We were immediately felt welcome by the staff, all staff were amazing and so friendly. They went out of their way for us, very attentive at dinner, which was delicious. We can recommend the breakfast too. The cabanas were super cute and really nice, will definitely come again.

Everything about The Fanny Talbot is fabulous The accommodation is immaculate and tasteful. The staff are amazing - thank you so much, Nevin and Luke. The other staff members were brilliant also, but I don't have their names. The location with private parking close by could not be better. The hotel is absolutely lovely. The location, the view, the room, and most of all the lovely and extremely helpful, polite, and fun the host is. Before arriving the contact was also amazing (via email). This amazing lady helped us with everything we wanted. We had a special request about parking our motorcycles and she remembered. We got an even better room (upgrade) at no charge. The breakfast was made of high-quality products. The coffee was delicious. There was even a surprise waiting for us - the hotel is on the UK army jet plane route and every weekday they fly over the building in the morning - what a spectacle! I am coming back to this hotel for sure!

    Pretty Village focused around a railway station within a...

    Pretty Village focused around a railway station within a steep sided valley. Several camping / outdoor shops but don't expect bargains as the prices are similar or even slightly higher than elsewhere due to the "captive audience" of people in the area to enjoy the outdoors. Many eating out options, most of which are also hotels and offer broadly similar menus of "pub grub" / "grill" type food. Also a very popular Indian restaurant and a couple of Pizza places, and one Tapas. The Chinese was closed when we visited. If you prefer to self cater there is a Spar and a Londis with a decent bakery within the Spar. We visited at the end of the school holiday season and we thought all the food places were surprisingly quiet except the Pizza place in the station, the curry house and the Royal Oak hotel. There also didn't seem to be any sign of "nightlife" to speak of, even on Friday night (maybe people are too tired after outdoor activities?). Some establishments only opened Friday and Saturday nights. Its a good base for the area being at the junction of two main road routes. You can also walk straight out of the village with several way marked routes of varying difficulty, or just doing your own map reading. You can easily spend a day browsing the shops and cafes and taking in the pretty Pont-y-Pair and river rapids. However by day two, you will probably be ready to explore further.

    Barmouth felt too busy on arrival. The train was overheated and very crowded for the journey back to Shrewsbury. That destroyed a perhaps-naive hope that it would be an idyllic chance to view Wales. The Last Inn does not understand customer relations: poor service, sticky tables and dodgy wine is a disappointing last impression.

    A small, compact city that's a little run-down and in need of some government cash to bring more people in. We've never been in such a quiet city centre on a Saturday night; plenty of pubs, not enough people! So many Turkish barbers, so few decent restaurants...and no hotels! Plenty of take-out eateries, but that's not what tourists need! Lovely setting, Welsh government: you're missing out on tourism in Bangor, so splash the cash and glam it up...decent restaurants, a couple of hotels and a modern bar or two. The city should be very grateful for the Black Bull, JD Wetherspoon's, the only busy pub in town!

    A charming little village with plenty of independent shops, cafés, and restaurants. It’s very picturesque and perfectly located for visiting nearby attractions such as Portmeirion, Porthmadog, Barmouth, Black Rock Sands, and more.

    Lovely stay in Aberdyfi it was very busy over the Bank Holiday period as usual but that's what make the atmosphere. Recommend if you visit to book restaurants as they get full and be prepared if busy they run out of food quickly so may not have the full menu.

    We stayed in the absolutely wonderful Gwesty Seren Hotel and did the 70 mph Titan Zip line, fantastic. Take a bee-line for the grapes hotel bar and restaurant to eat out, amazing. Photo is one of the amazing views from the Gwesty Seren Hotel

    Bala is a lovely town at the end of the lake.

    Bala is a lovely town at the end of the lake. It seems to consist mainly of one high Street with various shops, pubs and eateries. The lake is beautiful. We hired a double kayak which cost 40.00ph and the whole hiring process was super easy. We also did the steam train ride along the lake which was lovely. There's lots more to explore so I'd definitely go back for a couple of days and explore the area some more.
