Everything was great! The room was very comfortable and the ocean view (also overlooking the pool) was amazing. Breakfast had so much variety and products were good quality. Also special thanks to the staff who prepared a sweet surprise in our room after I informed them that it was our anniversary. They also let us check in two hours earlier than usual. Overall a very pleasant experience!

Room was comfortable, cozy, clean, and bathroom was good. The terrace had a nice small pool and a lounge area that was nice to chill out. The Friday night party did last until 4am - but we were warned about this several times, and even given the option to cancel without charge.

Brand new place with large & confortable rooms, very clean, quiet. The hotel is located not far from town (if you do not want to walk, taxi is only 2 euros) & near beaches ans wonderful sunsets.     Last week I stayed together with my father in various rooms at Casa Strela. We’re looking back on our stay with a big smile on our faces and made the best decision staying here on our visit of Tarrafal. The atmosphere in the B&B (and also in Tarrafal itself) is relaxed and our stay was very comfortable. The rooms are really nicely decorated and tidy and clean. Also the public places had a great atmosphere and were nice to hang out/spend time to relax. Also, the restaurant with it’s unique view and atmosphere, made our stay so pleasant. The breakfast and dinner meals are delicious and all served with great care. Finally, most important of all: the staff who made us feel at home. Specially Adla made our stay really pleasant. She was always very welcoming, helpful and kind. We loved talking to her. She helped arranging various excursions and trips and also told us more about the area and the culture. Adla really made our stay unforgettable. We very much recommend staying here and hope the people and the area will always stay this way. We can’t wait to go back!

    We spent 1 night here after our 2 weeks Cabo Verde trip before we flew back home and we just needed a comfortable, air-conditioned room to relax.     Great position right in the pedestrian street in “Plateau”, where all the restaurants and nice live music on the weekends are. Very clean, spacious room. Nice bathroom. The place has a colonial style feeling. We liked Davidson who works there and who was very friendly and helpful.

    Crowded and chaotic city, far from the peaceful atmosphere...

    Crowded and chaotic city, far from the peaceful atmosphere found on the other Cape Verde islands. The local population generally doesn’t speak English and often seems offended if you don’t speak to them in Portuguese. Tourists are frequently stared at, which can make you feel a bit out of place, and the overall impression is that visitors aren’t always welcome. We had a bad experience in Praínha, where persistent children came up asking for money, while older men seemed to be eyeing our bags left on the towels. We ended up having to leave immediately by taxi. Outside of the Plateau—the only area recommended for tourists and heavily patrolled by military and police—you don’t really feel safe.

    Tarrafal by itself is nice to visit for a few days.

    Tarrafal by itself is nice to visit for a few days. Beach, good restaurants, you can do hikes on Monte Graciosa, and Tras os Montes. Restaurant 'chez mama' has some hiking maps. And good food too. I spent most of my time fishing. From the rocks at Punta Atum, of from a boat. One thing to keep in mind. Tarrafal in August is hot. You can go up to Serra Malagueta where it is cooler. But rainy in August.

    Nice beach, clean but poor surroundings. The proximity with the airport (35 min.) makes it a potential nice destination. The city should promote more actively the destination in order to attract developers which could renew the houses we can see from the beach and which are falling apart. Hopefully in the future this can be done and attract more visitors and have additional hotels. The potential exists.

    Actually I’m a Nigerian.

    Actually I’m a Nigerian. When I traveled there I found it difficult to communicate in Cape Verde due to I can’t speak Portuguese. But there are another islands that they do speak English there. in this country 99% people speaks Portuguese. So that’s just my experience. But the was nice and peaceful

    Very cosy little town with nice beach and friendly local people. You can eat very affordable in local bars/restaurants or choose European food in couple of restaurants. The center is quite small, so you walk around easy. Beach is nice and not too much people.

    If you are visiting the islands of Cabo Verde, do Praia...

    If you are visiting the islands of Cabo Verde, do Praia first. The beaches are a far cry from the ones in Boa Vista or Sal. It is nice to go to Cidade Velha which is a UNESCO site 12km away. It is really picturesque and is the first place the portugese landed in 1462. Absolutely worth a visit.
