- From £68.04 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 430 reviewsThe hotel is located very close to the magnificent temples. It's only a 15 minute walk there. It's a 10 minute walk to the busses and minivans to go back to Aswan. My room was cosy and clean, as was the bathroom. Comfy bed. There was a smart tv in my room, which worked well and is set up for watching Netflix and YouTube. The staff were helpful and kind. So are the local people. The staff will help you arrange a ticket to the night show and/or to the sunrise at the temples. The food in the restaurant was honest, very fresh and tasty fare. This a great hotel at which to relax. Abu Simbel is a place where time slows down. It's like a different country entirely to Egypt. I really recommend spending at least one night at this lovely little hotel.Guest review byGillianIreland
- From £113.74 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,203 reviewsThe hotel is amazing, strategically located, so you have a lovely view of Aswan. We had a room with the pool and Nile view and is just a must to go to the balcony and have that lovely view! The room is very spacious, clean and comfortable, with all the necessary amenities, the staff is very friendly, polite and helpful. It was very hot so we used the swimming pool that is big and good. We even got a free massage at the spa. Our reservation included the breakfast that was exceptional , could spend long time trying all the different breads and pastries. We are delighted with our stay at Basma Hotel and highly recommed this hotel.Guest review byCristianeIreland

- From £133.69 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 310 reviewsWe book a room at this hotel for one night stay prior our Nile Cruise. Our flight arrival time was 8:30 a.m. and I had ask the hotel if they had a storage room were we could leave our luggage while our room became available. The hotel reply was quick and accommodating. To our surprise, once we arrived at the hotel, they had a room ready for us. We were so exhausted and happy to find a place to lay our head. Thank you for the wonderful stay!Guest review byClaudiaCanada
- From £55.47 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 166 reviewsWe stayed for 3 nights and it couldn't be better. The family running the guesthouse is so welcoming and friendly, they help you with everything, they organised us a felucca, their cousin guided us to the monastery and the tombs of the nobles, the homemade food was delicious and healthy, rooms are comfortable and clean. It was just a pleasure to be at Nubian Lotus. Highly recommend!Guest review byCorneliaSwitzerland

Visit the temples in the afternoon (after 03.00pm) because the is nobody (except perhaps some extroverted sceaming chinese girls - but once they are gone). Yes, it´s hotter than in the morning and the light is not prefect. but you will have the temple for yourself and you will be able to make perfect photos from inside.Guest review byThomasSwitzerland - 6.0

The stay at Abdu’s houseboat was nothing but mind blowing.
The stay at Abdu’s houseboat was nothing but mind blowing. I stayed in the houseboat for 5 days with my mother. We both feel like we gained a friend in Abdu and hope to see him again one time. He is so kind and caring! Not only did he help us arrange everything in terms of tours (to Filae, Abu Simbel, a Nubian village, the botanical garden and more) and activities (Falluca sailing, Zaraha sand meditation, bird watching trip, exploring the Souk, swimming in the Nile, transfer to Luxor via Edfu and Kom Ombo and more), he also helped us with his second smaller boat to get everywhere, get local products for local prices, assimilate to the local culture by clothing and customs, cooked for us (he also made sure all food was well washed), helped us donate goods and clothes to the local school, and assisted us in getting tickets for the night train from Luxor to Caïro, ATM withdrawals and simcards). We truly think he has a heart of gold and works with honesty not soley for money. His houseboat has everything you need for an authentic stay. Our cabin was spacious enough for the two of us and had an amazing view over the Elephantine Island. The terraces was facing the beautiful botanical garden on Kitchener Island. Due to the placement of the boat you have some shade in the morning and you can enjoy the sunset in the evening. If you look for a real experience and want to dive in the culture and day to day livestyle on the Nile, the boat is definitely something for you. We are truly greatful we’ve met Abdu and can definitely recommend a stay with him on his lovely houseboat. We hope to see him again one day!Guest review byDanjaNetherlands - 10.0

I had an incredible experience staying at Miskaa Nubian House! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and felt immediately at home. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The room was beautifully decorated with authentic Nubian touches, and it was clear that great care had been put into making the space both cozy and functional. The bed was comfortable, and the view from the window was absolutely stunning. The location is perfect—peaceful yet conveniently located close to the beautiful Nile. I especially enjoyed the traditional Nubian meals offered at the hotel. Each dish was delicious and gave me a taste of the rich culture of the area. What stood out the most was the overall atmosphere of the hotel. It felt like a peaceful oasis, blending culture, comfort, and hospitality perfectly. I left feeling relaxed and enriched by the experience. I highly recommend Miskaa Nubian House to anyone visiting the area. Whether you’re traveling for leisure or exploring the local culture, it’s a wonderful place to stay. I can't wait to return!Guest review byMedhat - 10.0

We spent a lot of our time just enjoying Elephantine island, which is quite, safe, and very relaxing, compared to much of the rest of what we experienced in Egypt. There is certainly enough to explore in Aswan that one could easily spend several days.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
Abu Simbel is truly breathtaking.
Abu Simbel is truly breathtaking. We visited around noon on a blessed day during Ramadan, so there weren't many tourists. At times, it felt like we had the entire sites to ourselves. You can walk or take a transport cart to the sites.Guest review byHuyenUnited States - 10.0
Allow at least 2 full days for Aswan region.
Allow at least 2 full days for Aswan region. It s a great stopover for a break after the madness of the tourist sites. The Nubian village ( with the colored walls, where all the motor boats end up) on the other side of the town has been a place where i could have made local friends if I stayed longer. Of course the money making is also there in the mindset, and it s over touristic but you experience the vib of a local village if you stay overnight there. I suggest Ekadolli guesthouse for location outside the touristic area, still close enough to the village, up a hill offering nice view at the Nil. Nebro Guesthouse is better if you wish to wake up right beside the river, in the heart of the village but quiet enough.Guest review byAgnesFrance - 8.0
