The room was warm and welcoming. We booked 50 minutes earlier, the receptionist said, The room is ready now. Beautiful grounds to walk around. Felt like one of the elites staying there to be honest. The breakfast was really good and plenty of choice as we sat in this amazing place for our breakfast. Staff are all lovely people. The cleaners were friendly and smiley. Really impressed by the whole experience will visit again.

Tha wheatear was brilliant and the staff were so helpful and friendly. It was a nice view of the lake from the lake suite. The room with a private bathtub was the best choice for relaxing and couple celebrations. Also, the spa and swimming were available and cosy. At this time of year (December), the town was so beautiful and everywhere was decorated for Christmas. It was a dreamy trip.🎄✨️

The hosts were lovely and accommodating. The room we stayed in was spacious but still cosy and it was incredibly clean. The breakfast was delicious. Bacon cooked perfectly! The location was amazing. The hotel is in a great location - just inland from a landing stage on Derwent Water and a 2-mile drive into Borrowdale from Keswick. Unfortunately, due to extremely high rainfall recently the landing stages all round the lake were cut off by high water levels - but this isn't usual and shouldn't detract visitors. Breakfasts were excellent and dinners very enjoyable. The staff were brilliant, friendly, and always keep the hotel spotless - a real asset to the hotel. One extra, thoughtful, thing are the well-stocked bird feeders just outside the restaurant windows - always a magnet for the surrounding birdlife - and a joy to see first thing in the morning.

An old hotel with a special atmosphere, situated in its own large garden (with rabbits nibbling on the grass...), It was quiet as it is on the town outskirts, but 5 min walk to Keswick center. Access to walking paths direct from the hotel. Parking available on site. We had a nice and relatively large room with a view to the bunnies....The staff was very nice.

The cottage was in a good location to visit other parts of the Lake District. Narrow roads but not too busy. We ate in the Cottage in the evening but visited the local pub, just a short walk away, for a pre-dinner drink. We bought some wonderful local bacon from the shop. The Shop was surprisingly well stocked. The Cottage is not in Ambleside which was a good thing as there was a Beer Festival the whole weekend we were there and Town was packed. The Cottage is in a perfect location and great for walkers.
