FAQs about hotels in Scotland
A Rugged Jewel
With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!
The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.
The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.
The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.
As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

- From US$182.54 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 368 reviewsJust wow! The nicest BnB I've stayed in. From the minute we were welcomed at the door we felt like honoured guests. Graham showed us the beautiful rooms, all so large and airy and all individually decorated with Karen's eye for colour and style. Karen is also a talented cook. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious and beautifully presented. The guest lounge is a lovely place to chat to fellow guests and the gardens are lovely. The couple grow some of their own fruit and veg. It was lovely to wander around. In the morning Graham had printed out a detailed map of a scenic route to our next destination. Great waterfalls...thanks Graham.Guest review byLisaSpain

Easy city to get around with all the trams and buses.
Easy city to get around with all the trams and buses. Beautiful city with lots of history. Would highly recommend attending the Tattoo, it was spectacular. The Princess Street Garden and Park is a great place to walk with lots of points of interest. Recommend the hop on hop off buses to get from one area of the city to another, It's saves a lot of walking. A 48 hour pass will get you to all the areas of the city including the Royal Yacht Britannia. The Waterson book store on Princess Street has a really nice cafe with comfortable seating on the second floor and a fantastic view of the castle. The Vennel Steps next to the Milkman coffee shop has another great view of the Castle. Overall a must see part of a Scottish adventure.Guest review byFranceCanada - 10.0

This is the second time we came to Glasgow. The city is beautiful, the people are extremely nice (except for driver of taxi 222). The transport is a bit difficult to master, but I will study it better next time I come, next summer. The weather is unpredictable.Guest review byVellaMalta - 10.0

Inverness is a fantastic city, compact and easy to walk around with a good selection of shops. Everyone is welcoming. I'd recommend the Ness Walk and Islands. There are some great restaurants, that do early bird offers. I also did a Loch Ness day tour which was good. Unfortunately i didn't have time to do any other tours. As a solo traveller I felt quite safe walking around Inverness. The Castle was still being restored, but that's on my to do list next time.Guest review byWendyUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Aberdeen was a surprisingly attractive city to visit and easy to get around on foot. I liked the fact that it was nowhere near as busy as Edinburgh yet had lots of character. Enjoyed the look of the harbour right up against Union Square, with many ocean-going tugs in close proximity. Plenty of good pubs, with a festive atmosphere. We ate at Ma Cameron's, with good pub grub, and Mi Amore, cosy Italian restaurant in one of the back streets.Guest review byStuartSouth Africa - 10.0

I love Fort William, the area with the Loch right in front is stunning. There are some great little pubs to eat and have a drink, and a good amount of restarunts to choose from. There are hotels to B and Bs to stay. It is small with a lot of tourists from all over the world. It is a good base to drive and see some great country side.Guest review byWilliamUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We were using Oban to access the Cal Mac ferry to Lismore, as my partner's dad is buried there. Everything went very smoothly and we had a nice sailing there and back. We enjoyed a couple of excellent meals at the Waterfront Sea Food Restaurant and ES-USK Seafood Restaurant. Enjoyed an evening of live music and a few drinks in The Oban Inn. Finished the trip off by visiting McCaig's Tower, with excellent views over the town, sea, and surrounding Islands.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Pitlochy has the most beautifully situated theatre in the UK and its summer festival had become an annual event for me. Amazing!
Amazing! A must see place full of history and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Didn’t want to leave. Stunning views from the top of Stirling Castle, Stirling Jail’s Observation Tower and the William Wallace Monument. Free shuttle bus every few minutes up to the monument and free to view from the outside. All historical attractions worth a visit for the view as well as the history. Stirling old town available to see on foot. Easy distance from restaurants and pubs too. Lots of nice restaurants to choose from. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Scotland. Allow 3-4 days and allow 2.5 hours for Stirling Castle.Guest review byKEVINUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Aviemore has a great buzz about it – a proper gateway to the Cairngorms with a strong tourist vibe that makes it feel lively year-round. The high street is packed with outdoor shops, from big names like Ellis Brigham and Tiso to smaller independents, so whether you’re after hiking boots, ski gear or a new waterproof, you’re well catered for. There’s also a good mix of cafés, pubs and restaurants, which keeps the place welcoming after a day outdoors. It’s the kind of town where you instantly feel in “holiday mode,” with a steady flow of visitors giving it energy without losing its Highland charm.Guest review byAndyUnited Kingdom
