FAQs about hotels in South Tyrol
Tyrolese Magic among the Italian Alps
Part of the Alpine regions of northern Italy, this small province mixes great ski slopes, rich traditions from Austrian, Italian and Ladin cultures, stunning landscapes, and great food and wines. Seasons make no difference here, as the enchantment of South Tyrol has always something magic to offer.
With strong cultural and historical bonds with the Austrian Tyrol, this tiny region has a population with a German-speaking majority. The charming towns spread through its undulating geography mix the Tyrolese and Italian influence.
In the picturesque capital Bolzano, the Walther Square with the Cathedral of The Assumption of Our Lady and the trendy shops along Via dei Portici are a must to visit. Known also as Bozen, it is famous for the Christmas Market, where most of the hotels in South Tyrol get sold out quickly.
Merano is the 2nd city in the region and is famous for its spa facilities. And of course, also some the best luxury hotels in South Tyrol are located here. When you talk about Südtirol, it is also important to mention skiing in the Dolomites, Val Badia or Val Gardena: white beauties that you won’t be able to resist.

- From £732.76 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 143 reviewsThere are some places that exceed the hype and this is one of them! A truly amazing experience in a tranquil pine forest retreat with outstanding heated pool and enhanced by the amazing food and hospitality. Things that surprise me in a very positive way: - the food was outstanding! Besides the gourmet style daily dinner the lunch was surprisingly also amazing. In some occasions I even enjoyed more the lunch to the dinner as the food was more authentic in a more laid down vibe. The grill lunch was one of those days! Just perfection! Klaus knows what he is doing (just a pity he cannot speak English! Maybe another member of the staff should join him). - Wine and cocktails. I must say all the complementary coktails were very impressive both in authenticity and in flavour! The wine list is also high standards. - the pool. Not only it is beautiful and pristine clean but the water is at perfect warm temperature and the size big enough for real proper swimming! Impressive! - tranquility of the grounds mainly in the sauna areas. - top notch quality of the complimentary electric bikes. - staff polite and pro active. I would like to highlight the professionalism of Lorenza, Alexandre and Christian.Guest review byNunoPortugal
- From £249.98 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,077 reviewsWe fell in love with Lago di Braies and with this incredible hotel- we already speak of returning. The hotel and its unique history is absolutely stunning, and we like that they preserved as much originality as possible. It is a charming, and magical place. The staff go out of their way for their guests- much appreciated. The standard of this hotel is very high. One of the best breakfast buffets of all our travels. We also chose to have dinner there for 3 nights in a row- the food is excellent. Our room faced the lake with a perfect view overlooking the mountains and beauty of it all. We enjoyed sitting on our balcony. We paid extra for our laundry to be done and were happy- everything in the hotel from the bedsheets to all linens etc were clean and crisp. Meticulously unkept property. Gorgeous patio to sit on overlooking the lake, with very nice designer outdoor furniture. We also enjoyed the hotels cozy bar in the evenings- the bartender makes excellent drinks and was so kind to our young child. It’s the best starting point for the main hikes in the area. 10/10 hotel.Guest review byCarolineCanada

The city is incredibly charming, with a vibe that feels much more Austrian than Italian. It’s also surrounded by plenty of beautiful hikes (which I wish I’d had time to do!). I only stayed for two days, and while one day is enough to see the city itself, the real highlight is exploring the trails and nature nearby. The food is distinctly Austrian, hearty and delicious, and the bakeries are absolutely fantastic.Guest review byLuiza - 10.0
There is a lot to do in Merano, rain or shine.
There is a lot to do in Merano, rain or shine. Of course, there are the local & famous walkways, the mountain hikes, bike trails, and the Dolomites are nearby. On rainy days, there are castles, the Terme spa/pools. Overall, it's a very nice town with a lot to do.Guest review byLisaUnited States - 10.0

This is a relatively small town and so easily walkable with lots of really nice local bakers, and shops selling cheese, wine, speck and chocolate - plus the usual supermarkets, pharmacies and places where you can get all your hiking and walking gear. Try strolling along all the narrow streets that lead off the main square to see what's there. A really pleasant and slightly longer walk to take is by following the path along the river to the nearby Neustift/Novacella Abbey where you can try the excellent wine they make there (the local grape varieties are Kerner and Sylvaner) and cheese.Guest review byRuthUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The town is the perfect location to explore the Dolomites.
The town is the perfect location to explore the Dolomites. Hotels and Apartments are plentiful and in every price level. You can choose from so many hikes (all different levels) you can fill 3 weeks. Depending what other locations are on your itinerary, 3 days allow you to see the highlights and get a sense of the beauty of the Dolomites. Yet, it's easy to fill a week. Summer like winter.Guest review byMichaelGermany - 10.0
Nice and clean apartment.
Nice and clean apartment. Even we only had contact with the host via the chat, the host was very helpful though. The location of apartment was perfect. It's located in the city center. We love the view outside the living room. Parking was 15 euro per night, it's very nearby apartment. We had a lovely stay at Casa Fellin.Guest review bySumalaiNetherlands - 10.0

Because of the two gondolas accessible in town, we were able to explore both sides and experience a variety of terrain, none extremely challenging which worked for our various fitness levels. The views are stupendous and the convenience of the huts along the trails for lunch, a drink or even a break from the rain were fantastic. We didn't need to worry about packing snacks or lunches, and instead enjoyed reasonably priced, delicious meals along our hikes.Guest review byCarmenUnited States - 10.0
We really enjoyed our stay in this holiday house!
We really enjoyed our stay in this holiday house! Great location – very close to the cable cars that take you to Seceda and Monte Pana in the beautiful Dolomites. The area is peaceful and scenic, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The hosts were very kind, welcomed us with gifts, and gave us great tips on what to see and do nearby. The house had everything we needed: brand-new beds, super comfortable mattresses, and the host kindly provided lower pillows upon request. Everything was very clean and well maintained. We stayed on the ground floor – although the weather was rainy, it was always warm inside thanks to the heating. A perfect place for both active holidays and peaceful rest – highly recommended!Guest review byAntanasLithuania - 10.0
Kronplatz is everyone's favorite skiing destination.
Kronplatz is everyone's favorite skiing destination. Many slopes of varying difficulty. Something for everyone. All are very well groomed every single night. Lifts are refreshed / replaced by newer at extreme rates. Parking at the bottom station of the gondola is the best that you will ever experience and the price is quite affordable.Guest review byJurajCroatia - 10.0

Dobbiaco is a really beautiful town. There is a train station for trips to other nearby towns or into Austria. The bus service is excellent. You can go for hikes up the Dolomites and reach the famous three peaks. So much to do. The drinking water is amazing.Guest review byMonica - 10.0

Area is fabulous. Hotel trying to charge for pool/spa . They put us in one of their old rooms. Which was not worth the fee. I don’t know why they did that we were one of the few guests that had booked in all week .I thought that was pretty poor of them . The hotel did not inform booking.com there was a fee for using the pool. Pretty mean all round . They knew we not happy and they simply did not care. UnacceptableGuest review byAngelaUnited Kingdom
