Not sure if it fits La Gomera as it is quite large.. but our stay was superb. Staff was great, we got a corner suite and the pools are out of this world. We will return in April!

The Modern Day Example of Prehistoric Times

Located in the Atlantic Ocean and one of Spain's Canary Islands, the picturesque and unspoilt La Gomera is a real jewel of nature. It comprises of shallow dips and high cliffs forged by erosion from its pre-ice age past. The island is home to the the breathtaking Valle Gran Rey, and national parks, one of which is the Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

La Gomera is a popular spot for lovers of hiking and trail-walking, offering endless opportunities to discover this unique and prehistoric wonder of the world. From its abundance of walking treks and surrounded by sandy beaches, La Gomera is certainly a nature lover’s paradise.   The island is also home to Hermigua, specialising in popular walking holidays, it has a modern town centre, the 17th-century Iglesia de la Encarnación, the 16th-century church and convent of Santo Domingo, and several restaurants.

Christopher Columbus made frequent stopovers to the port of San Sebastián de La Gomera on his voyage to the Americas in order to replenish his crew's food and water supplies.

The region features a great gastronomic tradition, in no smal part due to the lush, diverse vegetation and green banana plantations. Distinctive local cheeses, wines, biscuits, and palm honey help to produce local dishes such as Almogrote, Gomerón and Mistela accompanied with roasted pork, fresh seafood or goat meat.     The property is very homely with lovely views overlooking the valley. We enjoyed staying here for 5 nights during our recent visit in February. The pool over the road is quiet with ample space for sunbathing and the pool provides a soothing swim or dip if desired. The in house breakfast is very convenient particularly if you don’t have a car which was the case for us. The nearest supermarket is a 5 minute walk which gets fresh bread every morning. The nearby restaurant is very good along with one or two others we tried towards the sea. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly too. I highly recommend staying at the apartments and will certainly book again in the future.

    I immediately fell in love with this place. The apartment had a sea view and, on a clear day, I could even see the Teide in the distance. The room was spacious and the kitchen had all the necessary utensils. The beds were comfortable, too. I didn't have a car, so it was a bit of a walk from the bus station, but doable. I actually liked that it was in a quiet location. My favorite part was the view. I could have stayed for at least a month. I highly recommend this place!

    Breakfast was amazing, too many options, high quality food, great service The pool, though smaller than I'd wish, was lovely, cooling after an hour of sunbathing, heating up through the day Waste bins were clearly labelled but I had no idea what to do with metal containers, there wasn't a bin for them - but the daily cleaning/housemaid service removed any from my room, so there was no problem

    Valle Gran Rey is very beautiful situated at the bottom of a very steep valley with spectacular scenery. You have to be able to cope with very windy mountain roads with sheer drops! It is dominated with German travellers and has multiple good restaurants at very friendly prices.

    Great for walking around and getting good views. A viewpoint near the parador is worth the uphill walk. Also good to explore the beach and viewpoint near the port. Lots of lovely bars and restaurants along side streets and near the main square. Great atmosphere during the Three Kings/Epiphany festival.

    It’s a beautiful village nestled in the mountains. It’s close to the national park and if you like hiking then it’s ideal but I’d suggest having a car as the local bus timetable is very confusing and not very frequent.

    It is a quiet and appealing little town with a good choice of places to eat and drink. A good baker and three supermarkets to choose from. Buses (cheap) and the excellent Fred Olsen Express ferry service can be used to travel to San Sebastian, Valle Gran Rey, etc.

    Lovely little village out of the way!

    Lovely little village out of the way! 25min drive down from the main road with spectacular views on the way down! Not a lot in the village but a small beach but if you want tranquility it's perfect! Lovely restaurant on the beach that serves the most amazing fish and seafood as very reasonable prices!

    Nice small village famous for pottery. Green part of the island with the downside that it is often foggy or inside clouds. I liked the character of the village and had a great view from above. Depending on your destinations few places are near and for going to the east and south-east it’s up to 1 hour drive - but La Gomera is so beautiful that every road trip is already an adventure and a sightseeing trip. Next mini-market is just a few minutes by car.

    The scenery is outstandingly breath taking. The ride into the area and leaving is awesome. there are some nice places to eat and mini market shops . We chose a restaurant Esperanto by the Port , it is owned by a couple from Germany. The husband being the Chef. The food was excellent and highly recommend a visit.

    We went to watch the start of this years Atlantic Row as I had taken part in it 2 years ago and we were seeing the crew who bought our boat off on their challenge. As always San Sebastian was delightful and having been there a few times over the years we were able to visit all of our old haunts just before Christmas which was excellent.

    Everywhere was shut we arrived on 28 June but apparently all the local restaurants close during June for their annual vacation we should have been told this there was absolutely nowhere to eat our apartment was not accessible as my husband has mobility problems he is 77 years old we were expecting to use the Infinity pool which was a plunge pool with approx 6 inches of filthy gree water photo included
