FAQs about hotels in England
The Small Country with Big Appeal
For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Words can’t do justice to the capital London - an exciting mix of famous sights, royalty and vibrant life. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are fabulous cities that have emerged from their industrial past to be cutting-edge centres of culture.
Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol are well known for their buzzy music scene, while sedate Oxford and Cambridge are famous for their universities and punting. Stately York still maintains its city walls and Windsor has the wonderful castle where the Queen often resides.
Sheffield and Derby border the magnificent Peak District, while the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are close to Blackpool, one of England’s favourite beach destinations. Other very popular beaches are in Brighton, Eastbourne, Torquay and Scarborough.
With a beautifully rugged coastline, mystical Cornwall has England hotels in the country, as do the Cotswolds where stone houses line picturesque villages. The Georgian spa cities of Bath and Harrogate also have impressive stone architecture.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what England has to offer, but wherever you visit, you can be sure that Booking.com has a fantastic range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in England to choose from.

- From £161.10 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.0Good - What previous guests thought, 1,838 reviewsSuch a friendly, helping and lovely staff at Avon Hotel. They helped us with everyting we needed, city instructions,Oyster cards, socket adapter, taxi for the airport.I felt so sorry I didnt had the chance to say goodbay with a big hug because of the early hour we left.I recomand Avon Hotel,it is closed to eveeything,15- 20 min to anywhere you wished to go.The Paddington station is 3 min walk.We only used the undergound and not the bus.The Hyde Park is 5- 10 min walk and it is amazing to visit. We basically walked from Hyde Park to Victoria station. The breakfast was also very good and tasty, with coffee, orange juice, tea, fruits. In London it is not easy to find a hotel which offers also breakfast, therefore for this location is a plus and it is something what we were looking for when choosing the hotel.Highly recomomend Avon Hotel!Guest review byIsabellaRomania

Love London! 5 days just wasn't enough time.
Love London! 5 days just wasn't enough time. We went on the London Eye, visited Buckingham Palace and walked through the Mall to Trafalgar Square. Highly recommend Covent Gardens and Piccadilly Circus. A walk through Herrod's was nice and London Bridge is a must with Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben). Seeing the Crown Jewels is definitely something to see and highly recommend. A must is the National Gallery. We stopped and walked through Mayflower (where the Billionaires live).Guest review byMaryCanada - 8.0

Nice walks in town. Museums, library, roman fort, cathedral, Manchester city stadium tour, Football museum. Interesting old town. Nice restaurants. Except Jimmy's Killer Prawns, that as not very good.Guest review byPeter PaulNetherlands - 10.0
So much to see, so much to do.
So much to see, so much to do. Great shopping and great to tour too. Hop on a yellow Liverpool tour bus, fantastic way to get orientated as to where things are. You can also hop on and off the tour bus to see some of the sites and the ticket lasts you all day! The docks are amazing. Again, lots to see and do. Have a boat trip on the Mersea, visit a museum, walk along the promenade and into the docks and enjoy great food at one of the many restaurants and cafes at Albert docks. I stayed at the Holiday inn express, Albert docs... great stay and walking distance to Liverpool one! I will definitely stay again.Guest review byMichelleUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It’s a shame you couldn’t walk around the pleasure beach fun fair without having to pay an entrance fee like you used to be able to years ago . Felt like you were missing out. Too old for rides but young enough to walk round it. Blackpool was kept very clean by the council workers , excellent job there. Lots to see and do .Guest review byJaneUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Jewellery Quarter Museum tour gave a real insight into olden day working methods. Cathedral stained glass is impressive but the building is much smaller than you might expect. Museum and Art Gallery well worth a visit. Really pleased that we caught the last day of the exhibitions at the Ikon Gallery. Not been to "Bimmie" for a long time and was quite shocked by the number of skyscrapers shooting up which are a little overbearing. Found the Metro trams very useful although the main central area sights are easily walkable. If you enjoy shopping you're spoiled for choice.Guest review byEdward - 10.0

Great things to see in the city, and close to Hadrians Wall and Roman towns by train and bus. Discovery museum is a must. And food!! Some of the best food we've eaten at restaurants and wine bars, and it was Restaurant Week - aim for that if you can!Guest review byLEIGHTONUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Bristol is a compact and a pleasant city, easy to get to the attractions from the apartment. Clifton village/arcade is worth a visit and off course the Brunel suspension bridge is a must see. Harbourside was vibrant with lots going on and we recommend the River Station restaurant. The Museum and Art Gallery are well worth a visit.Guest review byNewlands - 2.0
We had two rooms booked since March for our stay in...
We had two rooms booked since March for our stay in September, one of which was specifically a twin room for my two sons (aged 18 and 21). On arrival, after a long and confusing check-in process, we were first told that the hotel could not find our reservation. After around 15 stressful minutes, they eventually located it—only to then inform us that they had no twin rooms available due to an unspecified "issue," which was never properly explained. Instead, they gave my sons a king bed to share. These are two grown men, so it was completely unsuitable. In the end, one of them had to sleep on the floor. This was a shocking and very disappointing start to our holiday, especially after booking so far in advance.Guest review byPaul - 10.0
We stayed in the centre of Leeds because we wanted to...
We stayed in the centre of Leeds because we wanted to explore what it had to offer. We walked along the river and canal basin, taking in some of the history of the place. In Mid-September 2025, there is a discovery walk which requires you to find codes on each of the bridges and then you can play its history back. Its called The Bridges of Leeds and brochures were available in the Hyatt Place Hotel. The Corn Exchange is well worth a visit with lots of smaller craft type shops. Close by is the Famous Leeds Market and the Victorian Quarter. the are tons of shops available of all types throughout the City and the City Museum and Art Gallery are well worth a visit. Do be prepared to walk a lot though, we were there for 3 days and the lowest step count was 16,000!Guest review byFlyDutch1United Kingdom
