main street, plus a big festival zone with activities, a huge ice stage, and dozens of food vans. We will be back for sure.Guest review byNicholasAustralia - 10.0

We did glass blowing at a great place called Il Ponte - made a glass each to take home! Also spent an afternoon Kayaking nearby at Shioya beach with Max at Sunnyside Up -well worth doing with amazing scenery and even a swim at a beach! Also found a great little place for dinner that locals go to called Summi's Grill in a little back alley near the Sun arcade. Met a couple of locals who go there every day!Guest review byPhilipAustralia - 10.0
We've been twice to Furano.
We've been twice to Furano. It's a wonderfully friendly and relaxed resort. While it's not large by European or American standards, it features fabulously dry powder snow, and great restaurant options at the foot of the slopes and in the adjacent town. The fact that it is small also makes it easy to meet up with friends.Guest review byStephenAustralia - 10.0

Kushiro is a compact city.
Kushiro is a compact city. When I was there in February 2024 the city was fairly quiet. Kushiro is a good place to stay if you are interested in seeing the Red crowned-cranes (Tancho). The Akan International Crane Center is just over an hour away by public bus. It's also possible to travel to the wetlands and the many lakes in the area. The Kushiro City Museum is very good with displays of the natural history, geology and Tancho. There are also wonderful sunsets that can be seen in various parts of the city.Guest review byNeilThailand - 10.0
Very beautiful and quaint little town.
Very beautiful and quaint little town. Loved the hot foot and hand spas for the public. Views of the lake were amazing and the onsen with the cost of our room was worth it. Better to stay since it is much more beautiful than at Rusutsu Resort area and not that far to go snowboarding.Guest review byKenUnited States - 8.0

Less touristy than other places in Japan, but a good base for visiting places like Furano, Hakodate, Noboribetsu. We went there during the summer festival which was great, and the shopping centre at the main station is very good.Guest review byDanielUnited Kingdom
