    Our stay in Kilkenny was incredible. We were able to check in a few hours earlier and really appreciated this - we were exhausted! The hotel is located in the centre. We walked around the entire afternoon and enjoyed the sun and local food & history. The staff is friendly and sweet and made sure we felt comfortable during our stay. We slept well throughout the night (it was so quiet!) and enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the morning. Parking was available and easily accessible. We would definitely stay here again!

    Wow, we had a great experience there. Starting with a smiling, charming and patient owner who helped us and also gave us knowledge that advanced our trip. The place is wonderful, very clean, the bed and sheets are comfortable and we enjoyed it more than the hotels we had on the trip. A magical glamping and a great place to spend the night.

    Kilkenny is a lovely small city right on a river.

    Kilkenny is a lovely small city right on a river. We recommend taking advantage of a good walking tour. We did, and it was a perfect way to spend two hours on a sunny morning. Our guide was superb, filling us in on the history of the city with interesting and humorous stories. The castle is an excellent representation of “castles” in general, and we recommend taking the time to tour the castle. There is a very nice cafeteria/restaurant in the old Royal Stable right across from the front entrance to the castle; the food was good and the setting is wonderful.

    We had a walk around and found it to be very quiet, no loud noise we actually liked it. The takeaway food was fabulous and really good value. It was the perfect location for us as the event we were attending was only 17mins away.

    A gorgeous rural location within easy walk of the pub, church and shop. The welcome was genuine and everything provided was of excellent quality. The property was beautifully decorated and the whole experience was wonderful. Dolores was a great host. Brilliant!!!

    Such a beautiful place you can rent bikes to go along the canal also boat trip! Beautiful chipper fab pubs and just beautiful scenery if your looking for a relaxing night away this is it. The staff in water side guest house are absolutely lovely & so helpful! Also the breakfast is amazing. I will continue to come back every year with my children as they love to fish for the Minos in the canal so bring some fishing nets and a bucket for some extra fun.

    Inistioge was charming.

    Inistioge was charming. We ventured into the village for supplies and the little store had everything. The pub staff were friendly, but you need to go early if you’re looking for a meal. It’s very busy. Our party wasn’t a walking party as it included two elderly ladies, but they loved the views from the benches. There is ample opportunity to walk and some lovely trails. If you like bird-watching there are lots to see including a resident heron that you can see from the bridge.

    If you drive it’s fantastic if not it’s a bit out of the way if you want to ramble around but I could have stayed in the hotel all day it was so relaxing and that’s what I mainly wanted so it suited me

    Freshford is a typical country village with not too much...

    Freshford is a typical country village with not too much going on. That being said, we found the chip shop, "The Brennan Sisters" food to be super - too good - we ended up eating from it every night! We didnt go into the local pubs as after days sightseeing, we just wanted to chill. The Church in the village was beautiful too. Great, well stocked Mace supermarket close to the accommodation.

    Smithwick’s experience was great..

    Smithwick’s experience was great.. Very easy to find parking for our rental car. Sullivan’s experience was equally interesting - great food. Visit of the medieval town along with his numerous shops was quite something… Overall the friendliness of the Irish people was memorable. Great review for sure.

    Thomastown was an excellent base for visiting sites in Kilkenny, Dunbrody Famine Ship at New Ross, Waterford Crystal Factory, Hook Lighthouse among others. There are a number of closer places of interest such as Jerpoint Abbey. The only drawback was the lack of options for evening meals although Kilkenny is only a 15 minute drive away and fills the bill perfectly!

    I don’t know it as a tourist centre in its own right but it is a reasonable car drive to other sights in the county south of Kilkenny City. It,s a very convenient stop-off on the way to Rosslare evening ferry, with time to visit one or two sights on the way.
