This hotel was such a surprise for us, as it didn't look nearly as beautiful on line. We arrived on a beautiful summer afternoon, with the sun shining across the marshes and families playing in the water. The delightful hotel (which had plenty of parking) had newly renovated and the rooms were incredible comfortable -- almost like a small cottage to oneself with lovely garden areas to sit and have a drink. The food was also excellent. This was truly a find for us, as we didn't know what to expect in Blakeney. We wish we could have stayed longer and explored the spectacular coastline more.

FAQs about hotels in Norfolk

A Rural Retreat for Royalty

Sleepy and agricultural, Norfolk has peaceful villages and deserted beaches that provide a relaxing country escape. Its riverside county town Norwich has historic buildings and a popular market dominated by a cathedral. It also houses several luxury Norfolk hotels on Booking.com.

East are the Norfolk Broads, tranquil waterways that pass by small villages, windmills and verdant countryside. Further east Great Yarmouth, with its Pleasure Beach, is one of the most popular Norfolk seaside resorts. Other beaches are at Cromer, whose pier has a theatre at the end, and Hunstanton, home to a Sea Life centre and a range of North Norfolk hotels. Between them are Wells-Next-the-Sea where wetlands continue to Blakeney, popular for birdwatching.

Also on the coast is Sheringham from where a steam train runs to inland Holt. Swaffham to the south-west is a small market town and surrounding it are some of the Norfolk country houses offering accommodation. Thetford to the south has a riverside park and is by Thetford Forest, site of a Go Ape high ropes course. Snetterton Racetrack is midway between there and Attleborough.

A speedway track is located in historic King’s Lynn, another market town whose wide river means that it also acts as a port. To the north-west Dersingham neighbours Sandringham, whose country house is a private residence of the Queen.

One of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed in. We had a top floor room facing the beautiful green and heard the chimes of the church bells. The bed was so comfortable and there was a separate TV seating area next to the bathroom with tea/coffee/ biscuits/mini bar. Excellent choice of breakfast and we ate in the pub dining area in the evening. The hotel also has a residents lounge area, gym and a cinema offering complimentary popcorn .. which is great for kids. The staff were all very friendly and helpful including the man on reception who carried my luggage up to our room. We would definitely stay there again!

We felt so welcome and so well looked after. All the little extra details were fantastic, and we felt that nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was so good, superb quality and perfectly cooked, there was even a choice as to how crispy the bacon was cooked! It really set us up for the day. Such a quiet area, but so close to the town. The locals were really friendly, felt like a lovely community, I've never said 'good morning' or 'hello' to so many strangers. We came to relax for a couple of days and definitely did that. We will be back! Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

The cliff hotel is perfectly positioned for the beach and bus stop. The whole hotel is clean and cared for, the bed was exceptionally comfy, I'm only sorry that I forgot to have a look to check what make it was, for future reference. I paid a bargain price for my room in the middle of December. Growing up in Great Yarmouth in the seventies I never imagined that I would ever be a guest at the cliff hotel. I loved it and would definitely look to stay there again when I return to the area.

    What a wonderful city!

What a wonderful city! Lots to see and do most within comfortable walking distance. The Castle is extremely interesting and one could spend a day as there is much to see. There are lots of lovely choices for dining and shopping. Lovely car free streets to stroll. Can’t wait to return! There is much more to see and wonderful theatre as well.

We've been to Yarmouth so many times, probably about 40 times , we've always loved it there, nice pubs, regent road shops , we visited potters heigham a lovely boating village with amazing fish and chips, we also had an evening at the greyhound track. We enjoyed the amusement arcades. We always find lots to do. The waterways and walks along the beach were very nice too.

There's literally nothing to do here. I had always been led to believe Kings Lynn is a quaint historical town/village – in some ways it is, but completely lacks personality. I only stayed in Kings Lynn because of a concert at the Sandringham Estate – if you haven't got a reason to be in Kings Lynn, don't bother.

Late September short holiday, weather was generally kind. Plenty of walking trips, trip to the Broads and on the one day that it rained we had a fun afternoon enjoying the peer theatre show. Parking in the town is expensive but is free after 6pm. We were not impressed with the No 1 Chip B Shop but we really enjoyed meals at the Amber Restaurant at the Cromer Country Club.

Some good cafés & snack places but the restaurants weren’t anything special. The fish & chips weren’t very good & nowhere seemed to have the other fish dishes on the menu, available. Small and flat, so easy to get around, but just a street really. For a 3-generation family, it was a nice place to relax on a seaside holiday but there isn’t a great deal to do otherwise.

Its a beautiful area with lots of lovely villages. Oxburgh Hall is very near too which is a stunning National Trust property. Just be careful when driving of the wild life - the pheasants in particular are crazy & don't always move out of the way in time. I visited many other places in Norfolk & did not stay just in Swaffham.
