Best Hotel ever! We will come back without kids, more relax. Thanks for the nice receptionist who helped us with the taxi! Breakfast was extremely tasty, and what a treat, no strange coffee machines with third-class coffee, but very good filter coffee, which was poured by the waitress. There is a lot of staff who are very attentive to your needs. the guest feels like a king! Thank you for the delicious surprise for my 50th birthday!

The hotel is perfectly situated minutes from Liverpool one. Tastefully decorated it feels warm and classy. Food menu was limited but everything we ate was delicious. The rooms were smart, clean and comfortable. The real shining star of the trip was the hotel Staff. Every single member of staff was friendly and helpful. It was our first stay at the Halyard and we can’t wait to return.

FAQs about hotels in England

The Small Country with Big Appeal

For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Words can’t do justice to the capital London - an exciting mix of famous sights, royalty and vibrant life. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are fabulous cities that have emerged from their industrial past to be cutting-edge centres of culture.

Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol are well known for their buzzy music scene, while sedate Oxford and Cambridge are famous for their universities and punting. Stately York still maintains its city walls and Windsor has the wonderful castle where the Queen often resides.

Sheffield and Derby border the magnificent Peak District, while the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are close to Blackpool, one of England’s favourite beach destinations. Other very popular beaches are in Brighton, Eastbourne, Torquay and Scarborough.

With a beautifully rugged coastline, mystical Cornwall has England hotels in the country, as do the Cotswolds where stone houses line picturesque villages. The Georgian spa cities of Bath and Harrogate also have impressive stone architecture.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of what England has to offer, but wherever you visit, you can be sure that Booking.com has a fantastic range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in England to choose from.

    It was short and sweet.

It was short and sweet. I like stopping over a couple of nights as I can get a direct flight to London from the US, so it's a jumping off spot in Europe for me. I saw the famous "highlights" years ago, but London is the type of place where you can find many different things to see and do for every interest. There are many museums and it's a great city in which to walk. The public transportation is also quite user friendly.

As an architect, I found it an interesting city for the cohabitation of old and new, where several historical and contemporary styles intermingle and overall, the buildings fit together well. Completely different from the Western-European cities which developed concentrically. I felt it like a live demonstration of what means continuity and layered narrative of a city in evolution, from Roman times to present days.

So much to see, so much to do.

So much to see, so much to do. Great shopping and great to tour too. Hop on a yellow Liverpool tour bus, fantastic way to get orientated as to where things are. You can also hop on and off the tour bus to see some of the sites and the ticket lasts you all day! The docks are amazing. Again, lots to see and do. Have a boat trip on the Mersea, visit a museum, walk along the promenade and into the docks and enjoy great food at one of the many restaurants and cafes at Albert docks. I stayed at the Holiday inn express, Albert docs... great stay and walking distance to Liverpool one! I will definitely stay again.

It would be great if more people would visit Blackpool to boost its economy It’s got so many things to offer at a smaller cost than the cities that have the same (dungeons, Madame Tussaud’s, sea life centre etc) plus all the great arcades and a beach! Parking and driving round the centre is no problem Illuminations are as wonderful as ever I hadn’t been to Blackpool for decades, since I was a child and decided to take my owl kids who absolutely loved it! It’s rough round the edges in parts but retains so much charm

Great things to see in the city, and close to Hadrians Wall and Roman towns by train and bus. Discovery museum is a must. And food!! Some of the best food we've eaten at restaurants and wine bars, and it was Restaurant Week - aim for that if you can!

We loved walking round the city - a lovely mix of modern and old. The Shambles is interesting. The River cruise was very enjoyable and a reasonable price. We also enjoyed our walk round the city walls. We found some lovely restaurants but the best for us was Enoteca (family run Italian restaurant ) - the food , the service and the ambience were superb.

Bristol is a compact and a pleasant city, easy to get to the attractions from the apartment. Clifton village/arcade is worth a visit and off course the Brunel suspension bridge is a must see. Harbourside was vibrant with lots going on and we recommend the River Station restaurant. The Museum and Art Gallery are well worth a visit.

We had two rooms booked since March for our stay in September, one of which was specifically a twin room for my two sons (aged 18 and 21). On arrival, after a long and confusing check-in process, we were first told that the hotel could not find our reservation. After around 15 stressful minutes, they eventually located it—only to then inform us that they had no twin rooms available due to an unspecified "issue," which was never properly explained. Instead, they gave my sons a king bed to share. These are two grown men, so it was completely unsuitable. In the end, one of them had to sleep on the floor. This was a shocking and very disappointing start to our holiday, especially after booking so far in advance.

Leeds is a lovely cultural place, with plenty to see and do. Its central to other towns like York and Waterfalls and country hikes. Just be aware if driving through Leeds trying to find a carpark, there isn't any signs for parking, we had to Google and on our return home, I was issued with 2 fines for driving in a street that's just for buses twice! If there's a park and ride go for that as if you have no idea where your going you'll get caught out!
