FAQs about hotels in Amalfi Coast
A Feast For the Eyes
Comprised of brightly coloured villages cascading down sheer cliffs, the Amalfi Coast is on the opposite side of a peninsula from Sorrento. Between the UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages are lemon groves and winding roads hugging the coastline that are definitely not for the nervous driver!
In wonderful Positano, delicately positioned houses somehow manage to cling to the cliffs. The next village along is Praiano, on a flatter piece of land and with a 12th-century church. Furore in the hills above a fjord has its own winery.
Amalfi itself is picturesque, as it rises from the harbour to the top of its 13th-century cathedral. As the coast’s largest town, it has a good selection of bars, restaurants and accommodation. Adjoining it is Atrani, a fishing village with a dramatic, beachside road supported by arches.
High above is Ravello whose Villa Rufolo’s landscaped gardens offer magnificent panoramas of the coastline below. Due to its position, this town boasts the Amalfi Coast hotels with the best views and, of course, prices to match. Back at sea level Minori and Maiori have the longest beaches.
Due of all this splendor, you might struggle to find cheap Amalfi Coast hotels, but there is also a selection of affordable apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com, and in any case the fantastic views makes the price well worth it.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.8Good - What previous guests thought, 282 reviewsWe had a great stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely perfect — central and convenient for everything we needed. The apartment was super clean and well-maintained, and the check-in and check-out process was very easy. The service overall was excellent — the staff were friendly, professional, and ready to help. There were just a couple of minor issues. The Wi-Fi in our apartment didn’t work properly, but when we reported it, the staff immediately offered us a room change. That kind of responsive service really made a positive impression. Also, the water in the shower drained very slowly, which was a bit uncomfortable. Aside from these small issues, everything else was perfect, and we would definitely stay here again!Guest review byLaliGeorgia
- From £761.82 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 283 reviewsThe comfort in the room. Bed, linens and towels very clean and of very good quality. Our room faced the sea line which was wonderful. Breakfast of very good quality. We had lunch twice in the restaurant and was a wonderful experience. We did not have more because we wanted to explore the area around. Staff is very courteous and polite. Another good thing for us was that the hotel offers free parking. Ah, last but not least, there is an elevator to access lower levels BUT, does not get to all levels. Depending on the room you stay you might need to use the stairs. It worked fine for us. But we did not bring down our luggages. Instead, we bring what we might need in a bag.Guest review byCICEROUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 450 reviewsThe location is simply amazing. From the road it looks just like a small restaurant but there is a whole hotel built on the mountain. Try to travel with small suitcases as there is no elevator and a lot of steps. Not very suitable for people who strugle with going up and down stairs. If the see is stormy you won't be able to swim because the entrance to the water is carved in the rocks and it could be dangerous. The owners and people who work there are wonderful, trying to do everything they can to make guests feel comfortable.Guest review byAntonUkraine

Good continental breakfast, sweet and savoury option to order at your table, everything was fresh and good quality. Very convenient parking near the entrance with plenty of space but we visited during winter time, might not be this easy to park in high season.Guest review byPiXpaaItaly

Amalfi is a small and charming town with beautiful architecture and a lovely atmosphere. However, since it’s the central town of the entire Amalfi Coast, it tends to get very crowded — which unfortunately takes away some of its charm. That said, it’s still worth a visit, especially to admire its history and beauty. But I highly recommend exploring the nearby towns as well — like Positano, Atrani, Maiori, Minori, and others — each of them has its own unique character and is often much more peaceful and authentic.Guest review byLiza ManijaLatvia - 6.0

Beautiful place with unreal views. Paths of Gods is a must. Rent a Vespa to maximise your experience and visiting nearby towns. Be prepared to be completely ripped off for everything, food, drink is ridiculously expensive.Guest review byRoss - 10.0
We loved where we stayed.
We loved where we stayed. Last year, we visited the Amalfi Coast which was beautiful. This year we went to Capri, which was amazing. The local shops were great and the people are very friendly and helpful. We ate locally or cooked and had a few favourite spots. It was easy to walk around where we stayed, for longer trips we had the rental car. We could ask our host for directions and tips on where to visit.Guest review byCarmelIreland - 10.0

We think Vietri is the best place to stay on the Amalfi coast. It is easy to reach (most other towns are a pain to drive to), and is a great place to explore from, with Pompeii only 25 mins drive and Herculaneum around 35 minutes, all motorway. The town itself is very authentic and prices are reasonable compared to the better known places. The boat service to other Amalfi towns is regular and easy to use without being too expensive (€25 return to Amalfi for 2 people) - we enjoyed the boat trips as much as the towns which were generally heaving with tourists, I’d hate to think what high season is likeGuest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Amazing city with very nice restaurants and great ferry connection. It was a very good decision for us to stay in a smaller city, because Maiori has a fantastic beach, it was not that busy, but we still had access to all the bigger cities on the coast.Guest review byBettinaNorway - 8.0

We loved our stay at the hotel however I would not recommend it for those with small children or those who have a disability because of the amount of stairs you have to climb to get into and out of the hotel itself. David, our host was excellent. He recommended places to eat and to go to. We also hired a car and was provided with private parking for an additional cost. The view from our room was also beautiful.Guest review bySarina19United Kingdom - 10.0

Praiano is a great place to be if you're ok with staying local and in a smaller town. Amazing views, not very walkable (as in there's not really a strip or a condensed area to visit, it's a little spread out).Guest review byTomy - 10.0

Furore is around 15km from amalfi, sounds close but in reality due to the winding roads it takes around 25 minutes in a car/bus Furore is quite spread out so you need to take that in to account when staying there. Car/moped is the best method of transport followed by the bus, walking is an option but be prepared for many steep hills. This is a perfect base to get into amalfi, but be aware that parking in amalfi itself is challenging and the police/car towing companies are red hot!Guest review byMARKUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Peaceful and quiet—perfect for a relaxing vacation. There are plenty of good restaurants and enough markets for everyday needs. The area also offers great historical sites to explore, along with the beautiful Valle delle Ferriere nature park nearby. A convenient bus stop with frequent service makes it easy to get around the area without a car.Guest review byNemanjaSerbia
