- From £216.13 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 676 reviewsIt is an exceptional thing to sleep in an igloo. Each igloo room has its own character and different theme. They were all designed but different artists so it is interesting to visit them all. It was not cold at night in the sleeping bags and we all slept sound. Nice sauna. Kota restaurant is also good. There is an ice bar and ice restaurant. They have ice slides for kids and an exhibition of ice sculptures. The staff is exceptionally friendly and nice - all of them: from the girl who was showing us around, the barman in the ice bar, waiters in Kota and all the receptionist. We asked to be waken up for norther lights and they woke us twice for the beautiful night aurora show. Pleasant breakfast with good selection .Guest review byGabrielaGermany
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 474 reviewsI had wanted to book Saivaara Cottages a couple of years ago during the Covid nonsense over New Year, but someone obviously booked before I managed to arrange the flights; and whoever booked was unbelievably lucky, because the place is simply fantastic - and we got to enjoy it for 8 days this year before Christmas. Simply put, Saivaara Cottages are wonderful - the accommodation, the owners, the location - everything about the place is superb; and we will be coming again. We have stayed elsewhere in Kilpisjarvi before, but Saivaara Cottages was most definitely worth the wait. Hopefully Saivaara Cottages will have space for us net time.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom
- From £111.97 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 696 reviewsI'm giving this hotel a top review for several reasons...the airline lost our luggage and one of the women at the front desk (I think her name is Verra (sorry if I got it wrong!) actually called her husband at home to go pick up our luggage (we didn't have a car) and bring it to the hotel!!!! I find that EXCEPTIONAL service as well as care and compassion on the part of the staff. All of the staff were very kind and helpful. The location of this hotel is perfect...near the city center, great restaurants...walkable to everything and easy to walk to the places that offer excursions in Rovaniemi.Guest review byTeresaUnited States
- From £325.50 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 204 reviewsVery comfortable room, more spacious than I thought it would be for a family of 4. Sleeping situation was double bed and 2 singles which are pulled out from the double. Hob, fridge and microwave not much counter space for kettle but we made it work. Amazing water pressure in the shower. We didn’t have a car but the staff organised transport to the supermarket for me which was brilliant. Really good breakfastGuest review byKimIreland

Summer trip to Rovaniemi: Lapland was in a heat wave which held us back a bit as it was rather humid. We enjoyed Arktikum very much, went swimming in the river, walked in the Arctic Gardens and explored the town centre. We planned some hiking but it was hotter than we expected. At end of July, sunset around midnight for only a short time, which is cool.Guest review byLynleyNew Zealand - 8.0
Saariselka is a wonderland in winter.
Saariselka is a wonderland in winter. You can easily get all the required things such as food from K-market. There are lots of activities you can do in Saariselka such as skiing, snowshoeing, Ice Karting, bowling, Aurora Hunting tours, etc. You can easily reach here from Rovaniemi City by using public bus. There is a Ski bus that runs between Saariselka village and Saarselka Ski resort. I did my beginner ski lesson here. It was great. I spent my Christmas holidays here and most things are available to do. I did my skiing on Christmas day itself.Guest review byPankajIreland - 10.0

We went at end of March, still plenty of snow and the lake is completely frozen but temperatures around 0. Was ideal for the kids who spent days in the snow! We saw the northern lights (had to stay up till 2am for a very lucky gap in the clouds but was worth it). The Sami museum there is excellent and we did some guided tours, was fascinating to see the Sami culture and way of life past and present.Guest review byJamesUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Kilpisjärvi in winter is a magical experience.
Kilpisjärvi in winter is a magical experience. The village is located in the far north of Finland, in the heart of Lapland. It is a popular destination for winter activities such as skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing. The area is also known for its stunning scenery, with snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, and the majestic Saana fell. One of the highlights of a winter trip to Kilpisjärvi is the opportunity to see the Northern Lights. The village is located in an area with minimal light pollution, making it an ideal place to view this natural phenomenon. The Northern Lights can be seen on clear nights throughout the winter, but the best time to see them is during the darkest months of December and January. Kilpisjärvi is also a great place to experience the Sami culture. The Sami are the indigenous people of Lapland, and they have a rich history and culture. There are several Sami villages in the area, and visitors can learn about the Sami way of life by visiting a reindeer farm or a traditional Sami market. Overall, Kilpisjärvi is a wonderful place to visit in winter. It is a great destination for those who want to experience the beauty of Lapland and enjoy a variety of winter activities.Guest review bySujoy GoswamiNetherlands - 8.0

I do ski (downhill) but would not ski in Jan/early Feb in Levi because of the poor light. However it is a great village to visit and not ski if you like winter walking or other snow based activities. The restaurants are very good and characterful if you choose wisely.Guest review byStephenUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Small town by the sea.
Small town by the sea. The icebreaker, SAMPO, is the attraction of the town. If you are not interested in sailing in the iced sea, walking on the iced sea and floating in the sea, you needn't come here. I bought some pretty clothes in a small shop in Kemi. How happy!Guest review byMs.China - 10.0
We erre here in winter.
We erre here in winter. We made 2 tours from here and from Rovianemi. One is Aurora Borealis and the other one is a tours tó the frozen waterfalls. We really loved that there was snow here, the landscape was white, and alsó the trees.Guest review byEszterHungary - 10.0
Ivalo itself was cute.
Ivalo itself was cute. Not too touristy, much quieter than places close by and everyone so friendly with a well stocked supermarket. Not too many places to eat but it depends what you’re looking for. As a young family, it was perfect for us!Guest review byJenniferHong Kong - 10.0
Enontekiö is a large area in north east Finland, and it is...
Enontekiö is a large area in north east Finland, and it is mostly void of people, which is excellent. There are a few villages, like Hetta, commonly called Enontekiö, where you can find everything you need. Enontekiö boasts many of the most dramatic sceneries in Finland, like Saana and Halti fells, in the 'arm' (Käsivarsi), and palsasuot (permafrost-hill mires). It's excellent for hiking, berry- and mushroom-picking, and visiting one or more of the many national parks and Sami sacred places at hand. In Hetta, we stayed at Ounasloma for the 4th time. It is a family-owned holiday cottage business, which provides actual fully-furnished houses with sauna, and the lakeshore is just next door, boats and bikes are at disposal. We had our own food, but one evening we grabbed burgers and chips from the local grillikiosi (opposite k supermarket and alko), and not only was the lady very friendly, but the kioski sells bare necessities and the burgers are huge and excellent. I only wait to go back, discover more of the nature around, and maybe finally climb the Saana fell, which was foggy (and therefore very dangerous) when we were there.Guest review byPia-IngridSwitzerland - 6.0
We were in Muonio in the summer time.
We were in Muonio in the summer time. It was difficult to rent a boat for fishing. There are little tourism activities in the summer. After 5 nights with fishing, riding a bike and a small hiking, we had explored the area. I think, Muonio is much more interesting to visit in winter time.Guest review byYvonneSwitzerland
