FAQs about hotels in Istria
Land of History, Sun and Wine
The land of stony beaches, sapphire seas and rocky mountains, Istria is the largest peninsula of the Adriatic Sea. It’s a popular tourist destination famous for its cuisine, weather and wine.
Istria has been a part of many powerful empires: the Byzantine, Roman, Venetian, Austro-Hungarian and more recently, Yugoslavian. Each of them has left an easily recognisable mark on the architecture, giving you an opportunity for a crash course in the region’s fascinating past just by travelling around.
The Brijuni Islands are a must-see for that reason. They were once President Tito’s private property with a large zoo, over 200 dinosaur footprints and a never-ending stream of international guests, including heads of state and Hollywood film stars.
Located near the Brijuni is the largest city of the Istria region, Pula, best-known for the beautiful Roman architecture and tranquil countryside surrounding it, as well as for its winemaking and fishing traditions.
Whether you’re visiting Pula or other towns like Pazin, Porec or Opatija, make sure to visit local restaurants and try Italian-influenced dishes with famous Istrian peppers, truffles and seafood. Finish your meal with grappa or a glass of sweet wine - the best comes from the Kalavojna region.
Istria is a diverse region and Booking.com offers equally diverse properties. From boutique hotels to comfortable apartments, you have a range of nearly 600 properties to choose from.

Pula is a very nice place with friendly people.
Pula is a very nice place with friendly people. We really, really enjoyed it! The restaurants were great, and there was so much to see and learn. I would recommend a minimum stay of 7 days to fully experience everything the city and surrounding area have to offer.Guest review byChesronNetherlands - 10.0
Very nice city, with wonderful old town and nice beaches.
Very nice city, with wonderful old town and nice beaches. The restaurants are good as well, and anybody can find something to pass the time. The nightlife is very active, there are many oppurtinites to have a party. Who is looking for a more quiet holiday, they should consider book their aparment away from the city center. The beaches are good but sometimes overcrowded. If you plan to visit other places in Istria, Porec is a good "home base". Everything is 50-70km away.Guest review byÁdámHungary - 10.0
We were there for 4 nights so basically had 3 days to visit.
We were there for 4 nights so basically had 3 days to visit. Free historical tour and craft tour are available and steps away from the studio. These walking tours give you an opportunity to visit the many alleyways of shops as well as give you the background of the culture and politics. Restaurants are numerous and food is good. Smoking is heavy on the outdoor dining so non-smokers must sit inside. Farmers market is a couple of blocks up the street along with the fish market. Bring a bag. A lot of things are paid in cash. Local wine is a hit and a miss. Golf carts are available to take you around for less than a taxi.Guest review byAwesomeManUSUnited States - 8.0

The town of Umag has a charming coastal feel particularly at the historic centre. There are plenty of food options, lovely sunsets and a motorised 'train' to transport people from their resorts and hotels to the town for only 4€. Prices overall are very reasonable compared to other European destinations.Guest review byVincentUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Very busy town very clearly oriented to beach tourists, little to no historical or scenic attractions. Traffic is a nightmare in the mornings and evenings. A few traffic lights at pedestrian crossings would probably improve flow overall.Guest review byAlexanderSweden - 10.0

Great town, noticeably clean , looks very smart and a credit to the community, lots of events going on with plenty of restaurants and bars. Pleasant walk into town each evening from our hotel. Have already told people to consider the area for a holiday.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Atmospheric small town with harbour.
Atmospheric small town with harbour. Lots of super eating places. Old town on the hill full of cafes and easily accessed by charming road train. Miles of traffic free cycle and walking paths adjoining the sea to nearby resorts including FKK in Koversada. Excellent facilities for all family ages.Guest review byDenis no menaceUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The village is small, but has alot of tour boats straight from the harbour, so you don't have to go to Pula. Seemed to be mainly souvenir shops. Would recommend pizza from Fiorelli and dinner at Navetta. At night it was quiet outside the centre.Guest review bySWScotlandUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Rabac has is a pretty but v small beach front village. If you don't expect much its fine but there is not a lot to do round there and buses are few and far between and taxis expensive in relation to distance.Guest review byJHESLIN1United Kingdom - 10.0

The Kamenjak park is fantastic and although in august it was really full of people, we could find a nice place where to swim without too many people. We went around with the bike and in general we could follow paths where car were not allowed, otherwise it was a bit annoying because there were a lot of cars. We ate at the Safari bar, it was full of people but they are very well organized and the food is good and reasonable priced. Probably, the best would be to go in June or September when there are less people. It would be nice if car were not allowed or at least if there was a maximum number allowed.Guest review byValentinaItaly
