FAQs about hotels in Sicily
An Island of Intrigue
The largest Italian island, Sicily has long been a place of mystery and intrigue, coveted by civilisations. Its Greek history is most evident at Agrigento whose UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valley of the Temples has amazingly well-preserved Greek temples.
Also important to Greece was Siracusa. Archimedes was born here and there is a theatre and necropolis to explore. However, the most spectacularly located Greek theatre is at Taormina. Set on a hill overlooking the glorious Mediterranean Sea, this theatre points towards Mount Etna smoking away in the distance above Catania. Picturesque Taormina is one of the most popular Sicily resorts and down below there are some wonderful Giardini Naxos hotels on the beach, available on Booking.com.
Another resort boasting some of the best Sicily hotels for families is fabulous Cefalù. Home to a lovely beach, this small town is dramatically located at the foot of a mountain. To the north-west are the Aeolian Islands (also known as the Lipari Islands), volcanic islands with plunging cliffs and secret coves.
Back on the main island, the capital Palermo is a seductive mix of amazing architecture and laidback life. Trapani to the west is known for its salt flats, whereas Messina to the east is where trains drive straight onto the ferry to Reggio Calabria on the Italian mainland.

- From £296.39 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 2,084 reviewsWe were sorry we could not stay longer, since the hotel is really nice, with its secluded sea front, and beautiful views to the Tyrrhenian Sea. The room was comfortable, a little terrace also with views to the sea. The dining terrace is a great space, and dinner and breakfast were excellent. The staff was always really nice. Once we checked out, we could stay longer at the terrace by the sea, and later used their changing room, available on demand, before leaving. The beautiful city of Cefalu is close by, easy to reach by car or on foot.Guest review byFelicianoSpain
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 111 reviewsThis is my second time at this resort. It is so peaceful, surrounded by trees. Beach is amazingly beautiful. Pools- you are spoilt for choice. The animation team is great!!!We had a soft spot for Tommaso, he was so humble and kind and funny ...but truly all of them were great 😁 The staff at the pool bar were always gentle and professional too. Perfect place if you want to relax, especially with kids. Kids clubs are amazing, however kids need to know Italian, as most of the team are Italian speaking only.Guest review byPRISCILLAMalta

Great number of historical sites of various eras, many nice parks and horticultural places, street traffic is classical Sicily style (😄), however famous street food district is not to my taste (too messy, dirty, dubious freshness..)Guest review byAlbinaSlovenia - 10.0

Loved the city, especially nice staying somewhere away from the tourist centre, but still close enough to walk to places.( 5min walk to Via etna) Especially enjoyed the Catania football match vs Monopoli. Great crowd, family atmosphere. Went to ground to get tickets before the match as couldn’t work out how to get them any other way.well worth the effortGuest review byAnnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Siracusa is a great location to visit in Sicily and should not be missed! I was amazed by the endless charming streets, beautiful sea views, and great architecture. It's a fantastic place to visit with beautiful landscapes.Guest review byAgaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Taormina is an absolutely stunning place.
Taormina is an absolutely stunning place. There are many areas to explore , the buildings are beautiful almost like a movie set. It is clean and safe. There are many places to eat and drink off of the main street Corso Umberto that are less touristic and better value for money. Rosticceria Da Cristina for arancini. La Nepolitana for pizza will not disappoint. Bambar for granita prepare to queue. We tested many Cannoli La Pignolata Guinness Cannoli was our favourite.Guest review byMaggieUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Cefalu has a pretty old town with narrow winding streets and lovely public beaches. When I was there it was extremely crowded. Too much for my liking but probably good fun for young people. I still enjoyed wandering through the streets. The Cathedral is truly awe-inspiring, in size and beauty. Definitely worth a proper visit. Also the famous rock. The views from the top are amazing and their are some fascinating ancient ruins along the way.Guest review byVictoriaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

I love both beaches and lively city centers at the same time and Trapani can offer that. A perfect cable car trip directly from Trapani to historic Erice. A beautiful sunset and a view of the illuminated Trapani. Interesting places in the vicinity: Segesta and Selinunte archeological parks, the very unusual Nuova Gibellina (plus Cretto di Buri) and bustling Palermo with majestic monuments. There are plenty of great restaurants in Trapani. I can't miss the Meno Tredici gelateria in the harbor and the great arancini at Al Pollero da Roberto.Guest review byMiroslavCzech Republic - 8.0

Indications for people who driving there are poor, I was lost, I pass in front the entrance without realizing it, poor indicators. I stop and I find another car lost too. The car parking too expensive, the entrance tickets expensive, I went really early before there were too many people, I was able to take selfies for the more important monuments without any wait line. You must be ready with plenty of water, if you are going in summer time because its a really long walk under very strong summer lights. I guess you must see it at least once on your life, like everything relevant from our pass times. Obviously I am a simply tourist without knowledge about architecture. For those that understand I am sure must be fascinating.Guest review byencarniUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Beautiful town, full of life at night.
Beautiful town, full of life at night. Easily walkable, flat streets. Beach is nice and long, with multiple free areas. It's a gorgeous scene with the huge mountains, and lighthouse at the other end. It is definitely more of a touristy feel, as we went in August. Definitely explore up and down the peninsula, as there's excellent beaches and coves to swim at as well!Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
Giardini-Naxos and the surrounding towns are, however,...
Giardini-Naxos and the surrounding towns are, however, unusually dirty, with a lot of litter scattered along the streets. The beach, on the other hand, has wonderfully clean and clear water. People are helpful. Traveling around, take time. The only rush is in traffic. If you travel by rental car, it helps to have a good map reader in the passenger seat and a calm mind. Honking is simply a part of the traffic culture. A motorcyclist may pass you on either the right or the left. Focus on the traffic is the most important thing. When choosing a rental car, you should go for one with medium power. Otherwise, it may not make it up the hills. We had a Toyota Yaris 1500 Petrol Hybrid Automatic. It was ok. An automatic gearbox makes driving easier.Guest review byMarikaEstonia - 10.0

You can rent bikes, electric ones if it's too hot. They are available at several locations. The prices are reasonable and you can travel the entire island. The water is clean and it is worth stopping here for a day.Guest review byVesnaSlovenia
