The north and north-west include the picturesque towns of Brantôme and Nontron, surrounded by fields and forests. The south-west area around Bergerac is the wine region of Périgord, while the south-eastern Vézère Valley and upper Dordogne Valley nest the medieval jewel of Sarlat-la-Canéda.

- From US$240.82 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 721 reviewsEverything! The building is very beautiful and romantic. In low season we could easily find a free park spot in front of the hotel (please note free parking is only available in winter up to - I guess - April 1st? I guess parking in high season can be quite challenging in the village centre). Hotel is situation at a great central location. Lovely bar that stayed open until we were done. Bar does have food menu, with easy dishes. Restaurant is there too, but we didn’t tried it. (Btw the pub had non-alcoholic beers which so far appears to be quite scare in most France restaurants, so that was nice). Also the swimming pool / spa area was quiet and the pool jacuzzi area is basically open the entire day from 8am to 9pm. Length is I guess 12m pool. It’s a great pool for a tiny exercise after being in the car the entire day. Spa area has different hours, but we didn’t try it.Guest review bySijandaNetherlands
- From US$98.27 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.6Good - What previous guests thought, 110 reviewsWe had a truly amazing stay. We stayed in one of the houses (Dorioterie) and time flew by. It was spacious, clean, modern and perfect to go with a family of 6 people. Having a private pool was also such a luxury. Every room has its own bathroom, so there’s still a lot of privacy even when you’re with a bigger group. The estate itself is so beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed an evening walk every evening, and every morning a golf session. For every interest there is something to enjoy. We were blown away by the estate, the house, the area and the services/facilities of the domain. We will be back again!Guest review byMichelleNetherlands
- From US$98.27 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.6Good - What previous guests thought, 839 reviewsThe location is good. Some of the sites and museums are within walking distance. Easy walking. It takes time walking from the train station to get to the location because out of season there isn't bus service, and taxis are hard to get. The employees and receptionist are helpful and kind. They agreed to look after my luggage untill the time of my train. It is a 5 - 10 minute walk from a supermarket and petrol station for those who need it. There is a good size rack to dry washed clothes. They have washing machines on the premises to use with payment by credit cards.Guest review byJudith CelinaFrance
- From US$199.43 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 60 reviewsThis was a lovely place to stay for our family of 12. The pool was a bonus for our mid teen kids and there was plenty of space for all of us over 2 cottages. It was about a 8-10 minute drive to the old part of Sarlat and was a great base to explore the other attractions of the area. This is such a beautiful part of France. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a fabulous few days away. Would definitely recommend.Guest review byMelindaAustralia

Fabulous and unspoiled medieval city.
Fabulous and unspoiled medieval city. The city is divided by a straight road with many shops. It is good to explore both sides. One has all the main buildings the other side has a maze of charming streets. at night the town is gaslit - very atmospheric! The market is exceptional.Guest review byclareUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It is a lovely medieval town, kept that way too. Lovely bars and restaurants, two museums, however not too much else to do. We did not have the time to go on a river trip, which would have been lovely. Overall a lovely town.Guest review byJanet - 10.0

We loved the narrow streets, with bars and bistros everywhere. The cathedral is a very striking building, and can be seen from long distances. We enjoyed the markets, and the general atmosphere of the town. We felt safe walking round.Guest review byRosemary - 6.0

Boulazac has commercial trading estates which are useful for accessing supermarkets and petrol stations but not for tourists unless the accommodation is found on the outskirts where there are quiet and tranquil residential areas and semi-rural locations to be enjoyed. It is, however, very close to Perigueux with its tourist attractions and gastronomic cuisine. It is also well placed for visiting the Dordogne and all of its attractions by car.Guest review byLeslieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Montignac is a lovely old town on the Vezere river that offers a more relaxed and less frantic sojourn in the Dordogne area. The town has a wide range of bars and restaurants and is a joy to walk with bridges giving access to both banks of the river.Guest review byJohnNew Zealand - 10.0

One of the prettiest places I have visited. It looks like it came out of a fairytale. It was wonderful to walk around the village because everything look so pretty. It’s perfect for slow traveling. The products there didn’t seem overpriced, so we bought a lot of nice souvenirs.Guest review byBellaPhilippines - 10.0

This touristy village is a great base for a holiday in the Dordogne area of France. It's the world centre of prehistory, complete with the excellent National Museum of Prehistory and loads of caves and rock shelters nearby. The incredible cave paintings at Lascaux and the medieval town of Sarlat (amazing market on Saturday mornings) are a short drive away. There are loads of great restaurants in the village, and also a weekly evening food market on Fridays in the summer, with fabulous food stalls (top-quality take away dinner!). We didn't have a car during our holiday - we travelled there and back to Les Eyzies by train, and made full use of the local bus services 337 and 339 which run a very cheap summer service for tourists to Sarlat and Lascaux. Canoeing on the River Vezere is a must - we used Canoe 24, a 5-minute walk from our hotel.Guest review byDianaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A pleasant small hotel in a beautiful location. in this historic village on the Dordogne river. Paid parking is opposite and you can walk up to the Chateau. The rooms are average size but comfortable and with views over the viillage towards the river. There is a bar with ourside seating overlooking the river. This was our second stay and this time we tried the hotel restaurant . The food was outstanding!!!Guest review byTrevorUnited Kingdom - 10.0
