FAQs about hotels on Santorini
A Greek Island Dream
Imagine a typical Greek island with whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and sloping cliffs, and the chances are that you’re thinking of Santorini. Protectively curving around 4 other islands in its archipelago, this volcanic island has fertile ground bringing forth lovely rosé wine and some of the sweetest cherry tomatoes you’ll ever taste.
High on a caldera shelving into the sea, the capital Fira overlooks the cruise liners plying the turquoise Aegean waters below. North is Imerovigli, home to several 5-star Santorini hotels with fantastic views.
Also providing amazing views is the accommodation in Oia across the bay. Cascading down the slopes, the sea of white here is only dispersed by vibrant pink flowers, blue domes and the brown of ancient windmills, all becoming black silhouettes as the sun sets.
Santorini Airport is on the other side of the island and 2 resorts south of it – Kamari and Perissa – have the best, black sand beaches. However, the most visually impressive is Red Beach at Akrotiri where the stunning red colour of the caldera and sand makes the trek down the rockface well worth it. Just time it right to avoid high tide! Also near Akrotiri are excavations of a Minoan era settlement.
Wherever you choose to stay, Booking.com has a fantastic range of B&Bs, apartments and hotels in Santorini (Thira in Greek).

We only stayed in Fira before Island hopping.
We only stayed in Fira before Island hopping. However, it is a stunning place to visit as we have done so on many occasions. You need to be pretty mobile as it's steep in places with lots of steps! Prices vary at various bars and restaurants and you will pay top price to watch the sunset with a view to die for, but there are other lovely places more reasonably priced further down the town.Guest review byAndreaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
So beautiful and picturesque!
So beautiful and picturesque! Take lots of photos, you won’t regret it! Restaurants are a bit overpriced but there are plenty of other food options around. The tours are worth it so be sure to book something you’d like to see. A car to get around is best but the buses are so easy to use to tour the whole island!Guest review byOlgaCanada - 8.0

Kamari is probably one of the only area to have beach access. BUT you need special shoes otherwise it will be a nightmare. The black sand is also deadly hot so shoes are a must. Some beach clubs like Woodoo are super nice.Guest review byOlivierFrance - 2.0
It’s an expensive town.
It’s an expensive town. Beach is difficult - all bars and restaurants offer ‘free sunloungers’ to customers but then you must spend at least €20pp in the restaurant- and are persistent on reminding you to spend the money. There is VERY difficult sea access all along the beach - slippery flat rock for quite a while - so getting in and out of the sea was somewhat challenging. And large waves. And it was boiling hot - not great. I wouldn’t consider returning ever!Guest review bynoname12380United Kingdom - 10.0
We loved Imerovigli.
We loved Imerovigli. It has some lovely cafes and restaurants away from busy Fira which is just a 20 minute walk down the hill. Avocado restaurant is great for dinner and Ellie cafe next door excellent for great coffee and breakfast. Wonderful sunsets!!Guest review byPippaAustralia - 10.0
This was our second time staying in the village.
This was our second time staying in the village. Very convenient for getting around not too far to walk to Fira. We don’t like crows so prefer to stay outside of the main tourist areas this is just far enough away from the capital. Plenty of places to eat in the village a few shops and bus stop just at the top of the main road.Guest review byCerieUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Akrotiri is a beautiful town.
Akrotiri is a beautiful town. I definitely recommend visiting the Akrotiri archaeological site, but the entrance fee of 20 euros is honestly way too expensive. The White Beach and Red Beach are nice, but not really our thing because they’re overcrowded. We preferred finding some quieter beaches insteadGuest review byMilosCzech Republic - 10.0

Quiet little town located quite high up on the island so the views are just awesome. It's also super central and close to everything. We hired a quad for the 4 days in Santorini, this was such a good idea as it was so easy to get around the island.Guest review byThibautAustralia - 10.0

Best location in Santorini you can get just in the the heart right in between Thira and Imerovigli - 10-15mins walk in both directions. Beautiful and relaxing town with everything you could ask for and still without the noise from clubs until late night like in Thira! Firostefani simply is a must to pick!Guest review byMrMajklIreland - 2.0

the location is not what it seams, it is just between the main road and other construction sites or empty fields, with no nice view. Overrated prices on booking.com compared with the reception prices or any other nice hotels even in Oia.Guest review byralucaRomania
