- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 132 reviewsThis was our favourite stay in Spain. We had a spacious 1-bedroom apartment with a full fridge and everything you would need to make meals, for a very reasonable rate. The apartment had a large private terrace. It was situated in a beautiful pine forest. We went down to the lake from our apartment and had a beautiful swim. This was just such a peaceful place, our only regret was that we didn't stay longer.Guest review byPhilippaCanada
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 207 reviewsThe place is absolutely wonderful. Frank and Jolanda are the perfect hosts. Every room has it's own terrace, the Pool is great and the best is the breakfast. We loved the place as our base for hiking Camino del Rey and El Torcal. Thank you for the great time!Guest review byErikAustria

It has stunning views and is very Spanish.
It has stunning views and is very Spanish. It's not really a tourist hot spot, so there are far more locals than visitors, which in my opinion is very welcome. Good mixture of bars and restaurants, shops and supermarkets. Close to stunning walks and hikes.Guest review byPaulineUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Ardales was a surprise highlight of our trip.
Ardales was a surprise highlight of our trip. We stayed to visit the Caminito del Rey but the town itself is lovely - a very pretty and steep white village. Parking is easy. We missed the caves nearby but they sounded cool. There is a nice lake which is near the entrance to Caminito del Rey where you can bathe and hire pedalos and canoes. We went in the church at the top of the hill and a really nice man was there to tell us the interesting history of Ardales - it was a great opportunity to practice our Spanish! We didn’t eat in the restaurants, they looked quite basic but had a lively feel with locals sitting out in the evening. A really nice atmosphere.Guest review byJennyUnited Kingdom - 8.0

this area also has lots of hiking and mountain biking. so you could stay for 2 nights and have stuff to do.. or just relax. there is not town. just this hotel. and a train from Malaga.. which stops many times a day. PS that would be a great way to get there!Guest review byamberUnited States - 10.0

Valle de Abdalajis is a small town in the middle of a mountain range. Perfect starting point for some hiking-adventures. El Torcal is reachable in a 40 minutes car-journey and Antequerra in 30 minutes.Guest review byManuel - 10.0

Carratraca is a typical small village near the mountains at 46 km from Malaga and the sea. It used to be famous for its thermal facilities and has a 5* luxe hotel but unfortunately closed after COVID.. There are 2 local supermarkets, 2 restaurants and a café. From Carratraca there are several beautiful walkings you can make in the woods. And El Chorro where the famous Camininto del Rey starts, is only 11km away..Guest review byDianeBelgium - 8.0
Alora is a fabulous place.
Alora is a fabulous place. A bit hilly but after a few days we were up the steep slopes like a 16 year old. Plenty of options for food and bars but you will easily find 'your local' People are friendly and if you need help there'll be someone yo help you out. Easy transport to Malaga and every where but Alora has everything for day to day living..Guest review byBethan - 8.0
Great for a short stay & exploring the mountains.
Great for a short stay & exploring the mountains. All amenities available on the very pretty Main Street, inc restaurants/ cafes/ ice cream parlour, pharmacy & other shops. Plenty of on street parking around. You may struggle in Ardales if you had mobility issues.Guest review byDiane - 10.0

Easy to get the train to El Chorro - I actually missed the stop as I was looking at google maps and the tunnels delayed reception! LOL The views from my accommodation were amazing. Both on sunny days and when the clouds came down with rain. The hotel and train station were very close to my accommodation - but (note to self!) travel light. the roads and stairs do not make for easy movement of big cases! El Chorro is a magical place.Guest review byRachelleAustralia - 8.0
very traditional whitewashed villge come small town.
very traditional whitewashed villge come small town. A couple of interesting historic sites. Doesn't really cater for tourists in the evenings - takeaway or chinese is about it. Transport needs to be looked at carefully so you don't get stuck somewhere you can't easily get back from.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Lovely accommodation, perfectly located for our trip to Caminito del Rey. The Caminito is definitely a must for a visit to the area. Amazing gorge hike with spring flowers everywhere. Dizzying views of the gorge and river bed. We saw lots of birds of prey and an otter plus wild goats. If we return we’d be interested in seeing some of the local caves. We ran out of time and some are open only at specific times.Guest review byKylieUnited Kingdom
