FAQs about hotels in Cornwall
The Stuff of Legends
Inhabited since prehistory, Cornwall is characterised by a series by rocky bays, fishing villages and spectacular coastline. Right at England’s western tip is Land’s End where sheer cliffs descend into the Atlantic Ocean. Along the coast is popular St Ives, home to many Cornwall hotels by the sea on Booking.com.
Another fantastic beach resort is Penzance, while across the bay is St Michael’s Mount (not to be confused with similar Mont St-Michel in Normandy). Also boasting a wonderful beach is Newquay, though it is best known for its excellent surfing conditions.
Further north is Tintagel, the stuff of legends due to its association with King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The remains of Tintagel Castle are perched dramatically on a rocky promontory, while inland on Bodmin Moor granite tors and stone monoliths only add to Cornwall’s feeling of mystery.
Heading north towards Bude the Cornwall beaches become longer, while on the southern coast Looe is a picturesque town curving around an inlet. To the east near St Austell is the Eden Project, huge domes housing thousands of plants from all over the world.
The county town of Cornwall is Truro, home to an impressive cathedral overlooking the River Fal which flows down to Falmouth Bay, a great spot to try some local Cornish ice cream.

- From US$290.71 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,488 reviewsThe ambiance of the hotel is fantastic! It's a boutique hotel, stylish, colourful, and pleasant to stay at for any reason: in the room, in the bar, restaurant, spa, lobby, and, of course, a lovely terrace with a picturesque ocean view. Spacious bathroom, comfortable bed, ocean view. The sandy Porthminster Beach is just a 5-minute walk. Breakfast includes everything you need; you can also order eggs in addition to the buffet. I had a fantastic time at the spa, which features a pool, two saunas, and a jacuzzi. I also had a great massage. The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the town center, offering a variety of shops, bars, and restaurants. They have a car park, which is good regarding the lack of parking spaces in town.Guest review byTatyanaUkraine
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 75 reviewsAs the Americans say, “what’s not to like?”. I was fortunate enough to stay in The Forte Suite, with floor space larger than my little cottage near Sydney! Sooo comfortable. Loved the ambience, the food, that setting. A special shout-out to our waiter at lunch and dinner, Ricardo, and the restaurant manager ( sadly I don’t know her name) consummate professionals both. Coming from Australia, where pet-friendly places are slowly appearing, what a joy for me to see them welcomed on the terrace and some rooms. My friend and dog stayed in the Garden Room. Wonderful decor and immense outdoor space. If you are planning a visit, don’t hesitate. You will not be disappointed. Thank you, Tresanton.Guest review byCarolAustralia

The changes are beautiful the health club was exceptional. The room was beautiful but my wife likes a firm bed woke with back pain but the jacuzzi sorted that outfit her. The breakfast was very tasty. Shame not a buffet service but eh ho best I suppose stop us over eating. lol. The singer Toby was perfect such a lovely touch. We’re looking into health club membership now. Many thanks well done the St Micheals team.Guest review byNeilCanada

Quirky modern interior at reception, clean rooms, fantastic spa, excellent breakfasts. Dinner and lunch very good with friendly, engaging staff who were surprisingly young but everyone had a superb professional and friendly demeanor. Very impressive all round and thankfully the bar staff can make good cocktails.Guest review byTimothyCayman Islands

The beaches were huge, pristine, almost white sand and with great facilities but we particularly loved the amazing Tate gallery and Barbara Hepworth house. We also found that every local person that we met, both in the galleries, shops, restaurants, bars and the wonderful jazz club (The Western Hotel) were extremely friendly, helpful, talented and knowledgeable.Guest review byJaniceUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It was a good base for travelling around the southern tip of Cornwall. Cheaper accommodation and no crowds. The beach is ok but not as fabulous as neighbouring locations. Boat trips available and we saw dolphins with their young. Work currently in progress upgrading areas along front and in the town. Fave place to eat was The Boathouse and Lamp & Whistle pub lovely placeGuest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Loved the interesting shops and good selection of cafes, bars, restaurants etc. The fish and chips at Harbour Lights were great and we really enjoyed the tapas restaurant Bodega. Able to explore everything in Falmouth on foot if you are based close enough, parking the car every day can be costly. Enjoyed getting the ferry to explore St Mawes. Josh of Wake & Ski was a great instructor for our teenagers trying water skiing for the first time. The Cornish Seal Sanctuary at Gweek was lovely, and just a half hour drive away. Everybody was very friendly, there's a lovely atmosphere in Falmouth.Guest review byJulie - 8.0

The best places to visit were Mevagissey and Charlestown, they both had an old world charm. Fowey was too commercialised and we failed to find somewhere to eat in Looe on Tuesday evening, which was surprising as it looked like a lovely place to spend some time.Guest review byRoryUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Apart from the cathedral there was not much else . We had based ourselves in Truro to visit Tresillik National Trust which in spite of being in great location was rather dissappointing having visited Lanhydrock earlier in the day which was superb. The house in Tressilick was very limited and appeared to be mainly used in lieu of the more usual excellent NT restaurant.Guest review byRogerUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The parking is a bit pricey, crooklets car park £4.60 for 2 hours, tried to book a table at Brandon arms, phoned on Tuesday day time,to book, said for 2 people, said 7 pm was booked, offered 4.45 pm or 8.45,didn't go tried again on Thursday day time same request, told no tables but only at 4.45 or 8.45,what a coincidence I thought, then it clicked,if I ordered a table for 4 or more I would have got a table at 7pm,in my book I call it ,owner being greedy and choosey, manager appeared arrogant and not friendlyGuest review byAdrianUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Looe has a bustling high street, with lots of shops, cafes, pubs. It is also very attractive with a river flowing through the town. Nice coastal walk from Looe to Polperro, frequent busses back to Looe. Looe beach was sandy and good for swimming, rock-pooling etc. For surfing, Newquay was only 90 drive by car. Boat-trips available from the harbour - we did the 'Big Three' trip on a rib. Interesting, small museum about the history of Looe run by very enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers.Guest review byAnneUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Padstow is a busy tourist location, early morning is the best time to pop out for breakfast/coffee before the crowds arrive although most places do not open until 10.00 am. The surrounding area has so much more to offer, coastal walks / bicycle rides / paddle boarding and surfing.Guest review byNicolaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Tintagel is wonderful, and it’s very easy to get around, even when travelling to nearby places such as Boscastle. I visited the Old Post Office, an amazing building that is absolutely worth seeing. And, of course, Tintagel Castle! The walk there is spectacular, and the views from the castle are breathtaking. The castle itself is fantastic, with an incredible atmosphere.Guest review byDeboraUnited Kingdom
