- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 440 reviewsArriving at the Alarcon village was like something out of a story book with the castle being the main character. It was such a treat to stay in a building so beautifully preserved. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were cosy and warm and the food at the restaurant was excellent. If your budget allows it, book your stay in the tower for the whole experience. Alarcón is a pretty village with a selection of restaurants and bars.Guest review byFionaSpain

Beautiful old town with a very impressive Cathedral.
Beautiful old town with a very impressive Cathedral. The hanging houses are amazing to see and the town just oozes with culture and history. Really worth a visit. We did two night and was sufficient. Lots of up hill walking but there is a site seeing "tram like bus" for those who cant make the hills.Guest review byBridgetRoosSouth Africa - 10.0

Excellent hotel for stop over between southern Spain and ferry ports. Easy to find, a hotel with historical features which are welcome. Imparts a feeling of comfort. Reception and staff overall are on point, and they do remember regular visitors. Great welcome and every effort to please the customer.Guest review byIanSpain - 10.0

Belmonte was such a beautiful village, with friendly locals and enchanting buildings. Plenty of fantastic restaurants, a Manchego cheese producer and bakeries. Restaurante La Muralla was our favourite. Belmonte castle is very interesting, and because they have a cafe there, you can easily spend half a day. The only downside of Belmonte is the lack of shops, if you're in need of retail therapy, you'll have to drive.Guest review byCouple in their 30'sUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We had a pleasant walk from the hostel through the park to the town centre, to finish off our day. There was little to see, but the visit served it's purpose as an overnight stopping point. We would not make a special visit to Tarancon for any other reason.Guest review byAnne MargaretSpain - 4.0

Cuenca is a lovely city as is the surrounding countryside, visit the old Town, marvel at the hanging houses, enjoy the historic old Town but don't miss out on beautiful places like the Enchanted city & the waterfalls @ Rio Cuervo. Both within an easy & very scenic drive from Cuenca itself. Also highly recommend the 7km walk along the river in the city, stunning. We are both mid 70's but very much enjoy walking/hiking so for us this was an ideal short break.Guest review byGrahamSpain - 10.0
The old town is the most beautiful part of Cuenca, and there...
The old town is the most beautiful part of Cuenca, and there is a good bus service into the new town, which has the big shops and the railway and bus stations. The old town is located on a narrow piece of rising land between two very steep river gorges. It is consequently full of small narrow lanes, passages, staircases, houses sitting almost on top of each other, charming little squares with churches, and magnificent views. Pavement cafes and gift shops abound, and add to the atmosphere. We were there in February, and there were already quite a lot of tourists. So February could be a better time than the main tourist season. This is perhaps especially true for visitors who want to make an excursion into the nearby national park, to the Ciudad Encantada or the.waterfalls at the source of the river Cuervo - the traffic when we went was light.Guest review byHelen RuthUnited Kingdom
