FAQs about hotels in Sardinia
Jewel of the Mediterranean
This fabulous Italian island is an exclusive holiday destination, so of all the Sardinia hotels 5 star properties make up a good proportion. Several are on the wonderful Emerald Coast, known for its stunning scenery. Because of the fantastic beaches and coves, this area (Costa Smeralda in Italian) houses some of the best Sardinia hotels for families.
Amazing Emerald Coast resorts include Porto Rotondo, Porto Cervo with its exclusive harbour, and Baia Sardinia. Palau overlooks the La Maddalena archipelago, a national park comprising peaceful islands. There are also several Sardinia hotels on the beach in Pula, a resort popular with locals.
Sardinia also has lots of history to explore. Close to Pula is Nora, where there are remains of a Roman town. Other Roman ruins are found in a dramatic setting at Tharros, near Oristano.
However, it’s the nuraghe - prehistoric megaliths - that are typically Sardinian. Found all over the island, these stone structures are incredibly well preserved. The most famous is Su Nuraxi in Barumini and there are several near Alghero, a walled city with narrow streets and a sandy beach. The prehistoric settlement at Tiscali in the Gennargentu mountains is most easily accessed from Dorgali.
Booking.com also has hotels in Cagliari, the island’s capital. Bastione San Remy offers panoramic city views towards fabulous Poetto beach beyond.

- From US$547.44 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 196 reviewsThe hotel is extremely nice and perfectly maintained. The room I stayed in was impressively clean, comfortable and had a stunning view. The swimming pool is pleasantly warm and big enough for recreational swimming, always clean. The hotel stuff is extraordinary kind and helpful. The beach is nice (somewhat distant from hotel) but entering the sea needs some carefulness because of the layer of sharp stones. The whole place is extremely silent and offers the great experience of watching miracle sunsets. It is definitely worth staying although not more than a few days.Guest review byDorianSerbia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 949 reviewsThis hotel is 10/10 in the area. Located in a beautiful quiet bay, with perfect white sand. The beach is private, where the drinks are served upon request. The territory of the hotel is very well maintained and cleaned daily. The breakfast is delicious and served in gorgeous dishes. The rooms look like they have been just renovated, new and super clean (I’m especially picky on that part). The team is kind and very welcome, the service overall is great. Overall, I cant recommend this hotel enough. We would definitely come back if in that area again.Guest review byAlinaNetherlands
- From US$183.89 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.3Good - What previous guests thought, 749 reviewsHad an amazing time in this resort! Their shuttle bus picked us up at Cagliari airport, it's a 1,5 hour drive and 50 euro per person but totally worth it compared to the public bus option, which takes about 5-6 hours according to Google. Gotta book a week in advance though. At the resort we got a free upgrade to a better room not far from the beach, which was a very pleasant surprise. Everything was very nice - the room, the food, the beaches, the staff was very helpful. Absolutely loved this place!Guest review byIvanArmenia

Alghero old town was lovely but busy in the evening.
Alghero old town was lovely but busy in the evening. Would recommend making reservations if you wish to eat at a particular restaurant. Alghero beach was ok there are some fantastic beaches not too far away so a hire car is a must to explore further afield. Parking in Alghero can be a problem, there is limited free on street parking. There is a free car park close to the Lidl supermarket, and also at the port.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

You can see everything there is to see in two days - just by gently walking around. I recommend the cathedral (and crypt) and St. Remy (for the view). If you have the time, take a trip on one of the small boats that do a tour of the nearby coves, stopping for swim along the way. If you're on a budget, a pizza is your best option and whereas some restaurants near the harbour can be a little pricey, there are plenty more reasonably priced on Corso Emanuele II.Guest review byMatthewBelgium - 10.0

Its a great place to stay to discover the area (east side of the island), its right in the middle to visit La Magdalena and Oroseo Gulf. There is plenty of restaurants and things to do/visit. The beaches around the city were great as well (pitulongu, port istana). There are not a lot of parking places around so you might need to drive for a while and "fight" for a spot.Guest review byLucasSpain - 10.0

San Teodoro is a beautiful commune and has a very vibrant town centre which gets alive in the evening and goes on till late in the night. It had fantastic restaurants to choose from if you are a seafood lover. Dont miss Pescharia Saporia de Mare for seafood if you want to visit the locals’ go to place for seafood. The commune is also dotted with some of the best beaches of Sardinia like La Cinta, Cala Impostu and Cala Brindinchi among others. However, for the latter two you will need to book in advance, a way to keep the crowd at bay. Overall San Teodoro is a must visit if visiting Sardegna.Guest review byRajNjoYUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We have stayed in other very nice resorts and hotels with robust amenities throughout Sardinia and this was easily our favorite one. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to assist us. In addition to the hotel, we loved touring around Capo Testa and spent a lot of time in Santa Teresa which is a very charming town near the hotel. Next time we will spend more time at the beaches since an injury prevented us from navigating the rocky beach.Guest review byDavidUnited States - 6.0

Friendly locals and beautiful long beaches, great even for kids — plenty of space despite rows of sunbeds. Poor beachside services: toilets and showers open only from the second week of June. This year, unfortunately, tons of seagrass have washed up, which might cause issues for sensitive individuals.Guest review byDavidCzech Republic - 10.0
The best place in Sardinia.
The best place in Sardinia. Cute Italian town with picturesque houses, great restaurants and the best gelato. We loved going from beach to beach, they all possess different qualities, but they are all lovely with the bluest water I’ve seen. You definitely need a car or a Vespa to get the best experience. Taking a boat trip for a day is also a must! Would strongly recommend spending a few days in La Maddalena!Guest review byTameshaNorway - 10.0

Castelsardo itself is an interesting small city with its castle and round streets. Hikers and people doing "steps" should love hundreds of steers and narrow uphill streets, especially in the rather well preserved tower area. And, it hides so good seafood restaurants with spectacular views. I thought I had it all already, yet we were seriously surprised of the food and service quality. Sure, tripadvisor points tell the story. Yet in some cities you could find pizza kiosks also with ratings like 4.8, so watch out. Trekking and hiking roads are also near by. Beware of review dates. Some are full of bushes, still not cleaned, so it took us 3 tryouts to find a decent track. Most of these tracks are unmarked. Would be hard to find these if you have experienced German way of marking tracks.Guest review byMikk OrglaanEstonia - 10.0

Absolutely loved Orosei- such a beautiful town with plenty of bars and restaurants. Lots of locals around so didn’t feel overly touristy. Within half an hour of loads of stunning beaches but Orosei beach itself is pretty good anyway. Great base for exploring the local area. We would highly recommend Pizzeria Orion for amazing pizzas!Guest review byKateUnited Kingdom
