FAQs about hotels in Alsace
A Mouthful of History, Architecture and Food
One of the most important regions in the European Union because of its number of international organisations, Alsace is also the smallest region in mainland France. Stretched along the upper Rhine, this is an area of tumultuous history, great architecture and distinctive cuisine.
The Alsace capital, Strasbourg, features one of the most beautiful European cathedrals and a very photogenic Old Town with cobbled streets and half-timbered townhouses. You can find picturesque castles, villages and churches all around this petite region.
But Alsace is not just known for its man-made structures. It also boasts the low, densely forested Vosges Mountains with glacial lakes, great hiking trails and charming waterfalls. Not to mention its vineyards and the famous Alsatian Vineyard Route, stretching from Wissembourg to Thann and incorporating 67 towns and villages.
A visit to the region wouldn’t be complete without trying some of the famous Alsatian cuisine. Said to be the birthplace of sauerkraut, this is one of the best places to try tarte flambée, a delicious creation of onion, bacon and crème fraiche.

- From US$453.03 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 273 reviewsEvery thing! We went for a spa weekend with our french bulldog (which sleeps a lot) and everything was perfect. The room was comfortable with enough space to walk around, the bathroom was very warm. This room was a little outdated but very charming. The spa facilities are definitely high standards, 2 different sauna, a hamman, a pool with jacuzzi space, everything is made to relax. The restaurant was also great, food was qualitative and servings a good size. The staff were very nice, helpful and friendly. A charming town.
A charming town. You can walk around to all the nice places so you don't need a car unless you plan to go to the countryside or visit Colmar. I'd recommend walking to the Petite France section. The homes along the small waterways are picturesque! Next, I'd visit the wine cellar at the hospital, yes! it's at the hospital. They have the worlds oldest white wine in existence. Made in 1472. The tour is free to enter and 3 euros for the audio tour which was well worth it. The wine is very affordable and all proceeds go to the hospital. Finally, I'd recommend visiting the Notre Dame Cathedral. Not only is it beautiful, if you spend the 8 euros to go to the top, you will get a beautiful view of the city. When you get done, the little train that has the tour of the city stops right there at the cathedral. Its's 8 euros as well and well worth it. Strasbourg was wonderful. Bonne Journee!Guest review byCUnited States - 10.0
Colmar is a truly magical place!
Colmar is a truly magical place! It is a small town, but incredibly beautiful and cosy. The atmosphere of the Middle Ages flows right through the streets here: picturesque alleys, brightly coloured houses with flower-filled balconies, canals and ancient bridges. The whole town looks like something out of a painting, and every corner is a delight. I especially liked the historic centre, where you can just walk around, enjoy the architecture and pop into small cafés and shops. I highly recommend visiting the ‘Little Venice’ area — it's one of the most romantic corners of the town. It is also worth visiting the ancient churches and museums, which perfectly complement the atmosphere. Colmar is also the centre of the Alsace wine region, and it is definitely worth trying the local wines here. Many restaurants and wineries offer tastings and traditional Alsatian dishes such as tarte flambée or kohenfläisch. The only thing to keep in mind is that it can be quite difficult to find a free table in a restaurant in the evening, especially if you haven't booked in advance. This doesn't detract from the city, but it can be unpleasant if your children are crying and want to eat right away.Guest review byMuradUkraine - 2.0
Mulhouse is a crowded city, close to Swiss border.
Mulhouse is a crowded city, close to Swiss border. Narrow streets and cars parked on both sides, the place didn't feel safe while traveling with family. we stayed in a crowded neighborhood, where people smoked and drank in the streets. Tip: Before you book a place in France, look at the Google satellite view or do some research.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0

I am French so I was happy to stay in France while visiting Basel. Because of the poor experience we had in the apartment, we moved to another one in Switzerland. We found a very charming village with beautiful architecture and nature around. Switzerland must have been wealthier than this part of France for a long time and it shows.Guest review byFRANCKUnited States - 10.0

Very clean and safe. Perfect location for a short Elzas discovery trip. Highway to Straatsburg and Colmar/Mulhouse is only 5 mins away. On the other hand it's also a very short drive to get up in the mountains.Guest review byKarmenBelgium - 10.0
This is one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages...
This is one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages in the Alsace wine region. It can be busy during the day at peak season as it is on the Wine Route and gets a lot of day visitors. Staying here means that you get to experience it in the mornings and evenings when it is generally fairly quiet and you can really enjoy the surroundings and the handful of local restaurants and cafes. For us, that was one of the best reasons to stay here. It is also a great location for days out around the region, to Basle in Switzerland (40 minutes by car) and also across the Rhine into Germany (30-40 minutes by car) being fairly central. From the UK, it is easy and fairly quick to get to with Eurostar into Strasbourg or cheap flights to Basle Airport then local transport.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Beautiful village with half-timbered houses in the heart of...
Beautiful village with half-timbered houses in the heart of the wine-growing region of Alsace. Very touristy during the daytime, but the crowds thin out considerably in the evening, leaving the storks in peace with those discerning enough to have booked somewhere to stay in the village itself. Eating out is expensive and the quality is mediocre. Nobody needs to try hard here, because the location is stunning and people will keep coming back even when service is poor. Some spectacular castle ruins are hiking distance from the village. The picturesque city of Colmar is within easy reach. The historic village of Turckheim is worth visiting when the town watchman does his nightly rounds of the walls, wishing all the sleeping inhabitants a "guati Nacht" in the Alsacien language.Guest review byThe Language SecretGermany - 6.0
The village is quite sweet but small.
The village is quite sweet but small. There are a few restaurant choices but they are expensive and the quality didn’t blow us away. It’s ok as a base for exploring the area but maybe not to stay. Best place we ate was Auberge le Biblenhof which I would highly recommendGuest review byHazel & friendsGermany - 10.0

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay, especially for the price. The rooms were nice, clean, and spacious enough, with the added convenience of parking and being super close to the tram. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! Even though we expected to share a bathroom, we were happy to find a shower in the room, only the toilets were shared.Guest review byManuelaSpain
