We planned to base ourselves in Nice and explore the French Riviera. We spent 4 nights and 5 days there which was comfortable and time to see most of the sites. We went to Monte Carlo, the ancient village of Eze and Antibes by train and Sainte Tropez by boat. I wouldnt recomment Monte Carlo - it lacked character and soul. I would say Eze and Nice were the highlights. Nice was a delightful surprise and i particulary enjoyed the street scapes and architecture near our hotel (Goldstar Apartments). Nice has lots of good restaurants and the people were friendly. The old town was also very enjoyable with lots to see, shop and eat.Guest review byVincentAustralia - 8.0

We liked the hop on hop off bus though we couldn’t get the audio to work on our phones. The MuCee is great with excellent exhibitions and a sunset cruise on a sailing boat was lovely especially if you are young and happy to swim. But it was also good for an old couple. Like us. Like a lot of French towns, it is difficult to get a sandwich type lunch and also dinner in the evening as lots of restaurants closed in the evening. There is a lot of public transport - metro, buses, trams and you can tap with your card for ticketspGuest review byChrisUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Bordeaux is a fabulous city to visit for a few days.
Bordeaux is a fabulous city to visit for a few days. The architecture is impressive, the streets and squares with pavement cafes and restaurants, the great shopping opportunities, the 'Miroir d'Eau' always with great people-watching, lovely riverside green spaces, the ease of getting around by tram, impressive sculptures... so much to see and do.Guest review bySUEFrance - 10.0

We were only there for 24 hours, but it's a pretty city with lots to explore. We found a couple of walking tours online and combined them to fit the time we had, but managed to see lots of interest in the city centre. It was a perfect stop-over for us between Paris and Carcassonne.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lots of wonderful monuments and historical buildings to visit. Transport system excellent once you have got used to it. Clean and comfortable. A multitude of cafes to choose from. A vibrant city with lots of young people but no trouble. A lot of dog waste though unfortunately.Guest review byBarbaraUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Avignon is a lovely city with so much history to the town as well as close by towns. You can see most of the major sites in one day and can easily travel to other towns like Nimes and Arles. We enjoyed wandering the streets and looking into the cute shops and eating at the restaurants.Guest review byMary BethUnited States - 10.0
Aix-en-Provence is a delightful city.
Aix-en-Provence is a delightful city. It is the birthplace of the painter, Cézanne and there are museums devoted to or include his art. There is a very beautiful boulevard called Cours Mirabeau which is very wide and has many fountains. On Tuesdays and Thursdays there is a huge market there. We ate at one of the restaurants with outdoor seating. This city is well worth the visit!Guest review byEstherCanada - 10.0
Citadel was outstanding.
Citadel was outstanding. Rest of Carcassonne pleasant with tree-lined squares and good restaurant facilities. Canal du Midi runs through Carcassonne and is excellent for pretty walks and boat trips. Nearby is Narbonne (short trip by train), well worth a visit for for its historical sites and cafes/restaurants. Also pretty.Guest review byJerryUnited Kingdom - 8.0

This was not my first trip to Lourdes and I found the destination to be rather pricy. Food is terribly expensive, like a portion of dessert is 9e. The destination only offers the religious aspect unless you leave Lourdes to visit the mountains. The Marian Sanctuary has many ongoing events but one needs to organise oneself, because 100s of people are there.Guest review byCynthiaMalta
